TL;DR: This place is awesome if you get the right instructors, pretty average if you don't…read more I tried out FitRepublic because (a) a friend had been there and said it was a cool spot, (b) my husband works in Bridgeland and I drive past it an awful lot, and (c) they had an introductory special. The special was $39 for 2 weeks of unlimited classes - this includes an intro to AntiGravity, but not to the regular AntiGravity classes. In those two weeks I'm pretty sure must have I set a record for most classes attended. I really did want to try this place out, so I went to 15 different classes (which amounts to just under $3 per class at that intro rate. Go me!) I don't live or work near FitRepublic at all, so my end goal was to see which classes I liked the best, so that I could go to one or two per week after the trial period. It's easy to sign up for classes online, you just purchase your pass and sign up. Then when you get there you sign in and that's that. It's much like other class-based fitness places in that sense. I ended up taking Booty Barre, Rowing, Biker Barre, Hard Knocks (kickboxing), TRX, TRX Strength Circuit, Rhythm Ride, and SPIN Express. I took many of these twice with different instructors, when possible, to try and get the full effect. The classes are mostly awesome and motivating. I am an active person, but I'm also not a small person, and can easily be intimidated by places where everyone looks like they could be on the cover of Shape. And believe me, I was frequently the chubbiest girl in the class at FitRepublic. But the motivating, welcoming nature of the gym made me feel comfortable almost all of the time. There was one class where I clearly could not keep up, and felt more intimidation than motivation (I won't say which class or which instructor, but I cried after, which was a bummer), but this was one time out of fifteen. And when I went to that same class taught by a different instructor I had a really awesome experience, so I wouldn't begrudge FitRepublic a good review for that isolated incident. My two-week trial is almost up, and after it's done I think I'll keep going to one or two classes per week, as I had intended to. Trial=success! If you're interested, I would highly recommend getting the two-week trial and trying out as many of the classes as you can. Get a feel for which classes and which instructors you like, and judge for yourself.

I find classes where the instructors don't work out with the team minimally motivating. The class I…read moreattended here was one such class. It felt repetitive and boring, with an instructor walking around and announcing how much time we had left. Also, since she was observing us, I would expect her to correct my form. Instead, I've woken up with bruises on my forearms from the very technical kettlebell exercises that weren't properly explained. The studio in itself was cute and cozy, and the facilities were well-stocked and inviting. The class, however, could have been better.

I would assume by the name of the place that this is where you would go to take any sort of dance…read morelesson possible. But, I would assume wrong. Love 2 Move is actually a place that offers yoga, pilates and circuits. The classes are alternated so something can probably fit your schedule, and it isn't too expensive either. There is also the option of having a personal trainer, if that floats your boat. Aside from the exercise stuff, they also offer craniosacral therapy, as well as A.R.T. & soft tissue and massage therapy. If you're in need of some TLC, this is the place to go. If you're not really after the work-out or therapy, they also specialize in holistic nutrition. Someone will actually sit down with you and plan out a food map that is all natural and healthy. So, which of those three things suits you? I'm sure there's something...

Great gym on 14th Street near Kensington…read more I've been a member since the beginning and I've tried some classes and personal training sessions. The classes are good, especially pilates! I love my trainer Wendy... she's a machine! The equipment is great, and machines feel high end. Plus, from what I have seen so far, there is a minimal amount of douchy gym rats there! ;) Very nice change rooms and a couple of large showers. I guess the only down side is the size of the classroom, which limits the number of people who can take the classes. I see that as a good thing, because I prefer smaller classes, but it may get crowded.

I find the classes to be both challenging and fun-often a difficult mix to find. The instructors are knowledgeable and are great at successfully running classes with a range of fitness levels. They are careful to make sure they are aware of any health concerns and are able to offer suitable modifications to just about every exercise. They keep the workouts different enough that you dont get bored but there is enough routine you can feel where you've made improvements. I like that they create an environment that is more encouraging than competitive-I've been to other bootcamps where you are made to feel bad if your fitness level isn't yet what some of the others in the class are at. I recently decided to become a full fledged customer and I am impressed with how quickly they responded to my questions about schedule and price. I don't live overly close to where they hold classes but to me they are totally worth the drive. Oh and you'll see the results too! I think they offer some other classes to like Bridal bootcamp and mom & baby related classes.

I could not locate ITTA in the business directory *** I signed up for a one-on-one Restricted and Non-Restricted PAL (Possession and Acquisition License) course offered by ITTA. My one-on-one training was delivered by Orlando Mancina, the Founder and Training Director at ITTA. Without question, ITTA (and Orlando himself) went above and beyond and far exceeded my expectations. Being a female and a novice with firearms, PAL certification and hands-on training can be intimidating. I found Orlando to be very personable, respectful, relaxed and ethical. Despite decades of international experience and being a respected expert, Orlando did a phenomenal job of making me feel relaxed and comfortable in handling various types of firearms, "demystifying" them and making them approachable, while emphasizing safety and teaching me an appreciation for the dangers associated with firearms - in essence, very balanced instruction. The ITTA facility itself is welcoming, professional and orderly (though rumour has it, ITTA/Ninpo will be building a brand new, larger facility in the next year or so). Kindly ask to see the office - a beautiful collection of Ninjutsu and Kenjutsu regalia. If you have not viewed it yet, I would encourage you to visit the ITTA website (http://www.ittacanada.com/); it is informative, well designed, easy to navigate, and has some great photos! Be sure to check out the instructors' credentials - it is an impressive team. THE BOTTOM LINE: I would highly recommend ITTA to anyone, but particularly to women. While ITTA offers advanced instruction (such as Close Quarter Combat) in addition to the PAL, Orlando (and I suspect the rest of the team as well) is very respectful, humble and relaxed. If anything, women (and men alike!) will feel empowered and be equipped with the right theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience to be a responsible firearm user. I am now a lifetime client, and will definitely return for additional classes.

During Covid I started homeschooling my kids. I quickly stopped making fitness a priority. I had been wresting with getting back to a gym when management reached out about coming back to try a class. All it took was one class - I forgot how much I loved it! A gal recently asked me why I returned, and I told her that I was now the slowest, weakest, and fattest I've been in years, so I decided to return to the place that I know gets the job done!
