This is a VERY busy ice center. With three rinks, it's super packed on the weekends. The locker room hallway is small and so are the locker rooms themselves. The concession stand seemed to have some good options for relatively affordable prices. My team was in rink 1. It's definitely a darker rink and not super friendly for hockey photography. It was also extra chilly in this rink compared to the others. Definitely wear extra layers and bring a blanket if you're assigned to this rink! read more

We have come here for hockey a lot over the years and the reason for the review and only 3 stars is accessibility. If you have older people who have limited mobility or use a wheelchair who want to watch your kids play here they have to take a looooooong ramp, or go up an elevator that sits right behind some metal double doors which have no windows, and will fling into anyone waiting for the elevator or exiting it. The seating areas also offer no ramps and no viewing angle for someone in a wheelchair. Stairs everywhere, or the walls/rails get in the way. For such a nice facility it's sad how little this was considered. read more

We came here for the Cheese Cup speedskating tournament on a Sunday morning. This is a huge ice facility, with 2 hockey rinks and a larger rink where the speedskating race was to be held. Coming inside, you see a decent sized lobby area. There's a large concession counter near the front too and the usual row of vending machines you find at these kinds of places. Of all the ice venues we went to this year, this was definitely the coldest of them all. The seating area was frigid too, even higher up in the stands. The ice itself was in excellent shape throughout the race, with frequent resurfacing. However, this place has its share of problems. First, the zamboni goes in and out of an area that skaters have to pass through to get to the heat box area prior to a race. This means they have to be careful going back and forth. Most other venues have a separate hideaway for the zamboni that does not cross paths with the skaters. The concessions were a huge disappointment. The overpriced sandwiches they make and sell are mostly bread with a little meat. And speaking of bread, they ran out of it by 1 PM and had to close up shop. They say they have soup on the menu but they had none on this day, which pretty much forced them to shutter the place though there were still 4 more hours of racing to go, plus hockey games at the other rinks. From a comfort standpoint, they need more seating and tables for the skaters to hang out and warm up between races. The seating in the bleachers overlooking the rink is not the place to go if you are cold. This is a nice building but it needs some refinement in accommodations inside. Without making wholesale changes to their facility I think they can learn from ice arenas like the one in Northbrook, IL that we visited the week before on how to make it a better ice arena. read more

The Cornerstone is home for the St. Norbert's Hockey team along with other kids and amateur leagues. They have three ice rinks, and two of them are iced for the whole year. The third rink that's not iced during the summer will have other events going on. I have been there for roller derby events. A few years ago they had the US Curling championship tournament, which was pretty interesting as it was a week long event and exposed the community to an unfamiliar but pretty fun sport. They'll have open ice skate during parts of the year. Times are not very convenient, but it's fun if you can make it as it's usually not crowded and you can rent skates there. If you're in need of any skating or hockey equipment, they have a small shop by the smaller ice rink. By the shop there's a little commons area with what I think now is an Erberts & Gerberts (use to be a Subway). On the upper level there's a big concession stand that's open for the St. Norbert games. read more

This facility has 3 rinks in one location which could be great for skaters and hockey players alike, but it is terribly managed just look at the website for starters it still says school is around the corner and hockey registration is starting soon. That's great and all but it's December 17th. They will go months without updating schedules for open skate or open hockey. There is instances of adult league teams showing up to play and told their games were cancelled after they were already dressed in the locker room no notice at all. They turn over sheets of ice to youth hockey teams that have not been resurfaced. If you want to contact them even during business hours 9 times out of 10 they will not pick up the phone. If you decide to drop by chances are they won't be in either, but they do have a funny sign that makes jokes about how they are never there,don't pick up the phone and don't return phone calls. If you do get the chance to talk to some of the employees such as jay boxer or don chilson you will see all the things stated above are no mistake or accident they really just don't like dealing with people or making this rink available as much as it should be. They act as if these responsibilities are an inconvenience not their job or way of earning income. All in all I'm not angry with my experience just disappointed that a great 3 rink facility like this isn't used for what it was intended and what it's worth. read more
