If you are looking for a gym to improve your physical health in friendly, supportive environment…read morethen you will find just that at Everhard Fitness. That statement applies to someone just starting out as well as long term CrossFit athletes. Owners, Jonathon Atkinson and Ben Atkinson, are committed to a gym that is an open community that helps someone like me begin training and easily fit in with the other members who have been at Everhard for years. I am 63 years old and need workouts scaled to my fitness and strength. Jonathon and Ben give options for each exercise so everyone participates to their ability. This scaled option approach lets me perform similar movements as the fittest people in the gym but without the risk of injury. They closely watch everyone during the workouts and give excellent instruction. I can't say enough good things about Everhard, the owners and the people that make this gym a real community. The members are from all walks of life and they are committed to their own health and helping others get better. I can assure you that you will leave each session healthier and with a smile on your face. They have a busy kids area for members bringing their children in order to train. There is a children's training program. I encourage you to take the first step to best health by calling Jon and Ben. Hank H

I liked that this gym has free drop-ins and was relatively close to where I live. When I walked in I was not greeted, instead I had to introduce myself and find my way around the gym. I began to do some stretching and grabbed a bar so that we could start class. The instructor was poor. She was anything but a coach. One of the things I like about crossfit is the team-like mentality and the coaching. This had no such thing. The instructor basically read the board to us. She did not demonstrate any of the moves and she did not check for form. When the WOD began, I was struggling with hang cleans as I normally do them with dumbbells. I had to ask for help and when I did she didn't really explain anything. Instead, she said "well you can do them the way you do them since you are more comfortable that way". As we got into the workout she was on her phone, talking to people who had just walked in, and cheering on the people she knew. She did not come check on me, or pay my form any mind. Needless to say, I doubt I'll be back.

I decided to do jump start my fitness routine and did 1-on-1 personal training with Nate for about 4 weeks. The pricing for this was comparable to other gyms. Nate was very knowledgable and really helped me strive towards learning better form, what exercises worked best for my goals, and always changed up my routine so I didn't get bored. The other staff at SF were very friendly and knowledgable as well. The gym does occasionally get crowded from 4pm-7pm after work, and on Saturday mornings, but most gyms typically do. Still, I never really had to wait to get on a machine or equipment during even the busiest times. The facility was always clean and has showers in the locker rooms. Although I did not participate in the group classes, they do have multiple options and it seemed that people got a lot out of them. I would definately recommend Summer's Fitness to my friends and family.

I love the balance of OTF workouts between strength training and cardio…read more I visit Canton OTF every time I'm back in town visiting my family. My home studio is Playa Vista, CA, and there are so many studios in LA it's easy to bounce around. All this to say, I've been to many studios, and this is right up there with some of the nicest. The treads are a little outdated, but they're still nice. The studio is clean, always seasonally decorated to motivate and bring joy, and the coaches are great. Cassie and Lexi are my favorites because they give clear/helpful feedback and corrections, bring great energy, and are super motivating. If you're on the fence, I say you should jump in and give it a try!

The gym situation seemed pretty dismal here in North Canton until I was leaving some mediocre sushi and saw the Orangetheory logo and made my coworker pull over. One of the best things about OTheory is that first class is free. So even if you have no interest you might as well just get in there for a free class to check it out. Freebies rock, right? Structure of the class is 1/2 the class on rowers and 1/2 the class on treadmills. The instructor will call out instructions to the treadmill folks and rowers back and forth. The rowers have a sets of time they go for and then will be instructed to head to the weight area where there are TRX, weights, mats, and step boards where the instructor will demonstrate the circuit they will perform. There is also a screen to show the circuit training you will be doing and number of reps. This goes on for the first half of class. The those on the treadmills switch with those from the rowers. The goal of the class is to be in the orange zone on your heart rate which is the optimal cardio zone. It is definitely nice to see the stats and get a feeling for your calories burned. You don't have to buy the monitor for yourself if you think you might only do the one visit per week option like me. In that case it is $5 each time. But if you think this will become your thing it is worth it to buy your own device for $50. The first visit is a free rental. Happy working out!
