Attached to the Military Museum, and near the Winchester Castle (that hosts the legendary Round Table), we stopped at this lunch spot for a quick bite before going back to London. I got a ham and cheese sandwich with crisps. It was very tasty, the warm, melty cheese practically making me sigh in delight and beautifully stretchy at each bite; the multigrain bread was toothsome and tasty too. I did find it amusing at how confused they were when we requested to take the food with us instead of eating there. I don't think that's very common in the UK, because they ended up having to call the manager to approve it. However, they accommodated us wonderfully, packing up the sandwich, salad, and crisps in small, neat packages for easy portability. I highly recommend this café, because they were wonderful service and the food was actually very very good. read more
