We were here during the World Cup festivities. We took the SkyTrain from Richmond all the way downtown. The train was packed with fans on their way to watch parties. Vancouver should really celebrate their transportation/urban planners. They had already implemented their Tap and Pay system years before our region decided to do it. Vancouver also has fare gates at their stations whereas our region doesn't have any fare gates except for the Seattle Center Monorail. The Vancouver City Centre Station was pretty clean. We didn't encounter any smelly people, tweakers, or sleepers on the Canada Line.

I decided to try it out on my way back to the airport and I'm so glad I did. It was as easy as scanning my credit card at the gate, getting on the correct train. This is an elevated station that is located above street level so you will need to take an escalator or elevator to get to the platform. If you are heading to Chinatown, this stop may be closer for you than the following stop, Stadium-Chinatown. That stop seems farther away to Chinatown as it is closer to where the T&T Supermarket is. If you have just arrived into town at Pacific Central Station, I would suggest taking a train here if you are heading into downtown Vancouver. There are a few buses on the street here, but if you are not familiar with the area, the train is the easiest way to go.

They've renovated the station in recent years to include more escalators, which drastically improves the pedestrian flow. However, the really not-so-good part is that they didn't reconnect the sky bridge that used to link the station with Metropolis. Heard it was some dispute between the City and the owners of Metropolis. Now everyone is forced to cross Central at street level, which makes life a lot more difficult. Knock 1 star off.

There was a pretty good rebuild between 2015 and 2018 that improved capacity and the flow of passengers due to the shopping centers and multi-story living buildings that were added to the neighborhood. According to metrics, it is the second most busy terminal on the entire SkyTrain network. The station is handicapped accessible with lift and escalators. There is also a pedestrian bridge across the road that leads to the bus terminal and shopping. Above ground station on the Canada Line of the Vancouver train system, this one is right next to…read morethe Lansdowne shopping center and is a block from my hotel. There are automated ticket vending machines and turnstiles as well as escalators and an elevator from the street level to the train platform level. The station is in Zone 2. It is the next-to-last stop on the Richmond-Brighouse fork of the Canada Line. The next inbound station is Aberdeen towards waterfront. There are display screens noting the next arrival and an overhead announcement too. I would imagine that it gets quite cold on that platform in the winter, but my visit in summertime was just fine.

It is named after the nearby shopping mall, Aberdeen Centre. The location of this station is convenient as it convenient to numerous Asian shopping malls in the area. In addition to the aforementioned Aberdeen Centre, it is within walking distance of Yaohan Centre, President Plaza and Parker Place. If you are looking for good Chinese food, you will find plenty of it in the vicinity of this station. On my last trip to Richmond, I ended up using this station the most. The hotel (Pacific Gateway) in Richmond I was staying at had an airport shuttle, but didn't have one for Richmond. So I ended up walking to and from here quite often when I wanted to head north to Vancouver. While I would have liked this station to have been closer, it was still within reasonable walking distance and it was only about a 20 minute walk. The waiting times at this station are a bit longer than at the previous station (Bridgeport) because the southbound Canada Line splits off with one part headed to this station, while the other one is YVR bound. Still the waiting time during the daytime is 6 minutes at the most which seems reasonable. If you need to get to and from Richmond's Golden Village from downtown Vancouver, I would recommend taking a SkyTrain to this station as it is convenient and has frequent train service.
