I always feel I am in good hands with Dr. Tollenaar. I came in this morning with moderate whiplash and just a few hours later it's all gone. My neck feels good as new! Of course, it isn't always such a spectacular recovery, but I always come away feeling much better than I did when I went in. I hadn't seen him for several years because he did such a great job of fixing me up that I didn't need to be adjusted any more :) But I took a bad fall and knocked myself out of alignment again. His very helpful staff got me in just a few days later. I have also seen at least one other doctor at this facility (can't remember which one, sorry) and he was great as well. Dr Tolenaar is not only the president but he's also a client! Who better to see when you have an injury than someone who is far more active than you could ever be!? Dr. Tolenaar is an Ultra Marathoner, Mega Iron Man and a genuinely good person! It is one thing to participate in those activities but can you imagine finishing #1!? Subtly adorning the walls are medals from many of those races and they aren't up there to brag. In fact if you don't bring it up the humble Doc won't talk about them. As explained to me before my first visit "Dr. Tolenaar's sole purpose is not to see you again! He wants to fix you up so you can get back at it!" That was enough to sell me. However, to then meet him and experience that synopsis on my own is almost immeasurable. The staff here is also wonderful and Dr. Cokeley is also top notch! Having been a patient for about 25 years of Dr. Drake Tollenaar, I have nothing but gold star praises about the excellent treatments and consideration he gives. He is a "hands on" chiropractor, meaning he doesn't rely on the fancy roller tables, etc. that so many other practitioners use, so you are paying for his skill and expertise, not paying for the fancy equipment. He has a gentle nature, and with his strength and determination, you know you'll leave his office feeling good in your soul and body. I've recommended several people to him and they have all told me how impressed they are with him. His staff have been with him long term, which says a lot about how amiable the work environment is. I live in SE Portland, but it is well worth the drive to Tigard for treatment. If you need a simple adjustment or something that requires more than one treatment, he is the one to see. I've had chiropractic care for different injuries over the course of the years, but Dr. Tollenaar stands alone. I made an appointment as I just felt tight throughout my back and neck & no amount of massaging was helping. I walked in the door and was greeted immediately - what stuck out out to me first was that the office managers actually introduced themselves! I'm so used to flustered folks who want to get you in and out as quickly as possible... this was a complete breath of fresh air. Just a heads up: my whole appointment lasted about an hour - from the initial exam (no x-rays, thank goodness), to the massage after the fact, all of which were amazing. I have never walked out of a chiro appointment feeling immediately looser and with a better range of motion. I haven't turned my head fully from side to side in months, which means if you're driving in the area, thank the good doctor Drake for my better visibility. Chiropractic is necessarily part of a holistic life approach, so it makes sense that their practice would also offer massage and personal training as well as nutrition advice - all of which I really value. Just don't be surprised if you get more than a crack in the back and shown the door - this place is about quality of care, and it's exactly what they provide. read more

Watch your statements. I did not receive statements for months, only to find out I had a significant credit balance with them after my insurance paid more than I thought they would. I did get my credit balance back but had to call twice for it. read more

The first visit was ok, although I was pressed to purchase THEIR line of vitamins ... of course. For the second visit, I got a 13 minute, low quality visit. The doctor was 17 minutes late and I was rushed through like a 5-minute car wash. I deserve better treatment and my insurance company got soaked. read more

I've been here about 4 times so far. I love this place. I have anxiety and they have been great. I typically don't feel comfortable visiting a chiropractor and Dr.Tollenaar was amazing and understanding! Didn't feel rushed or pressured to do anything I wasn't comfortable with.
