Highly recommend the Serrano, grilled chicken and sun dried tomatoes, with a sweet chill dip. Its gets very busy in there and seating can be hard to find, but its well worth the wait, the staff are attentive and helpful, and will serve you a glass of naturally flavoured water (currently cucumber) upon arrival which sounds weird but is actually really tasty and refreshing. Located at the top of Beckenham close to the station, this place is perfect stop for lunch before embarking on a trek around Beckenham place park to burn off that slice of chocolate orange cake.

Anyway, we walked down to the cafe... for those of you needing to drive, there are car parks near the High Street. Also, make sure you stop at one of the cash points along the way as the last time we were there, it was cash only. In fact, I noticed quite a few cafes in Beckenham are cash only. Its a cute cafe with quite a bit of seating inside, although it can get a bit cozy when it is busy, and a few tables outside. The menu has quite a few breakfast options... but the combos are designed with different audiences in mind. For example they have a combo for people who want to load up on carbs, one called the Body Boost, one for people who need more iron, etc. I went with the carb one... Mr. Snarky went for the Body Boost. The portions are quite large, so in terms of value, its quite good. I wasn't a fan of their bubble and squeak... it was just mushy and there wasn't much flavour. The other thing I didn't really understand is that you get a bit of fried bread and you get a slice of bread with butter... but toast costs and extra 30p. Genuinely, I'm baffled by that one. The rest of the food was perfectly fine... nothing fancy and it is certainly filling. It is a reasonably popular place. I don't know if they take reservations, but late morning seems to be the most busy. Its a cheap and cheerful option for fuss-free breakfast!

We appreciate Zola's initiative as fellow gelato lovers, because Unico really spares no expense to bring the best Gelato from Italy to Bromley's doorstep (those local to Bromley - be appreciative as others like me travel far to get a taste of the wondrous gelato). The actual store is owned and run by the very sharp and considered Elena Manfroni. As for the gelato itself my favourites are the Pistachio and Bacio - both also contain pistachio and hazelnuts (something very uncommon of other gelateria's as its quite a high cost!) The coffee flavour is good, and I also had a flat white which was delicious. Apparently the coffee itself is sourced from a store in Bologna. Everything here is prepared fresh daily and it really is a must stop for anyone visiting Bromley. Superb!

There is outdoor seating, but also quite a bit of indoor seating... it goes back for ages. The back part of the cafe has a seating with a play area for children. So definitely a family friendly spot. The staff were too busy to seat us, so we grabbed a couple of menus and found our own table. The problem is that there are three different types of menus and we only grabbed two... the main menu and the drink menu. We missed the breakfast menu and based on what we saw, that was probably a mistake. We just assumed that the menu had changed over, but now we know for next time. They have a good selection...something for everyone! I chose the Chicken and Halloumi Salad while Mr. Snarky went for a chicken wrap. I was surprised that Mr. Snarky didn't order a milkshake or a smoothie, but we saw a lot of them and they are impressive! My salad was massive and came with some pitta bread on the side. The only criticism about the salad was that there wasn't much dressing on it. Perhaps they could bring vinegar and oil to the table or put the dressing on the side so it isn't all at the bottom of the bowl. Mr. Snarky wasn't very impressed with his wrap, but did like the fries. To be honest, I'm not entirely surprised, hummus is not really is thing, but I'm glad he gave it a try. My peach iced tea really hit the spot though. The only other issue with our visit is that there was some sort of repair being made and there was a lot noise from the vacuum. Otherwise, I think we will be back to try breakfast some time!
