Sinclair - The Dino is so cute!

Dinosaur gas! Considering that this gas is made up of real…read morelife dinosaurs, I guess it's appropriate! This is the first time I've ever really seen such a gas station. We don't have these down in Texas. I guess our prices are cheaper in Texas by about a buck (plus!) a gallon. But you're not coming to West Yellowstone for the freedom-giving low gas prices are you? You're here for the wildlife. Expect high prices in the only civilization just outside some of the wildest countryside in the continental United States. The pumps afforded more than enough room for my goliath rented sports utility vehicle. Enough room to turn around! The pumps were well lit, clean and functioned properly. There's a convenience store here, but I didn't go in. I was most impressed with the graffiti on the fence by the pump that was hand signed by the artist! Vogue! I'd stop here again- it's located on a signalized hard corner with lots of great visibility and competitively priced petrol.

This may be the cutest gas station ever because of the adorable green brontosaurus! The station is clean and is your typical gas station - you can pump your own gas at all hours, it's got the window washing tool thingie with paper towel dispenser, and takes credit card. It's located directly across the street from the Days Inn. It actually wasn't the cheapest gas in West Yellowstone, but it was only like two cents more a gallon than the Chevron a few blocks over, so not a huge difference. I would give it five stars but this location doesn't have a Dino Mart like some of the other Sinclairs. But the dino is super cute!!!

Yellowstone General Stores - Yellowstone water for Frank B

Yellowstone General Stores

There are many of these general stores throughout Yellowstone National Park. They are located in…read morethe all the major areas of the park. This one is located in Canyon Village near the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. This store has groceries, gear for outdoor activities like fishing and camping, apparel, gifts, souvenirs and snacks. I stopped in here because I was craving something sweet after a day of hiking. They have a pretty nice selection of ice cream here. The guy serving me definitely wasn't bashful in his portion sizes. The giant size scoops of ice cream in my cup were much appreciated.

This general store has a bit of a grocery section where you can get a lot of processed foods, some individual frozen meals that you can heat up in their microwaves. All the prices here are astronomically high, but there are no other options within an hour or two drive, so this is it. Be sure to check out the liquor section- they have a variety of local liquors including some huckleberry flavored vodkas. Again- sky high prices. Attached to this gift shop is a 50's style diner with expensive mediocre food. My favorite part of this store is the displays- look out for the stuffed buffalo, bears, and other shop displays. The staff was all present and working hard. Prices are clearly marked, but they're just crazy expensive. If you need any of these Yellowstone items that are mass produced in China and stamped with a buffalo, you can get all of it outside the park for a fraction of the price. Parking is easy, there's a whole little village in here that's built around the parking lot.
