Corner Store Vintage is really cute, with a huge, well-curated selection. It definitely appeals to a specific sect of style, with mostly denim & old tees. I'd say that the prices are around what you'd expect for a curated vintage store, around $50+ for a pair of jeans, but with some items being cheaper ($10 for a hanky/scarf, for example). I had a really nice time perusing around, but didn't end up buying anything this time. I think when I'm searching for denim, this will be an early stop for me! read more

I walk by this store all of the time. Decided to hop in and possibly buy something. I will not be going back there, however. Store owner was nice and we made small talk. However, I carry a small shoulder bag with me. He asked me to check my bag in behind the counter. There is apparently a sign on the door (that I overlooked) that says check bags in. No big deal and I checked it behind the counter . As I looked around I noticed a Caucasian woman and, what appeared to be, her two daughters. All three of them were carrying their bags, which were way bigger than mine. In that moment I decided to keep my money and leave the store. At least be consistent when enforcing a store rule. I would say it's on the higher end of prices for secondhand, but the quality is there, so don't come here if you are expecting to pay for things at a goodwill or even Turnstyle store. I hadn't been in here for years, but being chronically early for things, we had some time to kill before the Bryant Lake Bowl Yelp Elite event lastnight. So in we went. I was dubious, but there was some really quality stuff! Lots of vintage tennis shoes and of course, hats that are too small for my enormous head. and jeans. no, I didn't try to put those on my head too, but I did go so far as to suggest to J that the skirt she tried on might fit better if she wore it upside down. Corner Store doesn't do it for me. I may have overlooked the jewelry case and the record room yesterday, but for clothes... meh. Mens rockabilly, Levis jeans, belt buckles and cowboy boots aren't my style. If that is your style, you've found your secondhand home here. I probably would have given two stars, but last Halloween I went to every vintage store in town frantically looking for a plain red scarf (to complete my Mary Poppins costume) and they were the only place that had one. Props for that, Corner Store. I went in yesterday looking for a Mad Men-inspired cocktail dress---nada. They had some pretty (and pricey) dresses from the '20s and '30s and one cute sun dress in the window display, but the rest of the store didn't have much of note. This store caters primarily to one specific genre of style - cowboy/rockabilly. Tons of Levi's, cowboy boots and flashy belt buckles to be found here, and from what I can tell, all in pretty decent shape. I scored a sweet vintage Levi's jacket here for my brother for Christmas. It was the exact style my Dad used to wear and my brother wore to pieces, so I was thrilled when I found him an exact replacement and in near pristine condition. I've only ever purchased accessories here for myself; they have some neat jewelry, purses and shades. The prices are pretty reasonable and its a convenient place to waste a few minutes if you happen to be wandering around Uptown. While the clothing selection doesn't suit my tastes particularly, this can be a good place for some neat gifts. read more

The Corner Store is one of the last, cool vintage stores left in Uptown. There are few places that are unique in this area like this little gem. The quality and authenticity of their products is unbelievable. The staff is knowledgable about their collection, including the history and genres of the clothing and accessories. If something doesn't work, they recommend a similar style within the same genre (a leather jacket for my boyfriend, in my case). The dude even had a couple cool stories about Bruce Springsteen visiting the store when I thought of buying a band shirt. He was a super nice guy who shook my hand and introduced himself. He remembered me being there a couple times in the past. The icing on the cake was Bailey, the scruffy dog, who came out briefly for a little pat on the head. Apparently she is shy dog, but she's cute as a button. Anyway, I bought a couple mohair scarves, Irish tweed scarf, a 1950's houndstooth coat, and a vintage Rolling Stones tee shirt for my man. I would recommend this place to people who want to see quality products that date back to Victorian era (like the women's boots displayed on the shelves) to cool 80's shirts displayed behind the counter. Cool stuff! It might be a bit more expensive, but if you take the time to shop here at least you won't bring home some cheap bedbug infested article of clothing like Liz F. does from gross places like Savers and Unique thrift store. Also, if you're lucky enough to find anything good at those trashy places it will be totally overpriced because all the "cool" kids shop there and prices have risen substantially. This is a decent place to get vintage clothing, but it's kind of overpriced and the owner seems like kind of a crab. They are pretty selective about what they take in, so you don't need to do a lot of digging. I for one, like Tatters a lot more. But if you've got the money and not a lot of time it's a great place to find old Levis, cowboy boots etc. read more

Stopped here after visiting Eye of Horus. Great selection of vintage clothing, mostly Levis, work and military wear. They also have some nice vintage cowboy boots too. There were some neat pieces of jewelry behind the counter. The collection is not thrift shoppy so be prepared to spend a lot of money if you like something. I saw an old pair of levis from the 90s for $77. For that price, I can get multiple pairs on eBay or at a thrift shop. Sure, it may take more digging, but I am always up for that challenge. This is a fun store to browse if you're in the Lyn-Lake area because they have so many vintage goods--accessories, magazines, housewares, vinyl records, etc.--but I must say, I'm with Annie D. on the clothes: Meh. Last time I stopped in I almost bought a sequin clutch but it wasn't in good enough shape to drop $15 on. Bummer. This is one of my favorite places to by vintage garments (40's-early 60's). I never have to worry that there is stains or holes hiding in folds of dresses or skirts. Linda the owner has a keen eye for what is in worthy condition when she bring them in. I personally know that she cleans and irons every piece she has in that store. I have bought several pieces and wore them out that same night. The corner store also has a wonderful selection of 60's magazines. They are my guilty pleasure. After a hard days work I stop in there on my way home and buy a "Revealing Romances" or some other variety and go home and read it cover to cover. I highly recommend them. I'm not in to Levi's or cowboy boots but I still think they have a great selection of vintage wears for everyone. read more

This is not a thrift store and it's not curated according to the trends purveyed by urban outfitters etc. You are only going to appreciate this store of you are a true lover of historic clothing and vintage American workwear. If that's your cup of tea, then this place is truly heaven. Have no idea what people are complaining about re: the sales staff. Maybe this store has a lot of theft, but this is no way to treat a potential customer. I feel icky that I even handed my bags over. I love Corner Store Vintage. It's THE spot in Minneapolis for vintage Levi's, inexpensive, unique jewelry and sunglasses, a vintage denim or leather jacket, or cowboy boots/hats! The prices are super reasonable for well-curated, good vintage. There's always a good soundtrack, usually old country, playing in the background too. I'm surprised by the number of negative reviews complaining about the man who sits behind the counter. My experience is actually the opposite - he always says hi and asks if I need assistance, he's friendly and funny. That said, do you really expect to be greeted and talked to when shopping? This place is pricey because the owner specializes in a certain type of vintage and they have a killer selection within the world of rockabilly, western; the type of stuff that would be termed "VLV" on ebay. If you are a guy and you wanna go Swing dancing and you need to get kitted out this is the place to go. If you want to find Vintage Levis in your size and don't want wade through endless racks of 550s at Savers and Goodwill then this is the place to go. If you a gal looking for that occasion cocktail dress that just has to be killer, then this is one of 5 or 6 places to go. I love this vintage store because I'm all about the basics. I searched high and low online to find a knee-length (or slightly above) skirt. all i could find online were tight mini skirts that you can't move in, not to mention ride on the back of a motorcycle or hope on a bike with. immediately i found my jean skirt at The Corner Store....vintage Girbaud. not too full, not tight - just right. i also found some awesome casual but cute 50s/60s dresses that i wear to work in in spring summer and fall, and an all-wool plaid bathrobe. looking for that perfect pair of overalls? you might score lucky at savers like I did, but if not The Corner Store has a whole rack of em'. At least they did in December. I love it how everything is grouped into wearable types of clothing.....plaid wool mens shirts, overalls, wearable dresses (not too fancy), jean skirts, hand-knit sweaters, etc. its frustrating - searching for wearable vintage and all you can find are velvet or polyester cocktail dresses and pumps that are too small. not this place!!!! read more

I am still a loyal patron of the Corner Store and continue to find really great vintage jewelry and old vinyl among lots of other things. I wanted to add to my previous review that they also have housewares, awesome vintage aprons, and I got a gorgeous skirt suit that I wore to my last job interview (and got it!) I've also acquired a really great gold winter coat with a big warm fur collar that's to die for. Don't miss the section in the back where they have a collection of old 60s magazines/gossip rags that you could read for days - the stories and advertisements in them are priceless. My only complaint is that she once told me that she won't sell her vintage lamps that are scattered around the store. It's the only time I've left disappointed in three years of shopping there. read more

I am certainly NOT into any kind of "rockabilly" or "country and western". I am just one of the many regular people that loves fashion. Like many others I find the low rise skinny jeans I used to love a few years ago boring, and dated, and am now looking for some higher rise, straight leg/flare options. I have bought a few pairs of Levi 501's in this store, and am now starting to buy Lee rider corduroys. I never fail to get tons of compliments on them. Sure, I might be able to find a pair of the jeans in Goodwill( no chance at all on the cords) but its not too likely. They are in pretty high demand as great minds seem to think alike ;) ...thank goodness for this place. The basics here are a bit more pricey then some places, but not much, and you can't beat the selection or quality. What could I say about Corner Store vintage that doesn't make me squeal with excitement and want to flash open my closet to show you the awesome collection of truly fantastic, one of a kind pieces I've purchased here over the years. To save you, I will just list the key things about this shop that make it amazing, and well worth every penny. -Very well organized stock, you'll appreciate this well-maintained shop and it's knowledgeable staff. Find exactly or close to what you're looking for in seconds. -All the clothing is meticulously selected and cared for and you can see it, you won't find holes, rips, missing buttons or stuck zippers when you get home. -Truly one of a kind vintage. 'nuff said. -Great selection of jewelry, gloves, thigh highs, ties, cufflinks, belts, younameits. -Fashion intuitive staff (nothing makes me giggle more than being en vogue in May in New York wearing something I bought here in January). -The stockings still smell of rose water perfume and the leather belts are perfectly worn in and supple. In short, it comes down to quality. It's nice to come across a shop that takes as much pride in its inventory as its appearance! RUN AWAY! Horrible customer service, over-priced items, nasty owner (see review below saying that she is a crab). They will buy vintage clothing and so one day we traded a pair of vintage cowboy boots to the owner for a $25 store credit. After stopping in several times and not finding anything to use the credit on my wife tried to use it on a bracelet. The owner said the credit was over a year old, took the credit slip from my wife and threw it in the trash saying "I don't have time to deal with this". My wife walked out of the store stunned. Failing to honor store credit is against federal and state law, and as far as I'm concerned the owner stole the boots and then profited from it. If you are looking for cool, vintage clothing go to Tatter's right down the street on Lyndale. Much better selection and way better price. Plus, you'll avoid the lovely allergy attack you will get from how dirty and dusty the clothes are. After shopping the Corner Store periodically for years we will never go back. read more
