OK, so it feels kind of wierd writing a review about a church, but it's on yelp and there's the option to write a review, so here goes...
We were looking for a local (Rockwall) church after we moved here from elsewhere in the Dallas area. We tried several and loved Cornerstone.
Doug Fox, the senior pastor, is an awesome communicator. Direct, honest and funny - but don't miss the meat of what he has to say just cuz it's packaged pretty. Doug can rock the Truth. He's also a caring and helpful pastor and a humble and friendly guy.
We enjoy the music a lot - definitely rock-oriented and upbeat, so if you're looking for a lot of old hymns sung in traditional style this is probably not the worship style for you.
We also appreciated their website, which has a LOT of info on the church's beliefs and doctrinal practices. When you're looking at a non-denom church, that can mean a lot of things - so we appreciated all the solid info on beliefs; we felt like we had a good handle on what to expect before we ever walked through the door.
Overall, the crowd here is young, though we feel at home despite being among the older age set in the fellowship. Churchgoers here (they don't have membership) are friendly and we were welcomed pretty warmly from day 1. The church is small by Texas standards - probably about 300 adults or less in each of two worship services. They have a full range of kids' classes.
We have been impressed by the serving attitude of the church. For example: on Good Friday, instead of having services at the building, we went out in teams to deliver food boxes to needy families in Garland and Royce City and to sing at a nursing home.
Now if you're looking for a big steeple and stained glass, keep looking. The church meets in a converted office space and is committed to not building a big building.
