The eye pressure test consits of blowing air into your open eyeball to measure the pressure. Not very comfortable, but neither is the version that uses a pen looking apparatus that pushes your eyeball to measure pressure like the type used at Garrett Eye Clinic. The eye exam concluded that my eyes are petfect and there is no need for glasses. Although they say I see perfectly I do disagree somewhat, because of side effects of Sjogren's Syndrome it is very difficult to focus and there is immense pain from the extreme dry eye and that in turn blurs my vision.

The exam is very thorough and the eye pressure test here is done by pushing on your eyeballs with a tool that resembles an ink pen. I've had a pressure test performed at another office and they shot blasts of air into my eyes to measure pressure. It was a very unpleasant experience. Well, both methods are uncomfortable, but if I had to choose a preferred method, it'd be the pen-like tool. Dr. Garrett is friendly and professional. She explains as she goes along so you can relax a bit more. The desk help is always smiling and helpful. There is an in-house eyeglass frame station with people willing to help you decide. In my case I didn't need glasses, but if you want custom sunglasses they will hook you up with that also.

The doctor was nice but, for some reason, they seemed to want to push contacts on both of us. Just business, I suppose. My wife said she was not heard when she asked the technician about her frames and prescription. She thought the technician was rude. I had the same experience as the technician who helped me was rather rude and dismissive. Maybe they were having a bad day. I will give them that. The issue started with the billing. We tried to pay with a visa they said they could not take through the credit card machine. I allowed for them to make a copy of the card as well as the 3 digit code. They said they would run it later. I was then told I could leave with my wife's new frames. We received a call a day or so later saying that we had left without paying. I reminded them I had left the card information. They then said they needed the 3 digit code. I reminded them that I had left it with them. They charged the remainder and called again saying that a $20 fee for lenses was not charged. This was then charged. We received a letter a few days later stating that, in highlight, that we had left without payment. I was already upset that our credit card information was floating around and we had been contacted by a number of people who seemed to have misplaced personal information. They just seem to be inept with zero communication between them. So I am dealing with our information floating around, rude and pushy employees and accusations of theft as well as extra fees out of nowhere due to their "forgetfulness". As stated above, the doctor was pleasant. The rest of the staff we dealt with, not so much. The decision to go there is yours. We will be finding another optician.

I was referred to Shipp & Wooten Eye Center for cataract surgery and given several options at my evaluation. The Light Adjustable Lens was one of my options. It was an extra expense, but it was well worth it. I would recommend it to any and everyone. This new technology was a blessing from God for me. It's the best thing I ever done!! I am now seeing 20/20 out of both eyes!! I'm seeing colors I've never seen before!! I seen a rainbow for the first time since I can remember, and I didn't realize it had so many beautiful vibrant colors. I am so happy with my vision. My grandkids, I knew they were beautiful, but the details of their faces, they are absolutely beautiful. If you are on the fence about your surgery and your lens option. The light adjustable lens is the way to go.
