Magnifico!!!! After…read morea hiking trip to Monte Stella, which gives a magnificent view across the coast of Cilento to San Mauro we were looking for a place im Yelp for eating meat at diner. What we found was far beyond that. Suscettibile is more than just a place to have a good diner. Its more of a star class restaurant with a magnificent view across the bay of Pioppi, extraordinary friendly staff and an amazing selection of local food creations. Antonio, the owner was asking us to park our car, while he was seeing that we were looking for a parking lot in the very narrow street in front of his restaurant. We were a bit unsure but let it happen, seeing his face in the lobby of the place. When we entered the Restaurant at first floor we were greeted by his lovely wife and a magnificent view from a lovely terasse. We then selected the tuna tatar and the tapas as a starter. For the selection of the wine we had a very nice introduction to local wine by Antonio, following his recommendation for a Greco di tufo of Benito Ferrara. An excellent local wineyard. After the not to big starters we went for the filet on bone of dry aged meet and for a grilled fish filet filet with a pumpkin juice. Both was just magnificent. Finishing the meal with a panna cota and a frozen chocolate cake and Espresso was the finish to a fabulous evening.

They do not have a printed menu, and what is offered is from the fresh catch of the day. We decided to share a single portion of ante pasta, though something was gained in translation, as enough food for six people arrived. There were only three of us. Good thing we did not order first and second dishes (pasta then fish or meat). The food arrived with a squid and artichoke dish and a plate of octopus. This was followed with a dish of whole, small octopus in a sauce. A grilled swordfish was excellent. Two plates of the freshest mussels ever arrived (we had asked for mussels). We drank a bottle of white Basilicata Ballaggio. They include a carne option in the second dish, by the way. We concluded with a sample of house made amare and a rosolio. On our way out, the owner showed us a picture of a rare catch that day kf a prized fish, and he explained their all fresh approach. What can one say. Tip well, eat well (tipping not expected in Italy, by the way).
