I was well taken care of immediately: EKG, chest Xray, vitals. My DX was I contracted one of many viruses that have easily spread due to a Covid-fearing population more or less in isolation for 2+ years. Bottom line, the ER Doc said the hacking, death rattle cough can take up to 6 months to resolve. Ibuprofen is about the only analgesic that can bring relief for achy shoulders from coughing. I really want to thank everyone at Guthrie Cortland ER.To a person, they were informative, caring and compassionate.

The PA on duty was exceptional. She walked me through each step of the exam, explained everything clearly, and managed to be both professional and caring. I visited the office to schedule an appointment. I was given an application to fill out. I said I'm not applying for a job, I want to make an appointment. They said I needed to apply to become a new patient. I've never heard of anything like that nor has anyone else. I have excellent insurance and no serious medical issues. I completed their application and left. A few days later I received a call saying all of their doctors were NOT taking new patients. I told them I clearly stated my urgency when I stopped in and was told they were taking new patients. Now I find out that wasn't true and I wasted 4 days waiting. They CLEARLY don't care about people's well being. In visiting many other doctors in my area I found many are under the Family Care Medical Group. I visited 5 with similar bad results. I would not trust these insensitive, uncaring people with my healthcare.

I have been trying to resolve a billing concern with Guthrie for over a month, and the biggest…read morefrustration has been the lack of communication and accountability. Despite requesting to communicate in writing, I kept receiving generic responses directing me to call a phone number. The most surprising response came from Guthrie Support, which stated that they "do not have contact information for the Director of Orthopedics" Ben Robinson and instructed me to call the appointments line and request to be transferred to the Orthopedics Department. In 2026, when appointments, billing, test results, and patient communication are handled electronically, it is difficult to understand why there is no direct written email or contact and why patients are repeatedly told to call a general phone number instead. More than a month later, the only update we received was that the Coding Department had requested a corrected insurance claim. The issue was still not resolved, and we continued receiving generic responses directing us to call instead of providing a direct written communication channel. Below is there copied response : Thank you for your inquiry. We have reviewed your account. Unfortunately, we do not have contact information for the Director of Orthopedics. We recommend contacting your Orthopedics provider through MyChart, as they may be able to assist with obtaining the appropriate contact information. One day, the office called 5 minutes before my appointment and asked me to reschedule. We were almost there. I did not complain.
