Powerful instructors and a lovely front desk coordinator who was very helpful to me as an out of state visitor (and current CPY teacher) from Minnesota. The Ward location has a variety of classes available for all levels and a super sweet Ward Wall which gives the bio's of all the instructors. So cute! I took yoga sculpt and C2 with instructors Natalie and Theresa. Both teachers had their own style and energy. The large studio has some funky blue lights for yoga sculpt which I had never seen before but added to the party element of class with a large standing speaker to push forward with energetic beats. While not a super large building, the entire space from the locker rooms, studios and front desk was very clean. Lastly, the location is great as it's next to a T.J. Maxx and South Shore Market which carries delicious food spots such as coffee, smoothies and various trinket stores. As shopping, dining and yoga fall hand in hand for me - I enjoyed the entire experience. Thank you! Mahalo!

Update 7/6/20: I was given a stern warning about posting photos on Yelp by the studio manager. She followed me around the studio to make sure I didn't take any photos . The corporate office also eventually cancelled my membership without warning, in order to avoid updated reviews (such as this one ). I have since found a wonderful studio in my neighborhood that is PERFECT during Covid. It is enclosed but they keep a wall of windows open, keep doors open, require masks at all times, cheaper than CPY, have air filters positioned throughout the studio, and have markings on the floor to indicate the 6 feet of distance necessary to optimize safety. I am much happier with this move. The instructors are much more knowledgeable and provide a variety of creative flows and classes. If you'd like to know the name of this studio, feel free to message me! I've updated my reviews of this studio several times, as I'm continuously hopeful that conditions for yogis (including myself) experiencing this studio will improve. My reviews have yielded a handful of telephone calls from studio managers and messages via Yelp, which suggest that CPY's local managers may have a genuine interest in helping improve the company. It is with deep regret that I admit, things have remained mostly status quo. Unfortunately, I believe there are instructors who truly take on the role because they wholeheartedly believe in the practice; however, many of them, in addition to the managers, have likely come up against a wall of a corporation. I've made several suggestions for capping the attendance at some of the sculpt classes, as these classes have been dangerously overloaded with yogis. I intentionally arrive 35 - 40 minutes early just to get a spot, only to be pushed out by others who come later and cut ahead, or those who lay mats down in the studio to save spaces for their friend(s) coming later. Most times, the space between mats is approximately 4 inches, if I'm lucky, 6. At other times, my mat has been as close as ONE inch to the person next to me. There is often someone practicing right in front of the exit/entrance door to the studio, making it difficult to leave, should an emergency arise. Black tag membership used to be $100/month for unlimited classes. Showers, locker rooms, sanitary wipes for your mat and weights, and toiletries were provided. Membership, as of late, has increased to $189/month for unlimited classes, showers, locker room, and toiletries. They've done away with the wipes, increasing the chances of bacterial infection in a toasty, Petri dish of a yoga studio, where bacteria partaaayyyyy...especially with all those sweaty bodies dripping and hands touching the weights. This party is topped off with 65 - 70is bodies moving and grooving and bumping into each other in a disaster waiting to happen. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/corepower-yoga-instructors-sue-americas-largest-chain-of-yoga-studios-for-underpaying/

After trying different workouts, I realized I needed something that would help me sweat while also stretching and opening up my body. I signed up in January 2025, and by April, I was pregnant! I truly believe the consistency here helped prep my body for that transition. Here is why I've stuck with them: The Vibe: It's incredibly chill and welcoming. The instructors are relatable and down-to-earth, not intimidating at all. Variety & Convenience: I love the range of classes (even the cycling/spin classes are fantastic!) and having multiple locations close to home made it easy to stay committed. Affordability: The pricing is very reasonable for the quality of instruction you receive. Yoga through Pregnancy & Postpartum: Continuing my practice during pregnancy was a lifesaver. It helped open up my hips and relieved those inevitable achy spots. I honestly felt that yoga prepped my body for the physical intensity of birthing. I was back in the studio just two weeks after giving birth because I knew my body needed help recovering--specifically in my pelvis, hips, and lower back. Now that I'm nursing and pumping, the classes are essential for opening up my chest and upper back. If you're looking for a studio that supports you through every season of life, this is it!

Although only a minor reason why you should continue your yoga practice here, the fact that the first three classes are free is kickass cool. The duo teach hatha yoga five days a week in a breezy, open-air classroom at the Waikiki Community Center. Parking is free at the center (enter from the Liliuokalani side of the block, not the Paoakalani side of the block). The entire second-floor classroom floor is covered with a thick spongy surface that you can put your yoga mat or or borrow one of the ones Murti or Larina provide. There is very little chance of slipping or hurting yourself. Maha Fusion also provides straps and blocks, which they use in every class to support good form. The class is gentle, restorative, and yet designed with pose progression such that even students who have been practicing for decades will find their edge of challenge. Murti's yoga heritage goes back to Rodney Yee, whom I believe is a master of restorative, restful poses, but Murti also folds in traditions of ashtanga, a more acrobatic and spectacular yoga practice. We also use methods employed by those who practice kundalini yoga, micro yoga, B.K.S. Iyengar yoga and vinyasa yoga. Murti is an avid read in yoga theory and makes his students well aware of the vast survey of yoga teaching through commentaries and the sutras. Go Rumi! Larina is a dancing yogini! Larina teaches classes in conjunction with Murti, and usually heads up the Saturday class. Her hatha-based practice folds in elements of ecstatic dance. Students in her class will find themselves moving about the classroom in addition to engaging in a challenging vinyasa flow. Larina has a very healing and gentle spirit about her and the sharpest eye when it comes to adjusting students' form. With the slightest touch or brush of her fingertips she will have you executing poses with the accuracy. What I love the most about this practice is the flexibility is brings to my own practice. I am an athlete and strong and experienced in practice, yet there are days when my body, like anyone's is not having it, has had it, and does not want me to be there. Those are the days that I am thankful I practice with these two. I am never made aware that I suck that day and never am I guilted into going beyond what I should be doing that day. Larina and Murti break down each pose is broken down into krama or various expressions of a pose, from the slightest expression of a pose to its grand finale, and each student is invited to find a variation of the pose that suits them that day. There are some days when I am a full wheel and some days I am a man on his back with just his hips raised off the floor a little. The students in the classes range from 30-something to 70-somethings, from surfers and athletes to grandmas and grampas. The rapport between students is remarkable, and is probably due to the fact that in every practice the students engage in partner yoga whereby they assist one another in obtaining the proper form or in engaging in more challenging poses with the support of another person. It is common to for students at the center to greet one another with hugs and kisses on the cheek. At least several times a year there are vegetarian potlucks after classes on Sunday where students catch up, and every month there is a meditation group held at the beach. In sum, Murti and Larina have created a yoga community. I recommend practice at Maha Fusion very much for the novice practitioner and those who have been practicing for a long time.
