I brought in a leather bag recently to see if they could repair a small rip. Instead of attempting to fix it, they simply told me that it would be better if I didn't repair it as it would cause more damage. Usually, you would expect them to repair it, and regardless of the final results, they will still find a way to make money off of you. This honesty thing is important these days. My sandals didn't need extensive repairing, the leather strap had just separated and I didn't trust myself in glueing it back together. They did this job flawlessly and in a timely manner. For a few years this cordonnerie was the place where I used to go for minor repairs. I never had…read moreany complain on the quality of the service, but the recent extraordinary experience forced me to publish a negative review. I had to replace a broken zipper on my winter boots. A new zipper was installed unevenly and it opened in the middle on the 1st day I wore the boot. When I came back with open zipper, the owner of the shop told me that it happened because of the faulty lock on the zipper. He replaced that lock, but he boot remained twisted (it became twisted after zipper replacement) and hurt my foot. I came back again to the shop. The owner did not listen anything! He just removed that zipper and told that I can repair my boot anywhere else. I asked him to give my money back, and then he became violent. He flung me my money, screamed at me using *f* words, called me "psycho" and threatened to call for security! I silently left the shop. When he saw me taking the picture of his shop from the outside (that picture is uploaded to Yelp), he chased after me. Needless to say that I went to another cordonnerie. They found that one end of protecting pad under the zipper was glued to the wrong place during replacement of zipper (it has moved aside from its original place by about 1 cm!). That caused a "bump" under a zipper and twisted the boot.

Today elderly helper (father-in-law) said he would glue them for $8.00. So I asked the father-in-law cost of my half soles, showing him. He said $45.00. When I said I thought I paid $80.00, young man said I was imagining it. Impossible. Went home, found Credit Card receipt, showing $97.73. On my return, confronted by the credit card evidence, he then said that the soles could never have been $45.00, father-in-law was wrong. I asked for a refund of the difference between the two costs. Young owner fllatly refused, offered to glue soles, for free. I declined after having been royally ripped off. This is a sad case of opportunism.
