Vending machines in the wait room
Kanchan B.

Mum found a coupon in a local magazine for this place and so we decide to come here on her bday for a mother-daughter massage deal - it was only $35 for both of us!! Getting to the location was easy but parking was a bit difficult. If you go in the main entrance to the building, the college is located on the ground floor to the right (mum is a veteran attendee of this place and told me it was previously on the 1st floor). Check-in was easy since we had an appointment made a week earlier and the we headed towards the back to a waiting room. The waiting room had tons of tables and chairs and played new-age music while we waited for about an hour actually as they were a bit short-staffed!!! Frankly wasn't the great having to wait although they had some decent magazines and snack plus drink vending machines in tr waiting area. So finally my student-masseuse came and called my name - followed her down to the massage area where the massage table was freshly made up. En route I was asked about health conditions, preferences, problem area, what work I did, etc. I must say my student-masseuse did an AMAZING job! There was a knot in my upper right shoulder that I was unaware of and then suddenly under her maagical hands, it was gone! Loved the pressure applied and my whole body was humming and felt incredibly refreshed afterwards! I would totally recommend giving this place a go, but it's not a complete 5 star due to the wait so would advise only booking an appointment if you have time to spare. Note: #132 of Yelp 100 challenge for 2016

The interior of the building the school is in.

This is the second time my sister and I go to get a massage here. The interior is really nice and it kinda smells like pumpkin spice (which was kinda nice). The staff is very nice and professional. Getting an appointment is extremely hard though. The first time I got a full massage, but the second time around the staff were coming in late and my massage got cut in half. The light in the room where really bright (gave me a slight headache). But overall I do enjoy getting a message in a reasonable price, so it's pretty nice.

Finally down to last few gift certificates I'd purchased; and unfortunately, still difficult to get a "massage" appointment.

You just can't beat a $25 50-minute massage. My husband and I registered for Sunday appointments, but there are options on Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays at 1 and 2pm. When we arrived, there was a very smooth check in process and we just had to fill out a quick questionnaire about our wellness, experience with massages, injuries. and preferences. We were then each assigned a student. He got a female and I had a male student. Both were very professional, reviewed our charts with us, asked the right questions, and helped us transition from the changing room to the tables (which was a strange process I'll tell you about later.) The massages take place in a room with twelve massage tables and partitions. It's pretty quiet for the most part, but not everyone starts at the same time so there was quite a bit of noise at the end when others were finishing earlier before us. The massages themselves were great! They were just as good as what I'd expect to pay full price for at a chain massage spa. The students adjusted to any preferences or comments that I had, and were very attentive to my requests. I think sometimes a student massage can be even better than a professional massage because they're trying to hard to get it just right for you, and really putting in a conscious effort. I have nothing but great things to say about the quality of my massage, and my husband agreed about his! However, this was between a 4 and 5 star review for me. The reason I almost docked a star is the awkward and somewhat-uncomfortable undressing/dressing process. Because the massage studio isn't private, you have to get changed in either the bathroom or one of the breakrooms, then walk to the massage table through a room of people wrapped in a towel. The student are super skilled at making sure that nobody sees your bits and pieces, but it still takes away from the overall experience. However, it's totally understandable that they are doing their best given the facilities and they do truly do a great job. Thus, a 5 star experience due to massage quality, professionalism, and value. Highly recommend!

READ THIS BEFORE YOU APPLY TO THE LPN PROGRAM…read more I am making this post because I don't want anyone else having to go into this Without knowing exactly what this program and school are like. 1. If you are expecting to pay for someone to actually teach you, this is not the place for you. The teachers here literally do not want to teach, probably because they have no idea how to. Only one of the actually cared, and when she lectured, we actually learned and had class discussions about the topics at hand. The rest would either A) split up part of a chapter and have the class make posters all day and then present to the class, B)split up a chapter (med surg chapters, so think disorders, nursing interventions, and meds, pretty important stuff that I don't believe students who have no prior knowledge or experience should be teaching other students in the same class, isn't that why the instructors are there for?) C) get the senior class to teach it to the class behind them. There were unfortunately very few times that we got a lecture. 2. The head teacher is a bully, and she likes to play favorites. Lord help you if you get on her bad side. Singles out students, makes fun of them, talks about them to OTHER STUDENTS behind their backs. Certain rules apply to certain students but not others because she likes them. If you end up enrolling, do not trust her. She likes to power trip. A lot. If she doesn't get her way, she will play dirty till she does, and all the other teachers, including people above her seem scared of her for some reason. 3. Grades are messed with. Again, if you do or say anything that upsets a certain someone, grades mysteriously suffer. Doesn't help that you cannot see your test grades unless you fail it. So you never really ever know what you got wrong. And this isn't just coming from student experience. People in the office warned us about her and the grades. 4. They are just as bad at teaching skills as they are lecturing. Complete disorganization. No demonstrations. We were told to read the book and figure it out. If we asked them a question, they would yell at us to look in the book. It was all in the book. The book was our teacher. Are you doing it wrong? Who knows? We can't ask the book questions, can we? Some students asked if they could please demonstrate for the class first and then have us practice, they would say no. "That's not the way it works in the real world" or "no one is going to show you how to do this in the hospital, if you don't know, you have to go and figure it out". Yeeeaaa... pretty sure patients and their families don't want you to "figure it out" at the hospital, but ok. 5. Speaking of skills, let's talk about clinicals. So, you learned all these skills in class, and clinical is the time to get your hands dirty and reinforce the skills you learned, right? Nope! Can't give shots, can't pass med, can't take vitals, can't do anything, except practice CNA skills. We saw other nursing students from other schools get assigned to a nurse and do everything with the RN, but not us. We were not allowed to. 6. The school administration is a joke. They knew about the bullying, they knew about the retaliation, they knew absolutely everything that was going on upstairs, but they didn't care. Kept telling us that they were working on fixing the situation, nothing ever happened. They don't care. I have never in my life seen more incompetent people working in a school than this one. 7. Although the school promotes itself as a "college", expect to be treated like a middle schooler. While I do understand that there are dual enrollment students at the school (high schoolers), that is no reason to treat grown adult student like children. You will be talked down to. A LOT. Literally no respect whatsoever. Sometimes you even forget that you are an adult in this place. Valencia and Seminole also have dual enrollment, and everyone is treated in a professional manner, regardless of your age, so that is no excuse. 8. Disorganization rules this school. In the class, downstairs, everywhere. Tests are announced last minute, or you are given literally days to read and learn a whole med surg chapter (50-90+ pages each). 9. Let's talk pharmacology. Very important in nursing. We never ever ever EVER had a single pharmacology lecture. AT ALL! Never! All we got were packets. That's it. So that pharm class on your class schedule, forget about it. Doesn't exist. The meds we did learn, we learned in the med surg chapters. That was the extent of our exposure to pharm. I wanted to write this so other people know exactly what they are getting into, because I wish I had known, so I could have made an informed decision ( run for the hills!). There was so very little information available, and had I known about the toxic environment that I would be getting myself into, I would have never ever gone to this "college".

The lobby is very pleasant and professional looking, but they make you sign-in at this other section and it in general very roundabout and slightly confusing on where to go. You also have a choice of male or female therapist (or either) when you call to make an appointment which was a nice touch. The room is dimly lit and is divided by curtains with other appointments with music playing in the background. You can hear other people talking which isn't too distracting but might be for some people. My therapist was very professional and told me I could undress down to whatever I was comfortable doing. It was my first time getting a massage, but she was very sweet and offered me a full body massage, which felt amazing. Very excited to come here again!

Anyway, I came in one Saturday morning with my boyfriend and his dad. Due to a special going on that day we paid for the price of 2.5 massages (we got one half off). The process is as follows: You come in, you fill out a sheet about what parts of your body you need/want worked on, a student comes in and talks to you about what you filled out on the sheet, you walk into a room divided by sheets. You undress to your level of comfort and the student focuses on the areas you talked about. You can talk as much, or as little, as you wish to the student. I heard a lot of conversations going on (my student was very quiet, so not too much communication going on there) After your massage you get dressed, head back to the reception area, make comments on the student's book and you talk to the student about how your massage went. Then you pay and you're off to your regular day. My boyfriend and his dad had really good massage therapist students, while mine was so-so and very awkward (her name escapes me at the moment). Anyway, I greatly recommend this place. It's a great value for a mediocre-to-good massage!
