We were greeted by an exceptionally warm valet attendant, welcoming, efficient, and genuinely great. While we ultimately chose not to use valet service, it was reassuring to know it was available. An added convenience: a nearby charging station within easy walking distance, where we parked with ease. Our first interaction by phone set the tone for the stay. A gracious front desk associate, her name may have been Valencia or Veronica (not sure) handled our check-in and made us feel both welcomed and valued. Despite arriving slightly ahead of schedule, she graciously accommodated an early check-in, a gesture that immediately elevated the experience. The hotel itself strikes a thoughtful balance between modern refinement and coastal tradition. Natural light pours through the public spaces, lending the interiors an airy, relaxed elegance. Our room was impeccably clean and well appointed, but it was the bathroom and sweeping water views that truly stood out peaceful, restorative, and unmistakably coastal. There were occasional sounds from the hallway and a few muffled bumps from above, curious given our top-floor location, though none disrupted our rest. During the holiday bustle, we did experience a couple of unanswered calls to the front desk, but the otherwise attentive service and seasonal demands made this understandable. The grounds are beautifully maintained, and the addition of an on-site ice-skating rink offers a charming, unexpected touch especially for families. Overall, The Beaufort Hotel delivers a refined yet approachable stay, and it's one we would gladly return to.

After returning home, I realized I had accidentally left a jacket and shirt hanging in the closet. I contacted the hotel about a week later, but by then the items were gone and could not be located. What disappointed me most was the way the situation was handled. When I calmly asked whether I could speak with the housekeeper who cleaned the room, the general manager became very defensive and raised his voice, telling me, "I will NOT allow you to speak with my employees." I understand I should have called sooner, and I wasn't accusing anyone of anything -- I was simply trying to locate sentimental and valuable belongings. For a hotel of this caliber, especially one that hosts weddings and important family events, I expected more professionalism, empathy, and better lost-and-found procedures. I'm sharing this so future guests remember to double-check their rooms carefully before leaving.

After about an hour after lightning it, the room was filled with smoke, the alarm went off and had to open the door to our porch and the entry door. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful during my stay. I stayed in a 2nd-floor waterfront room again, and although I didn't use the balcony as much as I had in summer, the views out the windows were still lovely, and I got to see a few sunsets. My room was large and had a king-sized bed, a couch, a table with two chairs, a good-sized flat-screen TV, a refrigerator, a microwave, and a coffeemaker. A dehumidifier was in the room, but it was less humid this time of year, so it didn't need to be emptied. Shampoo, soap and lotion were provided. The products were good quality, and I remembered to bring my own conditioner, and I am not sure why it isn't provided. I was pleased that the wifi was working on this trip, as that has been an issue on each of my previous visits. The tv lineup also had more selection. They may have switched providers for more reliable service. The heater in the room kept the room hot, it got a little too hot at times and it was just set on 63 but that made the room closer to 75. The lowest the wall unit went was 58. I couldn't find a way to shut off the ceiling fan. The bathroom could have used more attention with the cleaning. The showerhead had a lot of buildup and didn't appear to have been cleaned for months; black mold on the shower tiles and the floor could use a cleaning. It could use a deep cleaning or remodel, as the toilet was outdated and used a lot of water. Breakfast was served between 7:30 and 9:30. You could get tea or coffee, OJ, and a bagel or yogurt. It came fast this visit on the days I called for it. I left early on my last day, so I wasn't there for breakfast. They used to include the yogurt too. With the high room prices here, I hope the bathrooms are updated and cleaned, and that the breakfast options improve.

And yet, of all the places I have been, few can match the charm and service of this wonderful couple and this establishment. "Charming coastal" is indeed accurate as another reviewer noted, but so is kind and engaging. At least, that is how I found the host Kim, who is the hostess during your stay. The rooms are modest in size but well appointed and comfy with a wonderful balcony to enjoy a morning coffee and watch the city wake up. The highlight of each morning was the breakfast together. The breakfast is served at 9 sharp and is served with the other guests. It makes for not only a delicious breakfast, but Kim uses it as an opportunity to help direct, guide, and suggest places nearby that meet your interests. This is great as it means you get insider tips and ways to optimize your stay by taking the guesswork out--particularly when you have a small window for activities (we were only there for a few days). In the evenings, Kim hosts a happy hour which includes helping guests secure reservations and dinner plans settled before you go. This is not just a recommendation by Kim--she actively calls and secures the spots and confirms them with you. True concierge service! Setting aside the wonderful host and the rooms, the location is superb. We were there over the weekend, and there is a delightful Saturday market literally ACROSS the street filled with vendors of all varieties. Warming: it is easy to spend. ;) The entirety of the downtown is merely a block away with shops, restaurants, and bars galore along with the cruises, sports fishing, and recreation just a short walk down the road. Bottom line: I adored this place and have already recommended it to friends and family here in Durham (where we live) and beyond. If you can swing it (it is worth every penny) and want to give yourself or your partner a weekend to remember, I cannot more strongly recommend the Inn on Turner.

The staff were friendly and prompt to greet us upon check-in; the lobby is large and tidy. The rooms are well kept and spacious. We chose a suite room with a water view and weren't disappointed. It was super nice with a full kitchen and large living room in addition to a spacious room and bathroom. Beautiful views and nice size balconies round out the experience. Only two things quickly to note: 1) The balconies are lovely, but we had a weird experience with little finches getting caught between the concrete of the balcony edge and the gap between the clear plexiglass. We ended up rescuing 2 birds in the same morning, so hoping that doesn't happen frequently. Poor birds. 2) The breakfast is a bit sparse and comes off as somewhat cheap. Lovely to have it delivered to your room, but the portions were super tiny and pretty sparse overall. I would've preferred a traditional continental breakfast. Minor quibble but ultimately does matter in guest satisfaction overall. Overall a really nice hotel, good location and very clear with a few quirks.

Our choice of parking and waling to the 6 bars was a smart idea. :) The Bask's location can not be beat if you need to be in downtown Morehead city. We had a great check-in experience and were able to park in the lot 3 hours before official time. Our room was on the 7th floor and overlooked the water. It gave us a great view of the intercoastal waterway and Atlantic Beach. It came with a small kitchen that we did not use except for the coffee maker. The room was clean and met our needs. As others have said the breakfast was less than ideal. We ordered the night before and it came to our room at the appointed time. Both of us ordered yogurt and neither of us got what we ordered. My "Blue Marlin-Bask Signature" breakfast was OK but the avocado cream cheese sauce was nothing more than a small cup of cream cheese with very little avocado on top. The assorted muffins were 2 muffins that may have come from Costco. Adequate, but nothing special. My partner ordered a custom sandwich which was nothing memorable and she did not eat it. In addition to her missing yogurt, she was missing banana bread with no substitution. Lucky that she ordered milk because there were no coffee fixings (sweetener, cream, etc..) of any kind for the Keurig. Would we come back? Sure, if we needed to stay in Morehead City but we would skip the breakfast and walk up to the Big Rock Cafe (formerly Grumpys) for a real breakfast.

There were times a just a few years ago that we were very unhappy with management and the board. Timeshares were not a priority at all to them. Over the past several years a lot of great changes have been made and I am back a very happy owner and would not consider selling my units. We have a new board and a new president that takes this property and timeshares serious again, even better than it was many years ago. They have hired a new management company with a really good property manager (Matt Bruner) that is on top of the issues that come up. With the property being about 30+ years old, there are a lot of issues, but Matt stays on top of them. We use to have some security issues, but since they added secure gates along with on-site security, that problem is almost non-existent. The board has made some great changes to get the timeshares in much better shape along with getting them financially stable. We are not completely there yet, but we are really getting close. They have a great plan and are aggressively implementing it. Thank you Greg, Matt, and the rest of the board and volunteers.

They have a large pool with lots of seating, tables, and umbrellas around the area (it's also a smoke-free zone by the poolside). There's a snack bar and a large water slide with water tubes. We're within walking distance of the beach! There's a bridge that leads us to the beach, and hoses to spray off sand when we come back. The beach has a lot of different, beautiful shells, and you can even find shark teeth since the Atlantic Ocean is warmer and more habitable for them than the Pacific Ocean is. The water is beautiful, blue, and clear, and the clouds are lower than what I'm used to, but it makes for some beautiful pictures. I was also able to take night walks by the beach while feeling safe -- it was quite therapeutic. There's a lot of amenities including mini golf, tennis, coloring pages for children, and more. Any of these equipment can be lent/given out to guests at the main office. They also have books/pamphlets with recommendations on attractions and places to eat nearby (there's one in the units as well). Always have your wristbands with you, especially when asking for things at the office, and while you're at the poolside, because they do check. There's also a good pullout bed in the couch in the living room. Each unit also has 2 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, a kitchen with pots/pans/utensils/cups/glasses, a sizable living room and dining table, and a balcony. Everything was clean besides the balcony sliding glass door (it was blurry and smudged compared to last year). There was also a spare pillow and a sheets in the master bedroom, and a spare blanket in the room with a twin bed that had another pull out twin mattress underneath. Unfortunately a lot of things went wrong on this trip compared to last year. For some reason, our washer was shaking a lot, banging into the dryer, and at some points moving so much that we had to sit on it to stop it. It was loud enough that it sounded like someone was breaking into the unit, so we had to close two doors to muffle the noise. We also had problems with the stove -- mainly the front left burner. We kept having to wiggle the metal burner around a few times for it to work as it sometimes turned itself off (sometimes even after the first wiggle, while cooking). That burner in particular was pretty unreliable, took awhile to heat up, and sometimes even got hotter when I turned it down. The other burners worked but took long to heat up as well. There were also less amenities than last time -- no Tupperware, only one extra trash bag, only 1 measuring spoon, and 3 measuring cups. Our other family members' unit's refrigerator also stopped working a couple days in and their food spoiled. Someone had come to check on it but didn't fix it fully, said it looked fine, and let the ice box drain into the fridge. Some of the outlets were loose and one of them pulled out of the wall, but thankfully everything was sealed in the outlet box so it wasn't dangerous for the kiddos. All in all, the price of our 1-week stay for 13 people across 3 units was pretty good because of the timeshare. For those who are booking units for one-off vacations, though, the price is a little more than double what we spend. This is still a really great and beautiful resort to spend time at, but a lot more things went wrong this time around and it would be unfair for those who paid that much to have to deal with all of these issues. The family whose fridge broke thankfully could rely on us, but without another unit available, they couldn't really keep food refrigerated that week. I would've given them 4-5 stars last year but this year I'm rating it at 3.5 stars out of fairness for the regular prices. Hopefully, this doesn't happen again and all of these issues get fixed! I am more than happy to give a higher rating next year when issues like these get resolved.

Do they really think someone wants to sneak in to this rundown establishment? The pool is nothing to be desired. The toaster was broken and called 3x for a replacement and never received it. The most reasonable rates I found were at the Oceanana. Several good things to say about this facility. There is a lot of open space for your beach enjoyment. Rocking chairs are there for you to enjoy. There's an outdoor pool, a couple of picnic areas, shuffleboard courts, a children's play area, access to the beach, and a free fishing pass at their pier. There's also plenty of access to water hoses to wash the sand off you or your stuff, and a clothesline with clothespins to hang your wet suits or towels. Instead of your standard mini soaps and shampoos, there are wall-mounted containers for soap, shampoo, and conditioner. I also found the staff I dealt with to be friendly. I booked the economy room. Two double beds, shower, cable tv, mini-fridge, free wifi. No frills decor, nothing fancy. Quiet surroundings. Had a small problem with the tv, and maintenance addressed it quickly. For a price that's about half of what the chains wanted, it was a good stay for me. I wouldn't suggest the economy rooms for families or business professionals needing a place to meet with clients or employees. If you are ok with a basic no-frills room or if you are there for the fishing opportunities, it's a good option.

It is like taking a step back to a simpler time when you arrive, though appearances might be a little disconcerting initially if you have never stated in such a place (by that I mean an older motel, obviously this is not a new fancy highrise Sheraton), it's an affordable family oriented resort with private beach, pool, playground, and a community feel. You can talk easily to the other guests and maybe meet people who also built cherished memories here when they were kids, too. We stayed in a suite, but not one of the renovated rooms. Overall it was definitely like going back in time, but we had everything we needed. They do the best they can with what they have, everyone there works very hard. The entire motel and property looks exactly the same as it did 40 years ago. There is a family feel to it, can't go wrong with the pool and the private beach and pier right there. Watermelon and ice cream parties on Wednesday and Saturday, it's nice to see families coming together for those activities. Every morning there is a continental breakfast outside, with items like hard boiled eggs, cheese cubes, little powdered donuts, packaged pastries and little sausage biscuits. Fruit cups, yogurts, bananas. Toast, bagels, cereal, coffee, juices. They should put up some wires atop the shelter areas to deter seagulls from menacing guests. This is not a Sheraton or upscale place, but for a few nights at the ocean you can't beat the price and the family memories made are priceless. All rooms are non-smoking, I only wish it was 100% non smoking property, people smoking at the pool and out front of their rooms was not good. Also, the room was pretty clean but the old musty carpet always felt damp. There was some gunk on the wall next to one of the beds. We were given 4 bath towels a day for 4 of us, but really could have used double that because we were at the beach every morning, then at the pool, and back at the pool at night. We brought our own pool towels of course but with 2 kids we needed more bath towels. They also never gave us more soap. We ended up using the palmolive dish soap for washing up. If you are into that retro feel, not intimidated by "first appearancees", don't mind a very simplistic room, you will not mind this motel.
