We decided to stop in with the entire family, including our kids on our way home to Iowa from Minnesota. You will find many trinkets, gifts, souvenirs and toys at this popular road side attraction. As they say " there is something for everyone" The shop is filled from top to bottom with "stuff" Nothing I needed to buy, haha, but the kids definitely find it exciting. We have driven by it for many years so it was interesting to see what this place was all about. My boys left with a toy gun, a pirate parrot that sits on your shoulder and pirate treasures. Gopher Bargain Center is part flea market, part unclaimed freight, part antique shop, part furniture store, and part complete randomness. Lawn mowers, fishing gear, bedroom sets, hot tub, flour, drain cleaner, cards, cookware, toaster ovens, Eggo waffles in strangely damaged boxes, a wrench big enough to undo the nut on the bolt that holds planet Earth together. These are merely the beginning of the delights found within this building. A trip inside will make you smile at the complete randomness of it all. Bathroom and kitchen fixtures, including the kitchen sink. You might, with enough imagination, be able to build and fully equip and furnish an entire house with the items in this store. That statement, though true at the writing of this review, may well change drastically as early as tomorrow. The Carnivore understands that there is an activity known as "scrapbooking," which he does not understand, but acknowledges the existence of. He is still stunned at the magnitude of items available at this establishment for this purpose. He figures that putting snips of things in a book pales in comparison to putting a steak in his belly, but to each, his own. There are curious smells in various parts of the store, too. some food-like, some solvent-like, some of completely unknown origins. All kidding aside, I promise you there is something here you want, or maybe even need. The entertainment value of wandering around and occasionally saying "What the hell?!?!" is worth a couple hours of your time. You just need to come here and walk around until you find it. As a side note, I believe in my heart that there are no more 75 watt incandescent light bulbs left in the store. I could, however, be wrong. Give it a try, but I would definitely be cautious about food items that are not obviously sealed, and even those, I would definitely wash the exterior of before opening. It was a Saturday morning so I made a large tumbler full of iced coffee before I hit the road. About an hour into the drive my bladder decided to go ding ding ding. I knew Milaca Unclaimed Freight was just ahead so I thought I'd stop in to use the restroom. Biggest mistake of the day! After using the restroom I decided to walk up and down the aisles. And boy did they have deals. I happened to be in the holiday home decor section and my hands were full. There was a lady standing next to me and I mentioned to her that I should have grabbed a cart. She responded with "you always grab a cart". So I went and grabbed a cart and put my selections in the basket. I kept running into her in the other aisles. And every time I saw her she was interested in what I added to the basket. She was fun, nice lady. I got stuff for the house. I got stuff for work. And I guess I started my Christmas shopping today too. The grand total was just under $200. That was an expensive rest stop. Dang coffee bladder!

This is an average antique, vintage, collectibles mall - 3 stars…read more My first (and only) visit: this place is pretty mediocre by my tastes. The first floor is - about - half vintage stuff and half modern collectibles & nick knacks. Of course, they have the ever-present lame area featuring Christmas items year round...even in July. This one is right in front. I don't know why I always seem to find these areas in antique/vintage shops but it seems ubiquitous - I can't seem to escape it! I HAVE seen shops with very cool, legitimately antique Christmas items. But sadly, that's not the case here. The basement is mostly real legitimate antiques. There were far more interesting pieces down there. But nothing really knocked my socks off. On the other hand, on the positive side, nothing was very expensive either. You won't break the bank shopping here. I don't know why I have a fondness for those 22" antique framed photos in oval frames with bubble glass but I find them fascinating. I saw several cool ones downstairs and they were only in the 50 buck range. I usually see price tags of 100 dollars (and up) for these things, depending on the photo. On the day of my visit, the customer service was pretty pathetic and non-existent. I counted 5 people behind the counter and one old timer (customer?) leaning on the counter, talking everyone's ear off. No one could be bothered to greet me or ask if they could help me to find anything. I even interrupted them to ask a question, and I still had to wait & they all acted like I was bothering them. Yet, my pocket was full of cash. Oh, well. I left empty handed and underwhelmed. I might have...might have...bumped them to 4 stars if the customer service was awesome.
