I was working at Sears Mesquite when I met a lady who was not feeling lifted up that day. The Holy…read moreSpirit lead me to pray with this lady, who is Sister Darla. Sister Darla began to tell me about her adventure selling Mary Kay. Sister Darla invited me to her Church in Rowlett, Church in the City. Sister Darla was persistent on inviting me to het Mary Kay training more and to meet her Director of Mary Kay, Denise, who is also a member of Church in the City. On last Saturday I was invited to the Mary Kay meeting again by Darla to meet at Denise how in Rockwall. Darla had no idea the Holy Spirit unctioned me to come. I reached out to Darla and told her. I would attend her Mary Kay training and she could use my face. I met Denise a powerful, humble and kind woman of God as well as the Director of Mary Kay in the Rockwall area. My attending the Mary Kay meeting was every worth it. To meet Denise and share the Bible and testimonies of the Lord. Denise invited me to Church in the City as well. Sr. Pastor Mike and Pastor Vicky are holy and loving leaders. I felt at home and the word of God went forth. I was embraced and the Lord through Pastor Vicky called out a problem I was having with my shoulders when I raise my hand and battling in my mind. The church and service is anointed and I also went back Friday to the Women Christmas Party and invited my sister. We were embraced by the women, welcomed and had clean Christian fun. Pastor Vicky joined us and there were no little eyes and big Yous. These Pastors are humble and loving leaders. I am definitely going back this morning . I also want to say the Mary Kay product works, I got a good facial cleansing along with good Sisterhood Circle with some Christian Women. You won't regret visiting Church in the City Rowlett. Where the word go forth, and the Holy Spirit is there and Pastor Mike and Pastor Vicky are anointed and speak the truth and are involved with the saints. The anointing and spiritual gifts are going forth through the Holy Spirit. I am very careful about church leaders and how churches are operated. This is not a religious church. Church in the City is operated by the Holy Spirit under the anointing of Pastor Mike and Pastor Vicky Hankin the Pastor wife. Pastor Mike is a moderate day example of the Shepherd the Lord called. Pastor Mike go before the Lord to lead the Lord's church. Which is the people of the Lord God. All leaders, must give account to Christ Jesus who leads his sheep. It's not about man. But it's about Jesus who died for the sins of the world. Jesus was the sacrificial Lamb of God. We must praise and worship our heavenly Father in Christ Jesus for what He has done for us. We can never repay Him. But we can praise and worship Him and reverence Him. Jesus is Lord and is coming back for His church without a spot or wrinkle or blemish. Repent, Repent, the Kingdom of the Lord is at hand. Pastor Mike preaching series is on the Kingdom building and the Kingdom of God. I am being blessed and fed by this teaching. Keep Church of the City in holy prayers to our Lord God. Sister Sharon

The praise and worship is wonderful there. I felt the Holy Spirit during this time only. However,…read moreas soon as the pastor starting preaching Prosperity Gospel, I knew something was wrong and I left. He spoke about meeting with Jessie Duplantis (a prosperity Gospel preacher) and then I knew he was the same. Sewing seeds refers to the Gospel being told to a person and that the truth of the Gospel growing in one's life, not about tithe or offering. Tithe and offering is in obedience and is a personal decision between God and that person. It is wrong and heretical to associate sewing seeds with money. Yes, it takes money to run a ministry and tithing and offering help support the finances of that ministry, however, a seed of faith in the Word is referring to growth of a personal walk with Christ, NOT how much money you give to the church! Also, pastors are to live humble lives and not extravagant lifestyles in serving the Lord. Their focus should be on the spread of the Gospel, NOT lining their own pockets (like Jessie Duplantis). This church because of this I believe is under the judgement of God. Unless they stop preaching the "prosperity Gospel" where you give to receive, I believe this ministry will stop. Please pray for this church that it will really line up with the Word of God.

He even makes his sermons and sermon series fun, and he will have us laughing just as much as crying from how touching they are. We gave the Connect Groups (Sunday Schools) a try, and we were welcomed with open arms. We have never really attended Sunday School before, and we not only liked it, we soon grew to love it and our group. We are talking normal, hardworking everyday people with all the hardships that life can throw at us, and it is great to be able to share all that with a group that doesn't judge and focuses on encouragement and gives me strength. There is active program for someone at any stage of life, and our family has truly grown as Christians and closer together. My husband got baptized and was even allowed to baptized our oldest daughter... we have kids, and we can say something wonderful about the programs for each age. Our baby loves the preschool programs and Mothers Day Out school. We even had a snowball fight in the middle of summer?? Fellowship that is so fun! The youth program always has something going on-- Mission trips, fun activities, and lots of opportunities to help out our church family. Honestly we had steered clear of churches generally that have "contemporary" services because I can be picky about the music as I really like church hymns (I know, it's weird), but the music is awesome and a great mix between hymns and contemporary Christian praise songs. We just can't write enough positive things about this church and all it's aspects which I can't even cover here.. I have grown so much as a Christian personally during our year of attending this church. Yes!

I had become weary of the mega-church rock-concert style of worship, and felt drawn towards the beauty of the Anglican Liturgy and a true reverence for Holy Communion. We had also just moved to Rowlett, and didn't know people in the area. So we decided to "Yelp" it, and would you believe it, we found Catalyst. I will say the first time there I felt something completely different then I had ever felt. This place was meant for me. We then returned the next week, to my surprise, the members remembered our names. My 7-year-old was so surprised by that, we just knew that we had found something special. I promise, if you are lost, been away from the church, or even had really bad feelings about church, this IS the place for you. Come try and see what you think. I have now found a home.

Personally, I don't think that the pastor or anyone in the church is trying to be "too cool" or "rockin'" - the reason I go is because I think it's the first church experience that's actually been genuine. I don't attend because I'm trying to be all hipster with God; I go because I'm okay listening and talking and not being judged. I attend Catalyst, and have for over a year... and I'm not yet comfortable calling myself a Christian... AND THAT'S OKAY AT CATALYST. How many churches can you go to where they aren't going to judge you or try and change you? I have never stuck with any church in the few instances where I've tried it because of all the pressure to be someone I'm not. I walk in the door, and it's okay to be me. It's okay to learn at my own pace, and I'm still welcomed and loved. Isn't that really what it's all about?
