My telephone enquiry was dealt with speedily and on my arrival a few hours later (I dont live particularly close) I was greeted by someone in the know and was able to leave my car for inspection regarding the problem. I spent an hour or so enjoying lunch in town to then receive a call with both an update and a time to pick up my car. The cost, time and service were outstanding! I would thoroughly recommend this team, they are all very friendly and certainly the impression I got watching them speaking with other customers is that this level of customer service is the norm, how lucky for us all. Muna (owner) undertook the below with care and professionalism: * switched my front tyres to the rear * sandblasted the old rear rims as they had rust, to remove said rust * bead sealed them * balanced the wheels * put the new tyres on the front. All of the above was done in a genuinely friendly manner. Muna talked me through what he was doing at each stage in easy to understand terms which helped me to comprehend. He also provided advice on a number of other matters. I was talking to Muna throughout as he had lots of tips and advice. AMS Motors is a family business (three generations) that has been operating for over 40 years. Even though I got there at 9am, I witnessed a lot of repeat customers coming in which demonstrates the trust, brand loyalty and experience they have built up. When I made the booking, the owner assured me they would carry out proper due diligence and identify the root cause of the issue. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of that expectation. After a few hours, I was told the "diagnostic" had been done using a diagnostic machine only, with no meaningful additional investigation. There was no visual inspection, no deeper fault-finding, and no attempt to properly validate the issue. They simply repeated the same fault code information I was already aware of. Based on this very superficial check, they quickly recommended a major and expensive repair -- without demonstrating any thorough analysis to justify it. When I asked reasonable questions to understand their process and reasoning, I was met with a rude and dismissive attitude rather than a professional explanation. What's most disappointing is not just the lack of diagnosis, but the lack of honesty and professionalism. If the garage does not have the expertise, time, or willingness to properly diagnose a vehicle, it would be far more professional to say so upfront rather than provide a costly recommendation based on a basic scan. I trusted them to treat both the job and me as a customer with professionalism and respect. Instead, I received neither. I would not return to this garage and would not trust their diagnostic conclusions.
