This is only a pain management group that knows nothing about healing spines!…read more I too, waited almost two hours for Brittany to tell me that back discs don't heal even after I told her I healed after a similar injury 20 years ago. She still said that discs will not heal and I would need surgery. These folks only recommend drugs and surgery. Even the surgeon said that 80% of people with pinched nerves heal, but only after I said I wanted to delay surgery! I researched my problem and healed my back without surgery and without any help from any of the 3 clinics I visited. Healing frequencies, copper, peptides, nontraditional PT, inversion table and more. Learn about the Flexner report and how JP Morgan and Andrew Carnegie used a bogus report to convince congress to defund 80% of medical schools. I saw Brittney..she seemed thorough but then said I had to start with injections..that would be scheduled 3 weeks out as doctor would be out of town. That they would not prescribe pain medication and at first visit I had to pee in a cup. They treated me like a drug addict. I am looking at 4 different surgeries in the near future...I threw the cup to urinate in out..told them I would not be needing their services and left. If you a looking for pain management I would suggest going elsewhere.

I was a patient here for 3 years when they suddenly started drug-testing me at every single…read moreappointment. After the third time, I asked why and was told, "We test all psychiatric patients monthly." I was flabbergasted. WHAT??! He repeated it's standard practice and "for your 'protection'." (???) I am not, nor have I ever been, a psych patient and am not mentally ill. He smiled and said he didn't say I was mentally ill, but "you are currently in counseling for depression and it's our policy." I don't see ANY other kind of doctor except my regular GP once a year. He tilted his head, gave a condescending smile, and said my file showed I'm being treated for depression by a Dr. Mary Something! I'm not depressed and have never heard of this doctor. He got more condrscending and repeated it was in my file to everything I said. I was very careful to be polite and not shout. There's a mistake somewhere - probably a misfiling. I asked him to PLEASE call that doctor, because they'll verify they've never heard of me, either. He said he "didn't need to" because it was in my patient file and his office doesn't make mistakes like that. I begged him to PLEASE do a complete search of my medical records (isn't every piece of health history online now?!). Please call and I'll fill out a HIPPA release form right now. He made a very pained face and said he'd ask, but didn't think the office would do it. I reminded him this is a serious mistake that could affect treatment I get from other doctors or my ability to get jobs. I thanked him for asking medical records and said okay, let's do this drug-test and screening bullshit until your office verifies with the psych doc and removes the error. He gave me his usual polite farewell and said he'd see me next month. The office scheduled my next appointment and faxed my script. When I picked up my RX there were only 7 pills! I called the office and was told it was correct - a "weaning off" dose is all they give discharged patients. WHAT??? The person on the other end delivered a lecture about refusing to take drug tests (which, again, I DID), lying about my medical history and "being abusive" to the doctor. I was stunned! I explained the situation (kept interrupting with "it's in your file, ma'am") and claimed I "cussed out" my doctor. (The single bullshit, I guess) I pointed out I'm a severe chronic pain patient. She said "this is what happens when you 'disrespect' us." in a very smug tone. I spoke to the director and got the same. How much trouble is it to make a phone call? I was not only wrongfully discharged; they decided to get even by refusing me a month's worth of meds while I found a new doc. All over their mistake. It took over a month to get an appointment for a new pain clinic. I spent days in bed, curled up in agony, at times praying to just please let me die. How can doctors who vow to do no harm do this to another human being? How can a records clerk be too dishonest and self-centered to admit to a filing error? As if all this weren't enough, they told the new clinic I lie about my medical history, am verbally abusive etc etc. I had to explain all over again and ask them to please call whatever practice Wake Spine & Pain thinks I see. Now I never go to medical appointments alone because of what Wake Spine & Pain did. I want a witness. No matter how long you've been a cooperative patient, you won't be believed. If Wake Spine & Pain makes a mistake, you're helpless, because they never make them. If you want professional, caring treatment, NEVER come here!

I have been seeing Dr. Jack Lam with Rex Pain Management for just over a year. In 2017, I had…read morepost-op hernia pain that Dr Lam was treating by administering injections. At first, I doubted it would help at all, but by the third injection (3 months apart each) the pain is nearly nonexistent. Then, after a car accident mid-2018, I went back to see Dr Lam for spinal pain. I've only had one epidural with Dr Lam since then (Nov 2018), but his technique and results were phenomenal! Prior to seeing Dr Lam, I had previously been seen by Duke Pain and was prescribed extremely high doses of pain medication for a pre-existing condition and it took months to wean off all the opiates. (I purposely chose to wean off the opiates as the long term use kept life from being enjoyable. Life just becomes numb.) I was worried that Dr Lam would just write for more pills and send me on my way, but this is not his philosophy. He is conservative in his treatment algorithms, yet remains thorough, thoughtful and *gasp* he actually listens to his patients. Dr Lam treated me like an individual patient with unique needs, not just throwing the same treatments at each patient. I was most appreciative of the fact that he recommended several options for helping to manage my pain without writing a prescription for opiates. This is how medicine should be routinely practiced! Also, staff is always polite, professional and is respectful of my time when I've visited the office for appointments or procedures. If you want a pain management provider that will look you in the eye while you're speaking, will actively listen to your concerns and needs, and is highly experienced with providing conservative, yet effective, treatments for your pain, please consider making an appointment with Dr Lam. He's worth every minute of your time to meet him and see if he can help you, too.

They used to be very good but this Dr. Shaw I'm sorry but I don't want anything to do with him. I very much like Dr. Stephen Peterson, my…read moreprimary care physician from this practice, but I have now had 3 separate issues with their billing department. 1. I was charged for a full 30+ minute visit ($255) for what was actually a virtual Covid diagnosis call, which should have been something like $25 as advertised at their office. This happened 10 months ago and I am still getting the run around from their billing department. I spoke to someone months ago who said she was looking into it and has never called me back. Their outgoing voice mail says they will return voice messages within 24 hours. They have not once called me back after 3 or 4 follow-up inquiries. 2. They charge a higher amount for 30 minutes-or-less visit, as they do for a 31-to-40 minute visit. If I schedule a 30 minute visit, and it happens to go over by a minute or two, I don't think it's my responsibility to watch the clock. I find it dishonest to let the appointment run over and then charge me more. The efficiency of the office flow should be on them, not the patient. I am not a difficult patient who sticks around and asks multiple extra questions. This happened on a different office visit than the Covid call mentioned above. Strike 2. 3. I just got charged a $25 appointment cancelation fee for a recent appointment I had to miss due to showing Covid symptoms. From my point of view, I didn't cancel the appointment -- they did! Of course, no once answers when you try to call and discuss (see point 1). 3 strikes, time to move on to someone else.
