About a month ago at Spec's Liquor Store in Hurst, I witnessed a situation that left a bad…read moreimpression. An employee asked a manager for help, and the manager -- a heavyset gentleman with a beard and longer hair -- responded very rudely, acting irritated that he was being bothered. It was uncomfortable to watch and not how staff should be treated. Unfortunately, I had my own negative interaction with the same manager today. I tried to return a can of vanilla whipped cream that never worked, even though it was fairly expensive. The cashier mentioned that many customers have had problems with this specific item and that people return it often. When the manager came over, he spoke in a rude and condescending tone and told me he could not return anything he couldn't resell. When I asked why something defective couldn't be returned, he insisted it was company policy. Based on that, I left and had the cashier throw the item away. Once I got to my car, I checked the Spec's website and saw that their return policy actually allows returns for defective items -- exactly what the cashier had said. I went back inside, showed the manager the policy on the company's own website, and asked for the corporate office number. At that point he sent another manager named Bree, who handled the situation professionally and processed the return. She even said she didn't understand why the item wasn't returned in the first place, since the vanilla whipped cream is a known issue. I appreciate Bree correcting the situation, but the original manager's attitude and refusal to follow the company's policy made what should have been a simple return unnecessarily frustrating.

It's a bit smaller than some of the other mega liquor stores in the area, bus still a lot to offer. The team here is always super friendly and helpful if you're looking for something specific. Prices are always about on par with the area, so I don't find myself comparing prices. Only thing I'd love to see more of is a bit more NA product. It's more conveniently located than Total Wine and I'd definitely do all my wine/beer/mocktail shopping here, given the choice.

This store is a little smaller than the others, but the selection was diverse, and the aisles had plenty of room. There is a wall of shelves with minis, in case you want to try a certain type before you purchase a large bottle. Prices are reasonable and maybe even a bit less expensive than other package stores.

This new liquor store is sparkling clean and well organized, and they're still getting set up so some sections aren't quite filled in yet (most notably their wine selection). I was also pleasantly surprised and impressed with their selection. We buy more common brands of liquor that you can find seemingly anywhere but I specifically noticed that they have a good selection of tequilas and a few that I know friends drink and sometime complain are hard to find, so I thought that was pretty cool. We didn't need any help finding what we wanted, but the guys working there were really friendly and asked if they could help us. I am a big fan. We were in and out in a couple minutes and you can't beat the convenience.
