The staff were so kind and gracious and the woman behind the counter let the two of us talk her ear off for close to an hour while we shopped around the store. Their displays are beautiful and I adore their selection of tarot cards and other books. She is knowledgable about so many aspects of the spiritual and healing arts. Her enthusiasm and sincerity is magnetic. The selection of marvelous stones, fossils and crystals in her shop is wonderful. Her willingness to share and help the client grow is even more appealing. I have learned so much from her in our two brief meetings. I look forward to a continued relationship and the opportunity to learn more.

There are pendulums; books introducing one to paganism, or Wicca specifically as well; puzzles; tarot cards; pins; diaries; greeting cards; and so on. Nearly half of the shop features supplies for fiber crafts, so of course you'll find yarn here but also yarn bowls, cross stitch and embroidery kits, and so on. I bought several beautiful rolls of wrapping paper, which I spent a ridiculous amount of money in but it was really gorgeous and I can't wait to give some gifts now! The folks here also run a ghost tour. I overheard the proprietor speaking with some other customers, and he mentioned they do a 90 minute walking tour. I was so bummed that I had plans tonight (even more bummed that those plans didn't really materialize!!). Next time I visit I would like to take a ghost tour. It was especially interesting listening to these folks talk with the owner because they themselves are ghost hunters, and they were asking about haunted places and said they like to take their own equipment out to explore. The store is not really accessible, unfortunately. There is a big step up from the sidewalk to enter. If you have mobility issues but can manage a large step up (probably at least 6-8 inches) it may work, but wheelchair users will not be able to enter. The owners seem to be cultivating a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere, so if you need assistance I'm sure they would be happy to help.

It's a small building that has so many cool items on the inside from homemade goods, crystals, carvings, herbs, jewelry...the list goes on! It also helps that they have an adorable shop cat named Jasper! He made my day. I definitely do recommend this shop if you're looking for some interesting pieces to add to your collection.

I was also searching for some supplements for my mom, but lets not kid ourselves, I was there for the malted milk balls. The health hut still has a fabulous selection of vitamins, supplements, and hard to find health foods. The parking lot in the back is very convenient, since the store is right on 1st Ave and there isn't really any parking in front. However, the parking lot appears to be a hangout for the locals. It's not exactly Cabrini Green, but I wouldn't walk around here alone after dark (or after noon, actually). The staff is always very helpful, they seem to really know what they're talking about and care about their customers. They aren't just there to sell you something.

I was immediately skeptical based on the comments, but was met by people of many cultures and walks of life who spoke as they passed. Some smiled. NOTHING is scary about this area so ignore the ignorance preceding my review. If you're afraid of people who don't look like you, stay in your bubble and disengage from society period. Anywho, enough about foolishness from foolish people. I ADORE ALICIA and really appreciate how she went out of her way to help me and answer my questions. There is a wide array of products, many specials and discounts, and the prices are great! I always come in for one thing and leave with 7 or 8 when I go to stores like these! There is parking on the side near McDonald's and in the rear so it's pretty convenient to get to. I will be a frequent customer and am SO GLAD I CAME!
