I needed to update professional headshots and got the package with makeup (well-worth it and a must-have I think) with Janelle as the make-up artist and Samantha as the photographer- a superstar team. Samantha was excellent, experienced, fast, and knew exactly what would look good on camera and captured everything I could ask for. Janelle did amazing makeup and was exceptional, making me feel very comfortable and listening closely to what I was hoping for and helped a lot with optimal styling of hair, makeup, etc. This is my third time to return to City Headshots...with the first two times working with Martin about 10 years ago. They have been really excellent all three times, and I would definitely go back again. The booking process and early communications are automated and streamlined. The experience in person is very tailored and personalized and the studio space in Midtown is easy to get to and has a nice comfortable waiting room. I feel like the photos really captured my authentic sense of self in a way that was both elevated and natural. So appreciative. I would return again without hesitation. Thank you!

She was warm, fun to talk to, and really took the time to make sure I was completely happy with the photos before we finished. The studio was very well prepared, with plenty of space and lots of items available for touch-ups in case you forgot anything. Online booking was extremely straightforward, and the final gallery was comprehensive, easy to navigate, and simple to download from. My only criticism is the pricing structure around retouching. I did the most basic package, and while I understand that retouching is an add-on, I think including one lightly retouched final image would make the package feel a little more complete at that price point. That said, I'm really glad I decided to do this. The photos came out beautifully, the experience was excellent from start to finish, and I would absolutely come back again. Highly recommend Rishika.

We saw a sample of Spike's work through a friend's friend and contacted him right away. He was really responsive and transparent. We asked for samples of his work and he delivered. We asked for meetings, he met with us. He had been great throughout. We are an interracial couple so on the wedding day, we did ceremonies from both sides on ONE day. They worked non-stop that day and we really appreciated that. We had a really packed agenda for the ceremonies and the reception. Spike and his team were really patient and kind to everyone. He was also really funny because we're not the best with poses. Because it was wedding season, we didn't get our pictures until a month after but it was okay! We loved the highlight video, the full video, and all the pictures that were taken. We would definitely recommend him to whoever is searching for a photographer/videographer.

I have to say, working in film out here in the nyc for a number of years, this is the first time…read moreI've ever had such a terrible experience dealing with a place that I've been compelled to write one these reviews. I randomly came across Lighthouse while doing an internet search for renting a Glidecam camera rig and my interest was peaked by their low rates. Naturally, having never heard of or rented from them before, I gave a call just to get a lay of the land, see how they work. I was somewhat dumbfounded when the guy who spoke to me was belligerent almost from the get go (turns out, unbelievably, he was one of the owners of the place, his name was Thibault.) Asking normal professional questions - I was either cut off or spoken over, the guy telling me multiple times that he "didn't need to explain how he did business". Umm, not the best way to address a potential client. These are all very bad signs and despite all the other reviews here I would steer very clear. I wanted to write this as a warning for others. A rental house that is not professional will bite you in the behind in the long run. AVOID.

When I was shopping around to look for a 5D Mark II to rent back in September, I couldn't believe…read moreat how much some outfits were charging for a 4 year old camera body. I went and checked out all the usual big names (Adorama, CSI, foto care), but I felt as though I should be able to get more for my money. That, combined with the motivation from having a tight production budget (understatement of the century) lead me to stumbling upon Lighthouse. I will admit that I was initially skeptical about getting a 5D (from a shop I've never heard of) with a 32GB CF card when other companies were charging the same, or much more, for only a 8GB card. But in the end, I had no choice. All the other outfits had either rented out the 5D already, or the cost was too hard to justify. So I went ahead and set up an account with them, and came in the next day to pick up the 5D along with a shotgun mic, tripod, light, and light stand. I could not have been happier with the customer service. Thibaut was very patient with me as I threw a ton of questions at him on how to maximize the production quality on such a small budget. I think I actually like that Lighthouse is still relatively unknown amongst the other camera rental shops since I would have never been able to get a 5D on such short notice otherwise. But all good things come to an end I suppose. If you're reading this, then you're most likely debating to rent from them or not, but with their competitive prices and their healthy supply of equipment, how could you not?** ** Unless, of course, you're a Nikon fanboy like I am :). Unfortunately, this is purely a Canon shop as far as DSLRs go.

We have been hosting this annual event since 2008, and while it is true, no place is ever absolutely perfect (nor does it really have to be) - this place totally rocked. Large. Spacious. Clean. White walls (great for photos and videos). Bright. He took the time to understand what we were looking for and really cared about delivering something we would cherish. On our big day he went above and beyond when our plan to capture the sound from our officiant's lav mic didn't go as planned and our vows didn't come through clearly. We only had booked him for an hour to film the ceremony as we were on a tight budget, but he offered to stay and re-record our vows, which I'm so glad we did - he did a ton of extra editing work to meticulously dub the sound over and even added some beautiful and tasteful artistic touches like adding our recessional song to the end which was a really thoughtful addition. Given that we had originally asked him to only deliver raw footage, he definitely went above and beyond (and never asked for a penny more than the original quote)!!
