This is your average tourist spot with a big patio and strange menu that is sort of Australian themed (like you can eat kangaroo). There were some veg options, but not a ton. The veggie burger was truly made from veg (I think kale and hemp?), so props for that. I had a caprese salad and a side of sweet potato fries, which were both exactly as you would expect. AUSTRALIAN RESTAURANT IN BERLIN THAT SERVES KANGAROO! YOU HEARD ME! KANGAF***INGROO! WHAT IN THE WORLD?! Is that even legal? My friend from Berlin brought me here when I was visiting. She asked me if I had ever tried ever Kangaroo, obviously I haven't. I have never even seen an Australian restaurant here in America. Corroboree is located at the Sony Center. So make sure to get some lunch here if you're in the area. It will definitely be a rare dining experience. They serve the kangaroo in a hotdog shape sprinkled with curry powder and a side of fries. Honestly it's not as strange as I thought it would be. Tastes kind of like a spicy hotdog. That's it. If I hadn't known beforehand that it was kangaroo I wouldn't have even guessed. Super cool to say that I've eaten kangaroo. We ate an early dinner there last night. It was the only restaurant in that neighborhood offering non-meat dishes, and we'd almost given up by the time we found it. Also; the staff were much friendlier than most restaurant workers we've ever encountered in Germany, including - in particular - our server, and also the other servers & the manager. Another great thing is that they had no problem with "allowing" us to drink tap water, which is usually a big problem in Germany (out of principle, we refuse to pay for water). Anyway; my husband ordered the blackened salmon (15.70 euros) and I ordered the pasta formaggi (8.50 euros). The food was delicious and the portions were adequate. read more

Let me first explain that I went to this restaurant for lunch. The menu was more appropriate for dinner. The dish I chose was a sweet potato curry which was listed as spicy, but was quite bland. Someone else at the table also ordered a curry dish and they complained of the same problem. I would imagine the grilled meats are this restaurants specialty, but we weren't interested at lunch time. I would like to give this restaurant only 1 star because of the terrible service. When we are making orders, I already said clearly cheese was not needed but when the dish came with cheese. Also, the waitress left suddenly with any notice simply because I just turned around to ask my friend if she needed any side dishes. After she left, we intended to ask another waiter for ordering. I said "excuse me"to him face to face, but he just ignored and passed by me, after which he went to serve another table. I mean.. How is that possible!? Good burger and fries. BUT, they dont serve meat in any fashion other than well-done, because "thats how Australian's do it." Really bad service! prices are quite high, so I would expect from the waiters a bit more... First time I sited alone about 20 minutes and no one came to take an order! Afterwards I gave a restaurant additional chance with my friends: First the didn't give us menus. After I approaches to the hostess twice she gave me a menu! After a first meal we waited for 40 minutes (!), it was awkward to ask... but we asked the waiter "what about our meals?" he said it on the way. After additional 20 mins we decided to pay for the first meal and leave the place. Finally someone arrived, apologized and offered to wait more 10 minutes and it might be ready, same time tried to sell us a lie about the button they forgot to push at the kitchen... who cares? WE ARE HUNGRY!! And finally, the toilets "equipped" with woman that gives you a "guilty" sight that you have to pay any time you enter there! A quite touristy place inside of the Sony Center. The kangaroo burger was ok, but nothing as special as I expected. The burger didn't include anything else other than some fries. No salad, cole slaw etc. Personally, 13 EUR for a burger with some fries are too much. The view from the second floor is nice though. read more

Corroboree seems to be an Australian-themed corporate chain restaurant. I had some decent currywurst made with kangaroo meat and a Wiesbier. While I would definitely recommend getting out to the neighborhoods and going to some local joints, if you're at the Sony center to hit up a movie, you could definitely do worse for grub than Corroboree. read more

Ate here as a last minute, time-pressed decision. The service is friendly enough, but not particularly responsive. I have the impression that each server simply has to cover too much ground. I regret to say that I stay just round the corner from this place whenever I am in Berlin, and I heartily recommend that you take your money elsewhere because that's all this place wants to do: take your money. The decor is modern, with a yuppy-ish lounge upstairs, but the seats are uncomfortable if you stay a little too long. The food is not pricey but expensive for what it is. The wines are generally awful, and I recognised a few New World bottles which were selling for 8-10 times the price in the local wine shop. (A normal restaurant's markup is 3-4 times retail normally). Service is haphazard. The first round of drinks can take 10 mins but the next round can be 30 mins. The food always arrives lukewarm at best and is sugary and spiced from tins and packets. The staff reflects the nature of this unapologetic tourist trap. They are all young and inexperienced and nobody stays for long. I tried to like the place as it is so convenient for me, but I gave up in the end. It's a pity as the location is great, just under the beautiful "umbrella" in the Sony Center, but I would avoid this restaurant like the plague. read more

If the Corroboree weren't at the lucrative location it is now I believe it would run down within days. I'm saying this because the food is good, as well as the location and staff, however it has the feeling of trying too hard to be mainstream / tourist-magnet, meaning it does not even try to be the cosy Australian restaurant I`d like it to be (even looks like the mainstream restaurants today), which gives me the impression most people visit it because of it's sensational location. That's just my opinion though. To the important part; the food is pretty decent, having tried the caesar salad to start off with, which was very fresh but nothing to spectacular. For my main dish, I had the very tasty tandoori chicken with potatoes on the side. To be honest for that price I`d expect a little more but it doesn't prevent me from going again. Finishing off with the classic cheesecake, which is hard to ruin. To drink; of course Fosters beer. Overall I`d recommend the Australian Corroboree for anybody looking for an Australian in Berlin, with adding not to expect too much ambience or Australian vibes. But if you're in town or from here and nearby rather go there than to the food court of the "Mall of Berlin" down the street. Big plus and the factor why I said it could be that the Corroboree would run down if not there is the Berlin SonyCenter, where the restaurant is located, which looks amazing by night. read more

Nothing special here. Everything is ordinary and gets the job done in terms of making hunger go away. Servers were nice, and they got us in and out quickly, as we had to catch a concert at the nearby Philharmonic. The Australia theme is notable, as is the kangaroo and crocodile on the menu. I had the misfortune of being there this weekend for a quick lunch before a movie screening and have to admit that this was the most horrific and frustrating experience I have ever had in my life in a restaurant. Both of the waiters we had to deal with were plain disrespectful and absolutely did not care that they were. I am usually not he type to get aggravated by this kind of behavior but this was so extreme that it did shift my mood for the rest of the afternoon.
