I worked as the clinic coordinator from July 2020 - August 2021 I was let go after finally reporting to HR I was in a hostile and uncomfortable work environment ...
Our students did a great job following guidelines to ensure the needs of the clients were met and will forever be appreciative of them for their time and professionalism. It is unfortunate the trouble students had to endure. Missing hours, grades, little no support from leadership, feeling uncomfortable by the male Admissions reps in the building before blending more female, lack of mediation between students and teachers, limited resources for MTA transit student discounts or access to monthly passes, holistic counselling, domestic abuse support (besides telling other peoples business of abuse with no follow resolution) actual problem solving, plus more. Students have suffered due to the turn over rate of instructors causing a lapse in knowledge during this accelerated program. Nevertheless, there is a quality education there but Cortiva Institute Baltimore location struggles with many things. It is the nurtured dynamic that is Dysfunction which affects Cortiva Baltimore location as a whole. A teacher told grown adults to sit in the corner which set a fearful tone in the classroom causing anxiety and stress...... From the disrespect to subordinates on the corporate level, to the messy leadership at the local level that will share your personal business to others as a means of gain or excuse to poor behavior..... My experience as clinic coordinator was filled with highs and lows, I loved the student interaction and collaborating with the educators and customer service with clientele. But my first 2 weeks there I was cursed at by a student with no consequence, later cursed out again with a client witness and was told she called you a bitch its not like she said, fuck you like the one student said the director of admission ( who was expelled), then threatened to get dragged, just to name a few, then later disrespected my a colleague in a room full of my peers. HOSTILE AND DYSFUNCTINAL..... The chaos is orchestrated by leadership that lacks a soul....... My poor former colleagues are threatened with soft threats, being discouraged to talk to other colleagues or going into their office for any peer comradery. Several months ago director of Admissions and the Campus Director who've worked along side each other for years thought it would be funny to tell the story of SD... At another school the Campus Director had a reputation for being called the "SLAVE DRIVER", not giving people any rest with his tactics of leadership, they laughed and he was very proud. To expound on this, there aren't any all inclusive staff meetings held for every department and every instructor to collaborate to make things better. Then they talked about how a female admin rep at another school offered to have sex for admission enrollment leads in fear of losing her job for not meeting numbers.....
As a former 12 year of service Vocational educator I was groomed and accustomed to a certain professionalism and tact that has not been established at Cortiva Baltimore location. Your Loyalty is put into question if you have a thought of leaving the school to provide for your family, the tone or behavior you are enduring that is toxic of course means nothing. Display of strength is reprimanded when advocating for your self after being done wrong as a student and or staff member. If you want to survive there hold your head down in fear, intimidation and submissiveness and oppression. My heart goes out to the household these directors in leadership are head of.. Allegedly student numbers are fudged to continue to receive benefits by being a Title lv school,,, Allegedly this was information I heard within my first month of employment there.... this is hear say, but a lot folk say it... Students are treated like a number because that's what they are to leadership, numbers and money... Students, reaching out to cooperate is passé, reach out to the accreditation board with your grievances, because like leadership has so boldly expressed, "cooperate not gona do anything, I have been here years, I built this school, they will side with me"....reminds me of Denzel Washington in Training Day right before his demise.
All instructors are operating from passion because their love for their God given gifts...IT-IS A PAY CUT instructors are losing out on money running their own business to give back to up coming massage therapist and estheticians..... There are some great people there, the seasoned instructors there and instructors that have structure that makes the experience pleasant are phenomenal...... but if you operate with a moral compass you will struggle as a student and employee.....
There have been a great number of success at Cortiva but the energy in the building simply is off. Maintain your drive for self improvement and future success read more
