My husband gifted me with a gift card for a signature mani & pedi! I called pretty far in advance and they worked with me to make sure I would have an appointment where I would not be rushed or anything. At the Hamburg location, the nails section was all upstairs. They had relaxing music playing and the waiting room was decorated to be super modern and almost cosmopolitan glam. I didn't have to wait long. Everyone wore a mask appropriately. They had a great selection of polish. The manicure and pedicure was great. Lots of moisturizing treatments with warm gloves and paraffin wax. They offered coffee, yea, or water during the pedicure. Everything was really clean and sanitized in between clients. This experience was also on target with what you would pay at some of the local competitors, like Kim Lee or young nails and the experience was just much more elegant and relaxing. read more

My daughter and I have not been here since the manicurist cut her skin on her finger. It bled like crazy. This time we went for a relaxing pedicure to use up gift certificates. The massage I received during the pedicure was very good, but sadly she cut my skin with her file, on my great toe and 3 toe, and cut the nails too short and I fear I may end up with ingrown toenail on same great toe. I came here to the Hamburg location today for a cut and color. Today was the last day they were open before Cuomo was closing businesses again because of our high Covid rates. The decor is really modern and cool in here. The staff are nice. Unlike the South Buffalo location, if you're getting a cut and color, it's all on the first floor. You don't have to go upstairs for color and back downstairs for the actual cut. My stylist was Karen. She is friendly and kind. She did a great job with my hair!!! I'm really happy with it. I didn't have to wait long, once I checked in. That's a big plus in my book. (This place is appointment only. Karen wasn't running behind from her last customer though. That made me happy.) They have a policy that was instituted, when they reopened in June (or July.) You can pay via credit card. If you do that, make sure you have a cash tip. There is a fee added to your card, if you put the tip on the card, so the stylists don't have to claim it. All in all, I liked my stylist and how well she did my hair. (She sort of did a bob. I had her do an all over color and it came out as a chocolate cherry color because of the highlights I already had in my hair.) I'll definitely be back, when they can reopen. read more

Horrible customer service. My dad and I bought my mom a gift card -- we asked that it be the amount equal to a signature pedi. Cortos has no record of the gift card/amount it holds in their system -- it was clearly lost or improperly inputted into the system and my mom has now been going back and forth with them for over two months trying to get this resolved. They acknowledge that the gift card has money on it but won't let her use it because they don't know how much (even though we stated it was for a signature pedi). The manager has not made any effort to get back to my mom, and my mom constantly has to call to check in on the status of this. The owners have been on "vacation" for these past two months so they've also been no help. I'm so surprised to have received service like this from an upscale spa and frustrated my mom can't use her gift from us. We've been coming here for years but after this I will not be supporting them any longer. read more

The Hamburg and OP location are great!!! The one in south Buffalo is a whole other story! I went in for a trim I believe it was with Laura or Lori and she ended up taking over an inch off my already short hair, then proceeded to tell me it was my fault for leaning back. I'm sorry, but if I was "leaning back" wouldn't you realize it and correct it or ask me to put my head down? Then when she cut it too short, said sorry (in a snarky way) and sent me to the receptionist to cash out. Then charged me full price!!! Not happy and will never go to this location!!! read more

My friend surprised me with a facial and massage here the other day. she had prepaid for everything earlier in the day so the girls at the front desk took a few extra minutes to find the appointments. We waited in the tranquility room before we were greeted by our specialists. Hey had water, tea, and cookies for you while you waited if you wanted them. I started with the facial with Quinn. she was lovely and explained every step that she was doing, and the type of products she was using. She was very good at what she does! The only strange thing was they do a foot massage to start, which is not normal for a facial but it was still nice. After my facial I then had my massage with Trisha. She asked if there were any special concerns which I didn't have, so off to swedish massage bliss I went! I didn't want it to end. I made an appointment for the Wednesday before Thanksgiving at 2:30p. The Stylist IMMEDIATELY made me feel rushed and was not welcoming at all. When I make a hair appointment I want the experience and its a day for me to feel pampered. She made me feel like she needed to get me out as soon as possible. The stylist was flying through my coloring and I also showed her a picture of what I was looking for. I did NOT get that design. I spent a crazy amount of money for something I do NOT like. My daughter started going to Corto's and loved it at first. Then, her hair dresser left abruptly. She cycled through several more over the past two or three years, and each time she found one she liked, the person would disappear by the next time she went in. Corto's cycles through too many stylists, and that makes the experience unreliable at best. They need to reassess their hiring/retention practices. It's really a shame. read more

I love Corto's! I've gone to both the Hamburg and Orchard Park locations. My bf and I go to the Hamburg location for couples massages, and we always enjoy them. Rachel is a wonderful masseuse, and the staff makes the entire experience comfortable and relaxing. I have also gotten a few haircuts at the Hamburg location. When scheduling the haircut appointment over the phone, I really liked that they asked what kind of hairstyle I wanted. I did in fact want a short style, so they made sure to schedule me with someone who specialized in short styles. For the Orchard Park location, I like to go see Nicole for facials and eyebrow waxing, and I also loved getting my nails done by Dawn (Dee). I've received various services here over the years and have been generally satisfied. However, beware Gift Certificates; my children gave us a couples' massage with lunch one Christmas. The massages were wonderful but personnel forgot to schedule the lunch which was to follow. Recently we received 90 minute Couples' massages. When I called to schedule, I was specific about the 90 minutes. However, when we went for the massages, they were only 60 minutes, despite my reminding the young lady at the registration desk the Gift Certificates specifically indicated 90 minutes. I've been coming here for years for massages and facials. It's generally been great. I've noticed the place getting a little more dingy (probably time to redo the upstairs like they did the downstairs) but it was still ok. Had an experience on a weekend in November that took me to I will not be back: it was so cold in there that I was shivering and couldn't enjoy my massage. Every time my masseuse undraped me to work on an arm or leg, I wanted to pull it back under the blanket. She said she couldn't do anything about the temperature. I got an apology when I complained at check out but still had to pay $85 for a bad experience. No thanks, that was not relaxing. Will find somewhere else. read more

Went in to get my hair colored at 9am this morning at the Hamburg location. The girl at the front desk checked me in. I left at 9:45 because no one came to get me and the girl at the front desk did not acknowledge that I had been waiting for 45 minutes. I told the girl I was leaving and she was apologetic but had no idea why the girl did not come up to get me. And after I left, no one called me to explain why I had to wait 45 minutes or apologize. Worst service I ever received there and I've been going there for over 15 years. Unfortunately this is not the first time this has happened. I will be finding a new salon. read more

I received a gift card for a gel manicure for my birthday, and decided to make an appointment to get my nails ready for the holiday season. My initial appointment was 12/3 at 8am. I love that the salon has early morning appointments. I arrived right on time, checked in with the front desk, located at the rear of the salon. I was informed to head upstairs, and Katie, the manicurist I was seeing, would be right with me. About 5 minutes later, I was settled in and my manicure started. Katie was very friendly during the appointment, and I was in and out within 35 minutes. I loved the color of my nails, and the shape Katie had filed them. Fast-forward to 3 days later. On Tuesday afternoon, I had taken my gloves off, and felt a pulling sensation on my right pointer finger nail. I thought I had somehow ripped my entire nail off, but when I looked down, I realized that the gel polish had somehow cracked at the edge near the middle of my nail, and peeled back on the entire tip of my nail. I was pretty upset since it had only been 3 days since my manicure, so I reached out to the salon via Facebook messaging. The salon owner responded within 5 minutes, and informed me the salon would be happy to fix the issue, and I provided her my phone number as she requested so she could call me to schedule an appointment. The owner contacted me Wednesday morning as promised, and we able to fit me in for an appointment Thursday (12/8) evening at 5:30pm in order to fix my nail. While I was only looking to get my right pointer finger fixed, the owner informed me that Katie would redo the entire manicure in case there was an issue with the polish not setting correctly. Very good customer service. This is where things went south. I arrived at the salon on Thursday evening at 5:25pm for my 5:30pm appointment. I checked in with the receptionist downstairs, and she informed me to head upstairs and Katie would be me with shortly. I went upstairs and had a seat in the receptionist area, and wait. For 15 minutes. During my wait at least 2 employees passed me at least twice, and not once was I asked who I was waiting for. I headed back downstairs, around 5:42pm, to see what the delay was. I informed the same receptionist who I checked in with that I had been waiting for about 15 minutes. She asked me if I had been upstairs yet, and I informed her that is where I had been waiting. She then looked at her computer, and said Katie would be right with me. I headed back upstairs, and then proceeded to wait for an additional 10 minutes before Katie finally came upstairs to get me for my appointment. At this point, I had been waiting for over a half hour. Katie led me to her station, and I had showed her where my nail polish had peeled away. She told me she would redo all of my nails, and I thanked her. She replied: I didn't think you would mind. I thought this was a little abrasive, but I shrugged it off. Katie then wrapped my nails with remover and tinfoil, slipped hot mitts onto my hands, and then got up and left me alone for about 15 minutes while the gel softened. During this entire process, she didn't say anything to me, or check in on me at all. When she came back, she attempted some small talk, but it didn't go very far. My second manicure was not as good as my first. There is a small air bubble, or bump of some kind, on my right ring finger and there are silver specks on a few of my nails (I have on OPI Kiss me or elf, a dark purplish red shade). I didn't notice this until after I had left the salon, and I didn't have the desire to go back and point it out. Overall, my first experience was great and the customer service from the owner was phenomenal, which is why I am giving them 3 stars instead of 2. However, due to my second experience, I highly doubt I will ever go back to that salon. This is a disappointment to me because I have been looking for a good manicurist since I moved to Hamburg about a year and a half ago. I guess my search continues. read more

I cannot comment on any of the spa treatments here, since I only went in to have my hair done. The receptionists are always smiley and polite, and wait time is often dependent on how early you arrive, or if your stylist has a customer taking a bit longer than usual. I ALWAYS go to Jessi, and have never once left feeling as though my hair was anything less than a masterpiece. She is super sweet, polite and creative, often treating your hair like a piece of art. I often requested bright, rich colors and she always mixed different shades to make up her own. After a few visits with her I was comfortable enough to say "just do what you want," and would leave looking amazing. I now live in Arizona and have yet to find anyone that could even come close. If you're looking for an awesome, funky, young style, cut or color, make an appointment with Jessi, you won't regret it. read more

(For color virgins: some color applications can leave your hair feeling crunchy or icky if they're not done correctly). She also did a few light fixes to the cut at no additional charge. My experience at Cortos salon has been one of extreme relaxation for many years and I have to say; Cortos just keeps getting better. The staff here are attentive and professional, yet personable. The massage therapist, Sakina especially is amazing. I believe Sakina can intuit one's pain and cures you with her touch. Sakina is more than a massage therapist, she is a modern-day healer. Cortos has two locations that I switch back and forth from. Hamburg and South Buffalo. I love both of them although I find the one in Hamburg to have better stylists for the younger crowd, while I would recommend the Cortos in South Buffalo to my mother. At the Hamburg location, I had Claire S. whom I would recommend to anyone and everyone that goes there. She is extremely difficult to get an appointment with. Usually she has a month or so waiting list so I always make sure to make an appointment ahead of time. The last time I went, I was going from a horrible orange rusty color to a bleach blonde... everywhere else I went to was afraid to go near my head because it was so overprocessed that they were afraid that it would fall out haha. Claire took it as a challenge and worked her magic. I was there for 3 hours because we weren't getting to the color that she was looking for. Eventually we got it, and it turned out perfect. There was never a moment that I was left without a drink or discussion. Even when she had to leave the color set and took care of another customer, she made sure to still include me in the conversation. Hope her other customer didn't mind! I havent been in the South Buffalo location since they remodled it, but I hear it looks awesome! Only problem is that they seemed to have raised their prices there. Alright. So. Let me begin by saying that I am a 21 year old college senior stressed out to the max by working two jobs, an internship and school full time. The stresses of the world have caught up to me and I needed something to relax a bit. My wondrous female companion got me a nice 60 minute hot stone massage at this wonderful establishment for Valentine's Day. I thought the stones were rad, and who doesn't like warm stones being rubbed upon thy person. Right? Right. Well. I booked this appointment over the phone, receptionist was super cool, got my appointment set in no time. AND. THE KICKER. Text message notifications. Boom. Radical, man. Anywho. This place is cool. Large, comfortable, radical (dude), relaxing, and most of all, rad (yeah. That rad). So I get into the place, it's my first time getting a massage and first time going to this spa, everyone was super nice. Offering me free food (you can't pass up free food), I got to hangout in the "Tranquility Room", and I must say it was, in fact, tranquil. Surprise surprise. I got in a bit early too, and I was taken a bit early so it all worked out. My massage therapist person was Rachel (AKA female Jesus, keep reading and you'll understand) and she was awesome. The rooms are sweet, the atmosphere is great, they are clean and relaxing. So. I get in there, Rachel gives me the low down, asks some questions and all, and then once I have disrobed (Rachel was not in the room, obviously), the epicness began. Now, I wasn't aware that a human could feel like they have 47 hands, but Female Jesus (Rachel) did. At least that's the way it felt. As soon as the massage began I felt as though Jesus himself descended from the heavens and was massaging my person for 60 whole minutes. The entire massage went by faster than an Internet sensations fame. I was sad when Female Jesus said it was over. I cried. All in all. A fantastic experience, I highly recommend these guys and ladies. The experience was excellent, I will be back with my female companion for a couples massage. Go here if you can. DO IT. read more

Very nice/clean salon. I have been there to get my nails done 3 times (wedding parties). The girls are nice but the service is below mediocre. For what you pay, they should be doing more than just painting your nails. There is no soak or cuticle cutting and my gel polish has never lasted more than 3-4 days after they do it. Definitely not worth the $45 for manicure- it should be called 'nail painting' since that is the only thing that is done (all 3 times). As someone who gets my nails done regularly, save money and gave a real manicure at one of the Asian places, they really know what they are doing. You're pretty much paying extra for less to just have Americans paint your nails. I wouldn't go there on my own. read more

I received a haircut at Cortos about 2 months ago. The reason I am writing this now is because I am due for a haircut and i remembered the experience I had the last time. I felt like the stylist was angry at me. She was insulting about my hair. I understand it was in rough shape, but you don't need to insult me. I'm paying you. Not to mention the whole 45 mins she worked on my hair she was trying to sell me products. I was like a captive audience. 9 different products were brought over and place in front of me with a plug to buy each one. I didn't buy anything. Especially since the stylist must have sensed that I was annoyed, she whispered where to buy the products cheaper. This isn't the first time I have had a less than pleasing experience at Cortos. Ranging from a problem on my wedding day last summer to stylists running late for the appointments (like 25 minutes late). I will not go back. read more

Basically this spa is only getting 3 stars and not less is because of my actual massage. My husband had gotten my mother and I massages here for Mother's Day. He called the spa in orchard park but they only have one room so instead of making us wait for each other he decided to have the massages done at this spa. The spa was texting my husband saying that we were all set for our appointment but this was a surprise for Mother's Day that luckily I had not seen or it would have ruined the surprise. The text also had the wrong time of the appointment. So my husband called and the receptionist claims that there was someone else that has the same first and last night as me coming in at the same time for pedicures but we weren't getting pedicures. Pedicures sounded nice so we asked if we can get them before our massages but the spa was booked. So we got to the spa and were sitting in the waiting area and the masseuse came and introduced herself to my mother and took her to the room. Then 25 min later then my appointment a girl tells me she is ready for me but never introduces herself. So the massage was great and wonderful. After I was done and met with my mother she informed me that they overbooked us and thats why I had to wait. I looked around and everything was shut down even the salon. The spa closes at 6 and it was only 5 so it felt like we were being pushed at. Then it turns out that my mother received a coupon for her next visit but I was never given one even though it was my appointment that was messed up and no one came to apologize to me. I recently visited Corto's Salon because I was given a gift card, and because I had a special event to attend. I made an appointment for a wash and blowout. The women who did my hair wasn't the most friendly. I tried to make conversation here and there, but she was uninterested and kept a scowl on her face. As far as my hair, I left disappointed. The top was not smoothed out, and when I got into the car, I noticed that my hair was still wet underneath. I went home, had to dry the rest of my hair, and pretty much re-do it. Best massage of my life! One of the worst hair experiences though. I pretty much didnt have a say on my cut or color and left with a raw scalp. The lady scrubbed my head as she washed it and yanked and pulled as she cut and styled. Started tearing up as I sat in agony while she washed my hair. I wanted to leave right then. Corto's Salon in Hamburg was busy and welcoming. Had hair cut by the owner, Dominic, and was very happy with the experience and results. He is knowledgeable and really pays attention to find out what you want (imagine -- a man who pays attention! haha), then takes his time tailoring the cut to your individual preferences. I used to get my hair done here years ago, but switched to a different salon after a move. I recently decided to go back to Corto's after realizing I had not been happy with my hair for ages. I booked Corto's-Hamburg for hair and makeup for my wedding day. Initially, they were kind and responsive. As the wedding came closer it became much more apparent how unorganized and unprofessional this company is. There were multiple missed emails, issues with scheduling, and it was obvious I was just another paycheck for them. On the day of the wedding the specific products and makeup that we planned on using at the trial run was not used and dismissed when asked about. Due to the fact that they over-booked for this day, they arrived significantly earlier than planned and clearly rushed through everyones hair and makeup. They were in such a rush, they did a burn-out when leaving the property. Though the hair was done at a satisfactory level, the makeup was terrible. It looked half completed and because of that, my bridesmaid had to completely re-do my makeup. Overall, I am extremely disappointed with the service and quality provided by Corto's. If you're looking for over-priced, convenient, and low quality, this is the place for you. If you want to look your best on your wedding day, go elsewhere. read more
