This was my first time here. My food was very good and my server was very attentive. However I think this restaurant is very very dirty!!

A downtown stalwart, and one of Roanoke's better known late night venues, this place has it all: classic bar, pool hall, dance venue, great menu, outdoor dining....what else could you ask for? Great pizza, some of the best wings you'll ever put in your mouth, huge salads, a great ribeye steak with blue cheese, a good wine list, and they make a great black & tan. "The Champ" is my favorite lunch entree - for $6.99 you get 2 ground beef patties covered in cheese and sauteed mushrooms with a generous side of broccoli - the perfect low carb alternative for us "South Beachers"... If you're not doing low carb, they have a plethora of sandwich options for lunch - all of them loaded and very good. For dinner it's all good - a great ribeye with melted blue cheese, fresh seafood choices, and good wine make this a venue that will satisfy most palates. More than a safe bet, the food here is great. My boyfriend insisted we come here on a recent visit to Roanoke and after a wonderful experience @ the Pine Room Bar at the Hotel Roanoke, I must say this place was a bit of a let-down...to say the least. First off, the place is HUGE, and based on this fact I thought it would have a pretty decent crowd. Unfortunately, on this particular night---this was not the case. The place was nearly empty, and while the drinks were cheap, nothing about it really stood out. What did stand out, however---was the fact that they were still charging cover even though there was no band, no dj, and no people there. Went last night for the Roanoke Conspiracy Improv Show. The show was pretty good, good atmosphere and a fun time. This is my second time eating at Corned Beef & Co. I remember why I never went back after the first time 1.5 years ago. The foot was awful. I can honestly say maybe one of the worst I've had. We got the BBQ Pork Nachos as an appetizer. There was barely ANY pork on them, never mind the lack of BBQ sauce. They were completely smothered in coleslaw with a small side of chips. The burger I got was pretty much a frozen "Bubba Burger" that they threw on a bun and was still a little undercooked in the middle. My wife got the Buffalo Mac and Cheese - not that hard to make, right? - and it was just noodles with melted kraft shredded cheddar cheese on top. Just awful all around. Worst $40 I've ever spent on food, for sure. read more

Corned Beef is a Roanoke staple. Consistently the place to go out at nights. For Yelps sake, I will only review my lunch experience. If you are rollin' solo and looking for a quick in-and-out lunch, then this is the place... as long as you sit at the bar. I was there at peak lunch time and there was only one other dude bellied up besides myself. I got "The Traditional" sandwich, which is a pastrami/corned beef combo with two cheeses and dressing... pretty much a Reuben with a chip on it's shoulder. I love me a corned beef sandwich and they make a great one. I guess they better with a name like that. The only thing I would do different is lightly toast the bread, but as I said, it's a really good sandwich. Standard curly fries from the bag, no hand-cut fresh fries, but it's to be expected in a place like this. The service was average, nothing to write home about. Run-of-the-mill daytime bartender conversation, I guess. Food and bill were out quick-like. I was in and out in under 35 minutes. If you spend a deal of time in Roanoke at all, I say you should give it a try just to say you've been there. As far as nightlife goes, it is a good time and they do it up right for St. Patty's Day. read more

Took a visiting couple from Detroit out tonight and tried this place bc of the different rooms. Started in the pool room to play shuffleboard. As soon as you enter you're overwhelmed with a poignant smell. Was told by the bartender that, "hey, a lot of drinks have been spilled here." No concern whatsoever. Then, asked to play shuffleboard. There's a charge to play. Was told that the scoring mechanism doesn't work, but still charged full price. Then asked for a frozen margarita. Of course told the entire place doesn't serve frozen drinks. So if you're a college aged kid who doesn't care about smell, being over charged for things that don't work, or not being able to order simple drinks, then this is the place for you. This little dive bar was such a pleasure to find while visiting the awesome city of Roanoke..... I loved everything about the downtown but this place stood out since it was exactly what you look for in a dive bar including the worn pool tables that are still serviceable and the extremely well-priced happy hour drinks..... I can only speak to the food and restaurant side, but the pizza was very good. A margherita pizza can be ruined by even slightly poor ingredients, and this pizza was very fresh. Our only minor complaint was that the tomatoes were too thick and didn't cook as deeply as we prefer. Now consider just how picky that complaint is... On the flip side, these people understand that the cheese should be browned. Finally! Service for us was great. We clearly were there before the Saturday crowd, but everything was prompt without being overbearing. The artwork is fun, and the environment was relaxed at 8pm on a Saturday. One word of caution, though: Those stairs are very short and narrow. They may serve to keep the bar patrons downstairs, so perhaps that's good? Probably one of the best place in Roanoke on a night out! Usually this is our last stop after everyone has had plenary of booze in them. There's a 5$ cover which I don't understand at all I mean it's Roanoke but they need to make money somehow. The beers and drinks are reasonably priced few items on the tap! And many different bars I think they have 3 of them in total which is great because it can get crowded and long waiting for drinks but bars are pretty quick here. Overall this is a must go to place went in Roanoke! But be prepared for a cover charge! read more

CLEAN YOUR BATHROOMS!!! They smell like swill and piss. What is this place a bar, a club and pool hall, a live music venue, a restaurant? Whatever it is they are trying to be all things to all people and they are doing nothing remarkable. I guess "do what you do best" was missed by these folks. The food was OK, nothing you cannot get anywhere else in America, the band was load and pretty much a metal/rock band. The Upstairs was a dark room, with dance music. No club lights not much for sitting space, just a bunch of people bumpin and grinding. It was actually kind of pathetic in a funny way. The pool room had shuffle board and plenty of tables. The roof top bar looked like it might have some potential; if people actually used it. We were there on two different Saturday nights and my experience was roughly the same. One bartender ruined the whole experience for us. One star for Anthony. Will not return. Visiting from NYC and looking forward to some southern hospitality on their rooftop terrace. Couldn't be more wrong. We've been to Corned Beef several times over the years for food and drinks (both good in the past). I have actually given positive reviews a couple of those visits. Most often we have visited in the winter not knowing there was a rooftop area and we were quite pleased to hear they had one. However being greeted (actually no greeting - basically a what do you want) by a surly Anthony ruined the expectation. Not to worry there are plenty of friendly bars in Roanoke. When in doubt, go to the restaurant with the most people. You usually can't go wrong with this methodology. However, sometimes, you end up places that people tend to drink at rather than eat. This looks like one of those places. I'm judging this place on lunch and not the bar scene. The place is basically a pretty standard bar and grill. We came here for lunch as part of an interview. I got the Warehouse Row sandwich which was basically roast beef, corned beef, ham, with cole slaw on a 7 inch sub roll. It was decent sandwich. It didn't blow me away. It was pretty average which is surprising given the components. The chips were decent. The place was packed and the service was a little slow. It took awhile to get our food and the bill, but drink refills came out pretty quickly. Honestly, this place is a decent lunch option, but I think there's better in the area. Stayed in Roanoke one night on our way down to Myrtle Beach and decided on Corned Beef and Co for dinner. The menu is huge and has a ton of different options. I got the Chicken Parm and the chicken was cooked to perfection. I would definitely order this again but the standout for me was the Buffalo Mac and Cheese that my stepmom ordered. This had the perfect amount of buffalo flavor. It was so good. A week later and I'm still thinking about it and wishing I lived closer. This is what you expect from a sports bar. We sat in the downstairs back bar area and watched some college football while we are. We opted to split a Caesar salad and split a couple of pizzas. For the 4 of us, it was plenty of food. The Caesar salad was very good! We split the large one 4 ways and it was enough for everyone to have a little bit. My parents ordered the Supreme pizza and we got the Blackened Chicken and Spinach Alfredo pizza. We were all sold on pizza the second we saw the brick oven. The crust and cook was very good but I thought the sauce and toppings were mediocre. My parents really enjoyed the pizza though, so maybe I'm just a pizza snob. read more

"Other side of the rope" were the first words I heard, as me and my kind friends waited in line to celebrate a new job offer. Unfortunately, after huffing and puffing our way through the sidewalks of downtown, making sure to arrive before 10pm, we were still charged a cover fee. No ID's checked, no smiles made, we made our way into the bar. I must make a thriving comment on both the bartenders and managers for their excellent customer service after a slightly deterring entrance. We are in town for a family reunion. The original plan was a big pasta dinner at a families house. But their water went out. So, about 1:00 this afternoon some of the family that lives in town went to Corned Beef & Co and asked them if they could accommodate a party of about 50 at 6:30. They were awesome!!! Not only did they give us our own room but we had I believe 3 servers and our very own bartender, Crystal. I can't say enough about our experience. Everyone was amazing and our food was great! I didn't have the greatest take out experience at Corned Beef. I was excited to order a crab cake sandwich and curly fries. However when I called, I was put on hold after requesting to make a to go order for over five minutes. Then when I arrived the bartender ignored me for a few minutes, going in to help men that had come in after me. This was a place we went to on a business trip to VA. Cool place, it was a Thursday and it might have been a close second to 202 Restaurant down the road (they had karaoke going on.) We were only there for drinks, but it wasn't crowded and I noticed how BIG this place was. I mean, there was a large pool hall, a large room for the dance club scene, a fairly sized dining area upstairs, a bar area, AND a rooftop lounge (that's where we hung out). It was nice because there was a guy playing live music. Can't comment on the food, since we just ate at The Homeplace prior to venturing downtown Roanoke. This place is totally disgusting. I've been here a couple times and it have never been a good experience but this last time will be my last visit for sure. They have the rudest bartenders! The tall blonde and black girl that always work the middle bar are extremely rude to customers EVERY TIME I'm in there, even when it's not busy at all they act like they are to busy to serve you alcohol they would rather gossip and text. And to top the cake we ordered the nachos and the server brought us small plates to the table that had literally a dead cockroach stuck to the top of both the bottom plates. Dead bugs on two different plates! No manager ever even came by to speak with us after thats I was horrified, appalled, and disgusted with my experience here I wouldn't recommend to any one. This has honestly got to be the largest establishment ever. The entrance bar area is nice for hanging out and watching TV away from all the dancing and rowdiness. If you walk to your left you will enter room numero dos, which has another bar, a smaller dance floor to the left where live music is frequently played and bar tables and booths to the right. If you continue to the next room, you'll stumble into the grand pool room, which has a good number of pool tables, a shuffleboard table, and.....another bar! Walk to the back of the room for even MORE pool tables a blackjack table, bathrooms and stairs that lead upstairs to...ANOTHER BAR...a huge dance floor and people just getting there groove on. It can be a bit intimidating walking upstairs with your girlfriend and I highly suggest avoiding it. While upstairs, you can walk to the deck, which is a great place to kick back and enjoy the great outdoors. Corned Beef is huge. Its fun because you always run into people you know but can be a bit annoying because...well...you always run into people you know. The crowd can get a bit rough upstairs but it happens. Definitely not a date place for a night out but its good for dinner if you are with your significant other. Tyler is one of the bartenders and he's the man.
