I was able to find a worker who was very helpful in locating what I needed. He scanned the code on my phone, and was able to locate the box within an aisle of boxes. Nontheless, we enjoy Princess Auto for their vast inventory of products.

Donovan's…read moreHardware has been a staple in the community for years, serving the good people of Gananoque not just hardware but also nick-knacks and decorations for the home, yard, cottage, what have you. As soon as you enter, you're faced with what amounts to organized chaos. The family-run business may seem to be completely asunder, but a few trips there and you get to know where everything is. If you can't find what you're looking for, just ask any of the staff. I once owned an old stove-top percolating coffee maker and the glass stopper at the top broke. Not knowing where to start looking for something like this, I went to Donovan's. Once I described the item, the only questions I was asked were "How many?" and "What colour?" Yeah, they've pretty much got everything.

We headed to Donevan's on the advice of another Yelper (thanks friend!) and are so glad we did. We…read morefound what we were looking for: souvenir tee-shirts that were well-made and not tacky and some really cute gifts for friends. All were quite inexpensive. But the store itself intrigued us; it's stocked not just with hardware but a huge selection of "stuff" for yard and home along with providing advice on everything from plumbing to screen repairs. It just has to be a really popular place for residents of Gananoque to shop, and since it dates back to 1872 and is operated by the fifth generation Donevan family we think that's definitely the case. It's right on King Street in the heart of Gananoque, a cute Canadian town that we enjoyed visiting. You won't go wrong to drop by here if you're in the neighborhood.

Over the past three years of renovations to an older house, including complete gut and re-do of the upstairs we have only once needed something that wasn't in stock and it turned out no one had it in stock in the greater 1000 island area. In the end we found another solution to the problem with some help from the staff at Home Hardware. The friendly, knowledgeable staff has always answered questions without making assumptions about the level of knowledge of the customer. As a female with both strong carpentry/plumbing skills and large gaps with no technical terms for what I want this has been greatly appreciated! They also have a range of other departments. Furniture, housewares, giftwares, petcare (equine too), garden, paint and probably more that escape me right now..

I checked them when I got to my car and returned to the store to see if they could rectify the issue. They told me that there was an issue with the files (due to their software) and I had to resend the photos. I ran across the street to a local business that I knew would let me use their computer because I had issue accessing their website on my phone. It took about 10 minutes. As soon as I resent them I called Camera Kingston to make sure they were sent properly. They said that the woman who took care of printing had left 5 minutes prior and they would be unable to help me. What incredibly poor customer service. 1. There was an obvious issue with the prints. They could have contacted me before printing to correct the issue before hand. 2. No one mentioned the issue when I picked up the prints. We could have corrected the issue then 3. When I returned to the store no one informed me that the print lab closed at 5 (which was 10 minutes away) even though they are open until 7. 4. When I called and tried to confirm the correct files were sent, they offered me no solutions and were of no help. I asked explicitly, twice "Is there nothing you can do to help me?" and was told the print lab was closed. 3 8x10 prints were $20 - which i insisted they refund. I'll be getting them done at Walmart for $5 instead. So much for supporting locally owned business.
