I'm here to update my review. Now, my entire family if 4 can state we've worked out at Cosmic Training Center. It's been transformational for us. My husband, who is now a blue belt in jiujitsu has been with Cosmic the longest. He would come home saying "I got my butt kicked" yet still go each week, 1-3 times a week. This is much more consistent than his previous BJJ gym, which I believe he only went to half a year at most, each year, due to injuries. He has yet to substain a serious injury at Cosmic, which I appreciate as a wife. My daughter has been attending since she was 6. It started with twice a week. The classes are 1.5 hours long. We enrolled her because she was a highly sensitive child, who was going into doe mode at school when she felt overwhelmed, anxious, or needed to make decisions. She has transformed tremendously since attending BJJ. She hasn't had a serious melt down this school year, and her counselor is graduating her from the program. She now does 2.5 hours of BJJ class (kids class and competition class) 4 days a week, for 10 hours a week, and describes herself as strong. Her growth mindset and grit have improved tremendously. My son started when he turned 4.5, 7 months ago. He started the competition class, and does 10 hours of BJJ a week with his sister. He has improved when it comes to following instructions, making good decisions, gross motor control, and active listening skills. His TK teacher commends him for his gross motor skills and ability to follow multistep instructions, and use advanced communication skills, largely due to the socialization and teaching from BJJ. He has competed in his first competition and won first place in his division. I just took my first MMA class on Friday, and my muscles are aching. The coach does a great job of motivating you while understanding limitations you may have. The community is very welcoming and nonjudgemental. My son already professed he will continue training here until he is a blue belt, so I guess we will be here for another decade. Feel free to read my previous review for first impressions.

This academy is my home academy. The culture here is a great fit for me. Professor Joseph runs the academy. Professor Joseph is extremely motivational. He gave me permission to attend several classes for free. When I asked how much I would be paying per month, his advice for me was "just try". Before I gave my credit card information to him, he said "Wait, before you sign, just remember to email me if you quit so I don't keep charging you." His humility is incredible. Its inspired me to never quit, it's been 4 months and I'm competing in 2 months. I have attended open mat at School BJJ in Arcadia and Peerless Jiu Jitsu in Corona but Cosmic open mat is a true party. Lots of colored belts from many different academies. Professor Joseph is always there to make sure things are safe and fun. Holidays are no exception to training, I haven't been here a full year yet so I can't speak to every holiday. There was class on July 4th. That was a fun one. Delayed my alcohol beverage intake for the whole day.

Rolling at the end of class is always fun.

From the office manager to all the different coaches and even to the other students, everyone cares about your learning. First off, the coaches - I can't say enough good things about the coaches here. When I had tried the other gyms, their coaches would throw out terminology as if everyone automatically knew what they were talking about. And then they would proceed to show the moves and simply tell you what to do. The coaches at Silanoe take the time to explain the terminology as well as WHY you should do each move the way they're taught so that you're not only learning the moves, you're also understanding them. They are also extremely patient so I never feel hesitant to ask questions. Next up we have the office manager. I always feel welcomed when I walk into the office because I'm always greeted with a lovely smile and all my questions are always answered with that same smile. When I have questions and am not on location, I simply send an email and I'd get a response almost immediately. I truly feel taken care of. Then there's the other students, which makes up a large part of the overall experience. All of the students here are friendly and very approachable and nobody here has an ego. The students treat each other with much respect and nobody is out to prove anything. We are all here for each others' learning and we have fun. Finally, there's professor Gino himself. Professor Gino is the nicest and most down to earth instructor you'll ever meet. You can tell he truly cares about the students and community he has built. From the moment I stepped foot on his mat, I felt very welcomed and never once felt intimidated. I did not get such a feeling from some of the other gyms I tried. Silanoe is awesome!!

From his front kick, side kick, to sparring with him. Each moment shows a great depth of knowledge and experience that I am grateful to be a part of and learn. When Sifu demonstrated the front kick to the class, I saw how quick and powerful it was. It showed that Sifu was not just for show but authentic to its core. When Sifu performed the side kick while I was holding the kicking shield, it was a completely different feel compared to others. Even though it was a demonstration kick with the kicking shield, I still had the air knocked out of me. It was this moment, I realized the proof of Sifu's training and how important it is. One of the most memorable moment I had was when I had the opportunity to spar Sifu. Although I felt as if I was quick, I was only able to keep up with Sifu for a few punches. Through those few punches, I knew Sifu had already trapped me in a vulnerable position and all I could do was block the flurry of punches. As I continue to learn from Sifu, the more I can see how he was able to trap me and put me in that situation.
