    Hot Mocha

Nice local Western Montana coffee chain. My daughter and I stopped here on our way to take her to ND. We called to make sure they were open as we got close to town and a very friendly and enthusiastic young lady answered and said they were open till 7:00 (called at 5:30). I ordered the hot mocha. It was smooth and creamy and tasted delicious. My daughter had some iced fruity lotus (blue) drink which she said was better than we had at home I stopped by here again 5 days later on my return trip home and picked up another mocha and tasted just as good and this barista was also very friendly

Great pit stop for a coffee, I wanted a caramel macchiato with breve and my husband wanted a mocha triple shot. They were able to make both items and both were very good. My kid's wanted some of their muffin tops which they both said were delicious. Chocolate chip and blueberry. Nice little grab and go coffee stand. 5/5

Great drive through. Friendly service. Dog treats for the pup. Coffee is good. Tucked in off the main road so keep eyes open.

They had Oat milk for hubby, which you don't always find (alt milk options) away from Seattle. For those from the Seattle Eastside, think Mercury Coffee in terms of menu and coffee quality/sweetness, etc. service was so lovely and pleasant - I wish I caught her name! Will make a point to swing by again on our way through!

It has a local following (and ownership story), a friendly vibe, a cute logo and stand design that fits the name well, and the kind of welcoming personality that makes you smile a bit before getting back on the road. The menu is broad and should satisfy just about anyone in the car. There are numerous hot and cold coffee drinks, tea options, a wide variety of syrups, and several milk choices to accommodate different tastes and dietary preferences. Service was prompt, cheerful, and genuinely friendly. The coffee itself, however, lands closer to average for me. The drinks tend to rely more heavily on syrups and sweeteners than allowing the coffee to be the star. If you've visited places like Mercury Coffee around Seattle or Dutch Bros, you'll have a good sense of what to expect. As someone who has probably spent more time debating roast profiles than any reasonably adjusted adult should, I recognize that I may not be the ideal customer for this style of coffee stand, so take that criticism with the appropriate grain of salt. That said, context matters. For a drive-through stand in Missoula, Loose Caboose compares favorably with many similar options, and if you're willing to set aside any Seattle or San Francisco coffee snobbery, it's actually a bit above average for what it aims to be. Final Thoughts: Loose Caboose isn't a destination coffee shop that I'd build an itinerary around, but it's absolutely worth pulling over for if you're driving through town and looking for a pleasant caffeine stop. Friendly service, plenty of options, and a fun atmosphere make it an easy recommendation for road trippers. -AC

The pastry case is impressive with a huge selection of pastries, bagels, and goodies, including massive pies that are hard to resist. Coffee and tea options cover all the standard classics, plus some fun twists that keep the menu interesting. The coffee is good for the area but nothing outstanding. The space itself is large with plenty of seating options, and it never feels overly crowded, which is a big plus if you want to sit and relax for a while. Unfortunately, the service has gone downhill. The baristas used to be incredibly friendly, remembered drink orders, and made you feel genuinely welcome. Lately, it feels rushed and impersonal, like you're just being pushed through the line with little acknowledgment. The experience has been very hit or miss, which makes it hard to want to return regularly. Overall, amazing pastries and pies, solid drinks, and a great space, but the inconsistency in service is what keeps this from being a frequent stop for me anymore.

Biscuits and gravy was very disappointing: Biscuits- hard, chewy but the taste was good if that makes sense. Actually had to use my knife to cut the biscuit properly over cooked or warmed in a microwave?? For the Elk gravy- it was disgusting, there was a couple small specks of meat to be found. But it was over powering taste of onions. They should call it Onion gravy because that's all you can taste and no meat. Definitely don't not recommend the biscuit and gravy! The rest of the breakfast was fine and tasty. Coffee is very strong and bold flavor. Not for the weak of heart. A lot of people have commented on the wait time for their food. So we had about a 15 minute wait to get seated and the food took 40 minutes from the time we ordered until it arrived at the table. Will I go back? Yes I want to try some more of the food. But unless they change the biscuits and gravy don't order it.

My coffee was never refilled, nor was there an offer of a refill on my black coffee until they literally brought the check. And then, after receiving less than stellar service, when they saw that I wasn't tipping on my credit card was actually verbally scoffed at with expectation by the waitress who was processing the card to the point where it made my wife uncomfortable, and she had to tell them that there was a cash tip on the table. Had I known their behavior would continue to be so abhorrent towards their customers I wouldn't have bothered to leave a cash tip either. Unfortunately, the food is great, but the atmosphere is about as good as an outhouse in summer. As a Missoula native and longtime liquid planet customer, we won't be spending any more money with that business, or any of their other locations.
