Lately, though, it's clear that whatever made this place special has been pushed aside, if not completely forgotten. The sudden disappearance of your bartenders is baffling. Turnover is normal in a college town, sure, but this wasn't a natural shift, it feels like a purge. The heart and personality of the place left with them. What's left behind feels generic, transactional, and hollow. Then there's the decision to go cashless. I'm not sure who thought that was a good idea, but it's incredibly tone-deaf. It's inconvenient, exclusionary, and says more about your priorities than you probably realize. For a place that used to feel local and grounded, it now feels like it's trying to be something it's not, and failing. Willie's had something rare, real character, built over decades. Watching it unravel this quickly is disappointing, to say the least. We won't be back, and that's not something we say lightly. Good luck, truly. But maybe think about what made people come here in the first place. And who.

Oh my God. I had my first clubbing experience here when I was 19, going to school at OSU - I'm not…read moresure if it was fall semester of '06 or spring of '07 but wow, what a horrible experience. Everyone knows the Tumbleweed or "The Weed" as people call it. Heck, my parents used to go here when they were in college. Apparently it was bumpin' back then. Not so much now. Even though my experience happened like... four years ago, I still remember it like it was yesterday. A big group of girls from floor 3 of Village C (the journalism floor) headed on out here to go club. I think all of us had, well, never been clubbing before and well, what were we expecting in the middle of nowheresville Oklahoma? My then-friend, a Chicago girl by the name of Carolyn S. came with me and we were horrified when we walked in after giving the bouncer $7 each, to get in. We walked inside to see the bouncers carrying a girl, like a baby, out of the club. I don't know if she had been on E or was just that ridiculously drunk. I can still see her head flopped back in my mind. Scary. Well, now that that was over, we walked into a completely smoke filled room - picture the bar from the movie My Cousin Vinny and this is what it looked like. Smoke so thick you could cut it with a knife and pool tables everywhere. Ugh. The dance floor was teeny tiny, filled with only girls and I was not having it when some girl on my floor trying to dance up on me. I don't swing that way. I don't think there were even 5 guys sitting around the dance floor with country playing. It was really the last straw for me. After 7 minutes in that hell hole, I called up a guy who lived on my floor back at the dorms and demanded he come save Carolyn and me. Within 10 minutes of my call, I was sitting in the middle seat of his truck, with all the windows down, with him complaining how we smelled like ashtrays. NEVER AGAIN!
