I sent a note last minute on Friday, inquiring about a tasting the same weekend, and was so excited to get their quick response! We enjoyed the "extra" tasting, lead by Sylvia -- 6 of their amazing wines (two bubblies, two whites, two reds) with a delicious mix of salami and cheese with bread and their olive oil. Oh! That olive oil. We would have bought gallons and gallons of it but alas, they were sold out for the season. We took home 4 bottles of wine instead. All of the wine plus our tasting fees set us back just €80. Deal of the century! That same haul in California would have easily cost $300 plus. I'm so excited that we live just half an hour away from Coffele and the charming town of Soave. I envision many visits in our future. If you're lucky enough to be in the area, be sure to plan a visit to Soave. Check out the castle (just €7 admission with sweeping views) and then head down the hill for a tasting at Coffele!

Coffele is a family owned wine producer that is a must visit in this region. Being only about 40 minutes from our house, this is a frequent stop for us as we bring just about all of our guests here. Be sure to make an appointment for a tasting. Pick the one with salami and cheese too, it makes everything better. To the wine, you start with their brut, wonderful sparing wine aged twice as long as Prosecco so smaller bubbles mean a smoother feel and taste. You will taste 2-3 whites as well, all very drinkable and wonderful first course wines, I don't love white in general but these are great! Our favorite of their wines a Bordeaux blend named Nuj. Fabulous wine, mid level priced, a wine you can age for 20+ years under 20€. Who are we kidding though, this wine comes home and gets opened. Shoutout out to Elizabeth our recent host, she was very knowledgeable and enjoyable. She told us Soave Classico white wine was the first white exported to America in 1961!

I was not allowed to sit indoors in 93 degree heat during the heatwave "because it was fully reserved," yet almost every table remained empty and unseated for the entirety of my multi hour dinner. It seemed any locals who requested to be seated inside could be seated there thereafter, and given that i do not speak italian i was treated poorly. I was placed at the worst table, immediately in front of the entrance where every customer walks in, in the heat. My glass of wine was the smallest I have ever been poured in my life. It was offensive. My cuttlefish and squid dish was of very poor quality. Came out cold, and when re-heated was still very chewy and of poor quality. The manager poured me an extra glass of wine as an apology when I shared my experience had been poor, which I appreciate, but this was a horrible experience and I would advise TO SKIP.

In any case, my friend and I were in Verona over Christmas and wanted a nice experience on Christmas day so we booked Dari since the pics online were nice and they were open (many places were closed). The atmosphere in Dari was fantastic, although it seemed that there were only other tourists, no locals we never felt that it was a tourist trap. The room we were seated oozed Christmas without being tacky or over the top. The service was super friendly and they did the utmost to make us feel welcome. The food was very good, I had the tortellini in brodo (clear broth) and the beef cheek and my friend went with the crepes with truffles plus the duck leg confit - we both enjoyed the dishes although it was too much for us to finish it all. I wanted to order a dessert but when I saw the enormous portion the table next to us got, I decided to just eat some of the cookies which came with the coffee. It's more of a shop where customers can pick up items to take home, including something for dinner as fresh lasagna is made daily. We ordered a bottle of Chianti Classico. Everything was presented beautifully and so delicious. We had five different types of meats: mortadella, prosciutto, veal, salumi, and roast beef. We also had a selection of five cheeses and I can't recall the names of all of them but they were all mouth watering. We had a selection of three types of olives. On our second night, we tried three different meats and cheeses, two types of olives, and their freshly made lasagna. Again, we were so happy with the food and the wine, a Valpolicello Ripasso Superior. Her service was excellent and the place was sparkling clean inside and out.
