I received a facial today. In both appointments, Pivot Point Academy made sure to evaluate me thoroughly to ensure that nothing was applied to my face that shouldn't have been; meanwhile, I was provided a well-rounded, hybrid experience of hydration, relaxation and breakout treatment. My esthetician was named Aliya, named after the singer Aaliyah. Aliya was not only skilled, but also very considerate of all of the components of what makes a good customer experience. She was sweet, thorough in both her approach and her application of the product, had good massaging techniques, was generally attentive to detail, and exhibited a wealth of knowledge that she's managed to learn within just a few months of practice. If I do book with Pivot Point again, Aaliya is definitely the one for me.

Despite specifically asking for my nails to be cut and shaped, that was never done. The student took her time, but the entire service felt rushed and uninterested, as if she didn't want to be there. The pedicure itself was far below what I've experienced at other student salons. There was no heel scrub, no spa-like experience, and the water didn't even have bubbles. To make matters worse, there was a hair floating in the water. Instead of changing the water, it was simply removed with a towel and the service continued. What bothered me the most was the no-chip removal process. Rather than properly soaking the polish off, a rough nail file that felt like a piece of sandpaper was used repeatedly on my nails. It was uncomfortable, actually hurt, and left me questioning whether proper removal techniques were being followed. I've visited several student salons before and understand that students are learning, but this experience was nowhere near the standard I've come to expect. I left disappointed and would not return or recommend it to others.

As a former student of Denmark barber school, I would not recommend this school to anyone. When I…read moresigned up for school it was made to seem that there was education and class time every day, and a clientele for hands on training. After being in the 1500 -hour program for 150 hours I left the freshman class and went to the sophomore/junior class. In the sophomore/junior class I was put on the clinic floor without my own tools and equipment and without any formal hair cutting instruction from any of the instructors. If I was lucky enough to get tools one day they would be from the "loaner tool program", broken, dirty, and damaged. The seats and tools are "first come, first serve", there aren't enough barber chairs for all of the students, leading to students standing around getting no education for their money. The clientele was slim until Thursday afternoons and Fridays, so days would go by doing just 1 or maybe 2 cuts, and unless you asked to expand your clientele, the instructors would only let students cut the hair or clients with similar skin tone and hair type, black barbers cut black clients, whites cut hair for the whites, Indians and asians. It wasn't until I clocked 500 hours, a third of the program, until I was given my own tools, again with no education on what the tools were or how to use/adjust them. The daily class time was everything but class time, was more watching the sophomore/junior teacher eat her lunch for 2.5 hours and then occasionally reading word for word from a text book. Overall Denmark College pushed me away from barbering, putting me on a shop floor with no hair cutting demonstration or instruction did not help my confidence level whatsoever. Denmark Barber College should not be consider a "College" or a "school", they are more interested in picking favorites and treating only some of the students, all of which or grown men and women, like it's deans at a highshool, less interested in success and growth of a student and more interested in enforcing rules on random days of the week to those who don't kiss up to them. My only good experience was meeting the senior teacher, Darcell, who had an interest in seeing students get licensed and for the most part did his part to help students get ready to pass the state board exam. Darcell was a big part of connecting myself and others to shop owners. Again, I would not recommend for anyone to attend this "school", it's simply a facility to clock 1500 hours.

Going in to the performance, I keptr my expectations in check for my daughter, both in terms of her comfort of being on stage and her playing ability. I was so impressed with how polished the bands actually sounded. They were all playing music I really enjoy, and doing it really well. I'm even more excited to see how my daughter progresses going forward, and I'm legitimately looking forward to future performances, simply for the chance to listen to good music played well. Collin is also very fair at trying to make sure we are treated fairly when it comes to getting fair value for what we pay for by way of rescheduling lessons and/or crediting us to compensate when makeup lessons aren't an option. *Update as of 12/30/2017 I wrote my previous review based on my personal experience with the intention of returning to resume lessons after taking a short hiatus. I was informed 2 nights ago by a friend that School of Rock abruptly ended their adult program without giving the adult students any notice. I still stand by my positive praise for the teachers. They are great. However this sudden move to end a program that many of us enjoyed and looked forward to without warning is disappointing. This move applies to only 3 locations owned by the same owner. Perhaps there are other SOR facilities that are managed more effectively to accommodate the workload?? I will miss going there and miss the instructors. My experiences with the Elmhurst teachers are nothing less than great. My disappointment with the sudden abandonment of the adult program without any notice remains intact.
