They offer a $5 day pass option for guests, so if, like many in the greater Lake George area you are visiting for a portion of the summer, it's an excellent option which other gyms in the area do not offer. The "Anytime" part of anytime fitness is only for full members with a key card - the day pass is only when the gym is staffed (Tues-Th 11a-7p, Fri-Sat 8a-4p right now), which is understandable. I didn't inquire as to the membership rates for obvious reasons, but if you are up here full time and the rates are competitive, I'd strongly recommend it - the gym is incredibly clean, with excellent equipment - much newer, nicer equipment than most of the fancy, presumably more expensive NYC gyms I've been to, in fact. The staff is friendly and its one of the few gyms I've been to where they actually play quality music, so much so that I wouldn't have left without working out had I forgot my iPod (which I *might* have done before at other gyms). My one quibble would be that there isn't really a formal locker room area, just a couple of large, clean bathrooms with one shower. I realize this is a bit of an outgrowth of location, and that most people in non-city gyms just drive here and leave the grooming for home, but I still appreciate having the option to comfortably shower/change and go somewhere directly from the gym, which I don't think I'd want to do here. Would also worry about a wait for a bathroom/locker at more crowded times of day. But whether you're looking for an easy no-frills temp. vacation gym option or for a new permanent gym upstate, I think the quality of this place makes it well worth it.

On top of that, the value you get for the family membership is beyond worth it. So excited to finally take the leap and join the Y. Walked in to work out and noticed Fox News wasn't on any of their many TVs. When asked, staff flat-out said they're "not allowed" to put it on. So let me get this straight -- dozens of televisions, nonstop sports, random reality nonsense, and selectively approved news channels, but one mainstream news network is banned? That's not "judgment free," that's controlled and biased. I'm here to lift weights, not be quietly told what viewpoints are acceptable. If Planet Fitness wants to act like a politically filtered bubble instead of a gym, they should be honest about it. Plenty of other gyms manage to treat adults like adults and let them choose what they watch. Do better -- or at least stop pretending this place is neutral! I am pleased to say that after two years of core, glute, and hamstring work my Knee is 90% and my back is nearly 100%. In addition, I went from being able two do six body weight pull ups to 6 pull ups with 53 lbs, have gone from 18% bodyfat and 182 lbs to 12% bodyfat and 194 lbs, and am much fluid and flexible than I was (even with too many hours at my desk).
