We were originally working with Hels for a 200 person wedding that was to happen 9/26/2020. Well as we all know, that changed due to COVID and while it could have been awful in deciding what we wanted to do, Hels and all of our vendors made us feel so confident in our new plan: 50 people in our backyard. After planning and re-planning and having 3 back up plans just in case, not a beat was missed by Linda and her team. Not only did I have full confidence in them working with our coordinator I had full confidence in stepping back as a bride and just letting them do what they are great at - catering. Our guests are still talking about the food - and that is NOT typical for a wedding. Truly, some of the best food many of us have ever had. From appetizers, to service to plated meals of chicken & steak - Hels is the choice you should make for your next event (big, small or anywhere in between). It's not easy having strangers in your home, but at the end of the day Hels was like family & we are excited to hire them over and over again for any events we plan!

Hel's Kitchen catered our dinner for 29 people on Xmas eve. I would absolutely recommend them, I'm thrilled they are here in Northbrook. As for the food, taste is so subjective and it is hard to please all the people with every dish. Everyone thought the Thai chicken skewers with peanut sauce were delicious. The Mediterranean chicken was also very good (loved the artichokes). The sweet potato mini pancakes were also a hit. The Tangine vegetables were too bland. I like more flavor, spices. To their credit, they use very little salt. The bourbon chicken skewers went untouched. The Jerusalem salad desperately needed dressing, it was also untouched (but of good quality). Having them cater saved us days of time preparing and cooking, it was well worth the money. They are super organized and, as I mentioned above, great people to do business with. We'll certainly try them again now that we know what we like.

After our first tasting, we knew which entrées we wanted but were still unsure about the sides, hors d'oeuvres, and dessert selections. They happily welcomed us back for a second tasting so we could finalize our menu, which we really appreciated. Rachel was incredibly helpful throughout the entire planning process and during the final walkthrough at our venue. The staff on our wedding day was amazing and made sure both we and our guests had everything we needed. Plus, the food was absolutely delicious! We received so many compliments from our guests. I would highly recommend Rachel and the Catered by Design team to anyone looking for exceptional food and outstanding service for their event.

Towne & Oak has an assured sense of design that makes Hubbard Woods feel momentarily closer to…read moreLondon than the North Shore. High white ceilings, pale wood, and the indoor tree give the café an unusually polished presence, while excellent coffee keeps it grounded in daily life. Every visit I've made has found it buzzing, with the easy social energy of a true neighborhood gathering place. In some ways, it feels like the next-generation version of what Foodstuffs in Glencoe represented years ago: cosmopolitan taste translated convincingly to the North Shore. Its character becomes even more apparent in the way the space shifts naturally from café to event venue to community gathering place. Spin classes are a particularly clever touch, and the Home Alone decorations during the holidays are a wonderfully self-aware nod to Winnetka's place in popular culture. Something is appealing about a place this refined having enough confidence to be playful, especially when the humor is so specific to the town around it. If I lived nearby, this would be an easy regular meeting spot: elegant, useful, and unmistakably of its place.

Disappointing experience despite a fresh and new business relationship. We have used this catering…read morecompany for multiple corporate events and have spent considerable money with them. Historically, the food and service have been very good, which makes our experience with our most recent BBQ event particularly disappointing. The weather was questionable the morning of the event, so we understood the decision to precook the burgers and brats. However, the weather ultimately cooperated, and the event proceeded as planned. We specifically requested that we use at least one large gas grill we provided, even if only to keep the grill/char lines going, but that did not happen. The catering team arrived on time, but the setup was not completed as expected. Two chefs who had originally been scheduled to be onsite to cook the food ultimately spent much of the event standing around with very little involvement. More importantly, the food was served lukewarm to cold even though it arrived in hotboxes, and some food was undercooked/raw. The sternos were not lit until well after the food had been set up and less than 10 minutes before mealtime, which did little to address the temperature problem. For the price we paid, the quality of service and temperature of the food were simply not acceptable. I immediately raised my concerns with the event planner after the event. When I didn't receive a follow-up, I emailed to express our disappointment. To the event planner's credit, she responded and said the owner wanted to address the matter personally and would contact me after returning from out of town. That was over a month ago, and we have still received no communication. A coworker who also helps coordinate our company events separately contacted her point of contact at the company, but also received no response. What is most disappointing is not simply that one event did not meet expectations. We have been a significant repeat customer, and we expected our concerns to be acknowledged and addressed professionally. Instead, we received no follow-up at all. We have had good experiences with this caterer in the past, which is why this situation has been frustrating. Unfortunately, the combination of cold food, a lack of attention during the event, and zero follow-up afterward has made us decide to seek catering elsewhere for our corporate events.

We'd been to Cluckers several times, and we know the quality of our lunches and dinners. That said, we assumed our catering would be as good. Well, I'd say I was wrong... it was better! The folks at Cluckers Catering helped us understand exactly how much to order, and wow... the service and quality were beyond compare. So much so, that we actually are repeat customers, and have had all of our friends ask who we used. The food arrived, hot where it should and chilled where it should. We did Chips n Guac, 2350 Salad, THE Chicken, Garlic Smashed, and of course, cluckers sauce. Debs Brownies were an immediate hit, and we probably should have had more... All in all, I would highly recommend Cluckers Catering... if you've ever been there you know. If you haven't, you should.
