This park is located on the East side of John Wayne Parkway, South of downtown Maricopa. Been here many times for soccer tournaments and some 7v7 football. They have some great grass fields, no turf. There are also basketball courts, baseball fields, and clean bathrooms. There is a dog park which got relocated to near the fishing pond instead of behind the LaQuinta hotel. The still "newish" location was great as they played host for our team's swim meet for the 2nd straight year. Staff members around the facilitie,s along with the cleanliness of the pool locker rooms, were great. The only downside we had was that we picked up the smell of sewage due to all the recent rains we had, so I believe that had a lot to contribute to it. It was only when the wind would blow strongly but I think after 15 mins we were used to it. Other than that, navigating into the venue was straightforward... however, there's one intersection that could use a stop sign to help alleviate backup coming from the venue trying to get out. We were stuck in that for a while with cars lined up making a left & other cars turning right at our intersection. read more

Not a good place for swim lessons for kids. They do not engage with the kids in a way to keep their attention so they are bored and not interested . The organization is not there nor is the communication for where to go where classes start. The information says to go to aquatics but you have to go to the gym entrance. Not customer friendly. The instructors do not greet the students and their parents and pretty much don't acknowledge their existence. I would not recommend the children's swim lesson class to anyone. What an place to go almost a catch all for the community. New to the area but there is so much positive to say about everything this facility offers. Great value for the price lots of options for all and a ton of parking. But what I don't like. I don't like they don't have a time for adults only for the pool. Like seriously adults might want time by the pool during day or evening for adults only. Secondly a lot of the people in the community can't afford the price and some kids may not be able to participate in sports or activities due to limited finances. Is there really no scholarships? Also we have people in the community who maybe able to volunteer or help out to assist with the socializing and reducing stigma to others. I know you can possibly volunteer but I'd like to see more inclusion for all. But love the gym and love the adult exercise groups but serious M-F 830-930 so what about the working people no evening or early morning or weekend adult workouts. Shame on you! Lastly Suzy is great with the instruction for the aqua exercise classes for adults but I did notice a lot of people look lost during the class, she's not really vocal but visual. Some people need visual and audio instructions, but as long as your moving is the key right. I do enjoy the class but seriously I have to either go to work late to attend or work a split shift. Great place. Nice equipment. Def pay attention to busy times in the gym. Great outdoor facilities and dog area. Watch out for these two though, they are know as machine hoggers. They stay on the cable machine for an hour ( yes timed them) grandma stands guard in case he goes to use another machine. Everyone shares but these two. Maybe if he worked a leg day from time to time but from the looks of his legs all he does is shoulders and chest everyday. Spoke to staff but they won't do anything. Amazing facility for an amazing price. The outdoor amenities from all of the sports fields, to the pond, the parks, and the dog park are all kept clean and beautiful. This review is just for the aquatic center. Med sized city pool with a large splash pad, water slide, whirlpool and lazy river. Also a couple diving boards. It's brand new so the facility is very nice. Today is the grand opening and it's not even that crowded so that's nice. It'll probably be a mad house during the summer as it's not very big. It's free with a rec center pass which is likely a vastly better deal than a day pass. Day passes are overpriced compared to other city pools, at $4 adults, $2 kids. That's double the price you'll pay at any other city pools. You can rent swim vests for your little ones. Fyi...there's practically NO shade. Not that many seats either. There's a small area in the middle with shade and seating, then you have to take refuge on the perimeter of the building. Bring your own umbrella and seat. read more

Building is a nice edition to Maricopa. They have exercise equipment, basket ball court, pool, rooms available for parties or meetings. Skate park out side of nice and the best part is the beautiful lake they have. You can fish or just walk around the lake. They have a nice playground for the kids to play and a covered patio area with picnic tables. read more

My favorite place to take the kids out and cool off. The only downfall with this place is that nasty pink concession stand, they are rude over priced and totally rip off kids out of their money. My son and his friend went over to buy hot dogs (disgusting by the way) and when they added the total it was a few dollars more but luckily these kids are great at math and said wait a minute!! And the rude lady was still trying to rip them off until I got there, then she was giving them the right total like nothing was wrong. As much as I love copper sky they need to make the upstairs open to 13 year olds. My kids weren't able to workout anywhere in Maricopa all they wanted to do was run around the track yet they didn't let them we aren't able to afford any equipment because of there sports but it is not ok that My children weren't able to workout with proper equipment they were so sad they have to wait until they are 16 to even go upstairs and that has to be with a parent I wish they would update this so kids like my children are able to go workout with proper equipment read more

Great place for a growing community. My son takes swimming lessons and other activities. My teenage daughter meets with her friends here at pool for only $2 for the day. Too expensive. The options for membership are awful. If they did a punch card type of membership you could get more for your money, only paying for they days you go. Going once in a while and paying for the day is expensive as well. Being in Maricopa sucks bad enough being so far away from any other options for a gym. Charging so harshly to use the facility is just abusive to the residents that live here. No one can seriously go to the gym every day of the month to get their monies worth. The kids splash area isn't even fully useful. So many of the structures are broken. Makes you question what are they using all our membership money on! Major improvements are needed. Well I hate to review bad for our communities recreational sites but here it goes..... Jules is an office manager who has 0 customer service skills. DO NOT GET A MEMBERSHIP...I have been a long time member and for the first time in forever want to take my 2 year old nephew to go stand in the splash pad for 20 minutes before the pool closed and Jules is demanding I pay $8 for the kid to go stand in the water. It gets better .... she then followed with telling his grandma who wanted to go sit and take pictures of him splashing for a few minutes an additional $10 to watch him. When I questioned it I was immediately told by Jules "Well I am the manager and I am saying that" she is the shift leader not a manger and the disrespect and attitude was like I was back in high school. I cancelled my membership as well as I have reached out to the GM as well as city council will also be notified about their hiring decisions as well as compensation for the employees so they can show up and have a positive attitude. Go to the AK-Chin they have cleaner facilities, happier employees, as well as for people with children they are very child friendly. read more

I had my first workout with a trainer last week, and have to admit that Aya was fantastic! She is very enthusiastic, engaging and somehow made the the new exercises fun. I found myself not wanting to stop as she kept challenging me with new exercises. She also displayed a genuine concern for my well-being - and never seemed to mind about how much whining I was doing! It appears that everyone who lives in the city has a membership here. Gym is always crowded. The pool is always crowded. I pay all this money, but can never utilize the facility...because it's crowded. At this point, I rather drive all the way to Chandler it Ahwahtukee to get a decent workout in. I've only kept my membership this long because the facility is less than 5 minutes from my subdivision. If you have kids and need a cheap sitter, you can drop them off here. Numerous classes have been cancelled which was the only reason I signed up. Now I'm stuck in a year contract. The pool hours are horrible, closed during a block of the day. Even though you hold a membership you still aren't allowed access, it's also summer time in AZ so this is just ridiculous. Some of the times you have to park in the aquatic center parking lot and have to use that bathroom. Again, I paid for the gym membership which allows pool access from the gym. The one class they had was early in the am for swim classes. The water, though they said was heated was cold and my baby was shivering. There was also too many kids and did not go back. The hours have gotten a little better but seems like they could be open more on the weekends and holidays. They have less group classes then when I signed up. They have a variety of classes you need to pay extra for, which I think is ridiculous. But they give you a discount if you get a year membership, hence why I signed up for a year. Then they go ahead and cancel those classes and you are locked in. Shady. The management is extremely poor there. read more

The temperature in the place is ridiculous. It is so hot on the main floor & even hotter upstairs. What gives?! A place where you exercise & it is stifling hot. We asked to have the temperature lowered & they said they have to get someone in. A facility of that size & they don't have maintenance staff who can lower the temperature?!! I am so thrilled about this recreation center and all of the activities it offers the community. From all of the sports you can enroll your children in, to their wonderful acquatic center and gym. I've enrolled my kids in numerous sports through Copper Sky and they have awesome coaches that help build up your child's self-esteem. You always have to wait to get a machine because there is literally one type of machine for each type of exercise i.e. 1 barbell curl machine and that's it, 1 pulldown machine and that's it. They have a full size basketball court but it is ALWAYS half closed for some silly activity so if more than 3 people want to play, they are SOL. Countless times me and my friends have all asked for them to change the basketball nets because they are too small for some balls and they get stuck in the nets but that would actually take some effort of customer service on their part. And that isn't going to happen! Don't waste your time. read more

I have a membership for my entire family of 4 that lasts a year and cost me around $700. Most of the staff are decent but there are quite a few that are rude and have no customer service experience at all. Our child is on the swim team through Copper Sky and the instructors are not rude but very stoic and not out going. The gym staff does nothing but stand behind the desk and watch videos and look at Youtube videos on the computer. I have seen multiple people get yelled at because they "dropped" the free weights and the offices are located below that area. First, setting weights down lightly leads to injury depending on the exercise your doing. Secondly, it sounds like they designed the location of the gym and offices horribly. The facilities are nice being that they are new but with the staffs attitude and lack of customer service it makes it not worth going to. There are better recreational centers for the money. My wife takes the classes in the afternoon and says the class instructors are awesome. The pool area is nice as well but does lack shade for the majority of the area considering its the only pool in the Maricopa that is accessable to everyone. I recommend just getting day passes or not attending at all. Unless management makes a turnaround on the staff and breeds an environment of customer service, I will not be renewing my membership. read more
