The collection of aircraft many of which you can sit in makes this museum an instant hit with adults and children alike. The building itself is actually the Old Bakery and looks like a very quaint old-fashioned village grocery store-cum-tea shop, but step inside and you will not only find a stunning Elizabethan style coffee shop, but also THE TARDIS! Step inside the old Police Box and you will immediately find yourself transported back in time to a fantastic wonderland consisting literally thousands of rare & collectable antique toys, bears and dolls just to name a few. There are also dozens of famous film memorabilia including life size droids & characters of The Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, Stingray, Star Wars & of course, Dr Who & the Daleks to delight the enthusiast! There is also a permanent puppet display - the ONLY one in the country, a Railway, and Dads Army memrobilia including a genuine, Millitaria Display. Also, not to forget to mention - Disney! All in all, there is something for everyone, hours of fun for both young & olda magical collection of both fantasy & nostalgia that will take your breath away - I was totally amazed!

It's a little hidden gem and brought back memories of all the Dr Who I hid behind the sofa during. It's worth just turning up for a chat with Andy the owner of this private & vast collection. No spoilers here but if you were born in the 60's its a great way to spend a couple of hours reliving childhood memories, one or two exhibits are unique gems for avid fans too. Would agree maybe not for kids and OK its £8 adult but something has to pay the bills! No cafe that I seen but Brew just up the road is lovely, Combine with a stroll around Bromyard & its a great and reasonable day out

Very interactive and interesting exhibits…read more FREE admission will get you into 90% of the actual museum. Variety of exhibits so it has a little something for everybody. The first floor was the Dive In! Aquarium. It had a very nice anemone tank and a variety of other tanks that had sea life. The second floor is the Bug space, and the beginning of the Natural History space. Both are very interactive and have plenty of kid friendly space. The Return of the Gods exhibit (which costs 8 GBP to visit) was on the third floor, but you could also see what I thought was the most interesting part of the museum which was the World Culture exhibit. The exhibits themselves are nice, but this museum has a novel approach to explaining how Liverpool got its items. Comedian Daliso Chaponda was narrating the process of how the museum procured the majority of its items through good ole colonization (kidding, not kidding). He brings to light the appropriation process through comedic discussion, novel and palatable. The 3rd floor also has the Egyptian Exhibit, which is very good. It's probably the jewel of the museum. The history of the pieces are well explained, and the mummies are displayed wonderfully, some in layers, some in narrative, and plenty of interactivity for the little ones. I didn't spend much time on the fourth floor (Dinosaurs) or fifth floor (Planetarium/Space). The fifth floor wasn't as impressive, but gave those genre's some space for those that are interested. It was the meh portions of the museum. If you have a few hours to burn, consider this museum a good choice for kids of all ages and interests.

The building contains a large cafe on the ground floor that was well stocked with good quality food and deserts, this area also has access to free Wi-Fi. The next floor has the Aquarium and treasure house theater. The 2nd (3rd in US) floor has the special exhibition and the Bug House. Next floor contains World Cultures, Ancient Egypt and Western Discovery Center (only open weekends & school holidays. 4th floor holds Dinosaurs, Endangered Planet and Clore Natural History Center. Finally the 5th floor holds exhibits on Space and Time along with a Planetarium - tickets needed from the information desk on the ground floor. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and could not be more accommodating, well worth the visit. I should also add the this museum is free except for the special exhibit which needs tickets purchased either online or at the entrance with limited time slots available each day.

Dolaucothi is a small site in terms of mining but exceptionally pretty, overlooking the Cothi Valley. Workings in the mines date from Roman times but mining has taken place here as recently as the 1930s. Guided tours will take you through the workings of the mines and show the conditions that were endured. If you have an energectic group you may well find that your guide is prepared to take you on an extended tour which will take in parts of the mines above ground too. For children there is a gold panning set up. The site is suitable for children who are old enough to walk themselves through the tunnels and stairs - it's not suitable for very young children. All must wear hard hats (provided). Although this is true mining and the tunnels quite small in places it is not a very deep mine and shouldn't prove too problematic. A campsite is available on the site with 35 pitches. The shop sells Welsh gold (more expensive than foreign gold).

Maes Artro is a heritage museum in Llanbedr, Gwynedd which focuses on the Second World War, the RAF…read moreand the home front. Their leaflet supplies plenty of information about the attraction and why you would want to visit. The attractions advertised include a rural heritage museum, an officer's mess, RAF museum, 1940s shop fronts, a street of yesteryear, and more. It costs £5 to get in for adults with reductions for senior citizens and children. There is a parking field, which when we arrived, mid morning in August, had two other cars. There were various staff milling around dressed in 1940 clothing, but very few people spoke to us. As 3 adults we handed over a £20 and the man at the entrance had to go and find some change. The whole placed has an air of being run down, with one or two areas being closed for redevelopment, despite being advertised on the brochure, and it being the height of the summer season. Within the museums themselves there are lots of interesting artefacts, but very little explanation, so it was hard to decide what anything was. We didn't decided not to have a drink or eat in the officers mess or the other cafe on the site, having spent maybe an hour wandering around wondering what was going on. Had we visited in November we wouldn't have been surprised at the lack of people or the closures but this was August. All in all this was a disappointing day out.
