Early Saturday dinner. Arrived at about 4 o'clock with plenty of dining space. Saturday is the ribeye special, definitely worth it. Had the appetizer deviled fried eggs, which we thought were unique and good. They have a very extensive menu that I think would please everybody. Ribeye was Cook just right with loaded baked potato and a good serving of coleslaw. Bourbon sauce was served on the side, which we thought was excellent . Shelby was our server and was cordial and attentive . They also have an excellent old fashion. The worst food in town. My wife and I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. They both came out cooked to death! You couldn't chew the brown layer of overcooked chicken meat on both sides of the breasts. The bun was slathered with grease for grilling but then barley grilled at all leaving a shiny layer of grease to enjoy with your dryed out chicken. The coffee went back as I couldn't even drink it. It was that bad. The coleslaw was swimming in mayo, also not edible. Overall a disgusting meal. I left pissed off. read more

This was my husband and I's first visit to Copper Barrel. We have been hearing great things about it but have never ventured out that way. We went ahead and made a reservation about 4 days before for 6:15 on a Friday. We arrived and the place was PACKED. I was really glad that we had a reservation. We were promptly seated and given menus. We ordered drinks, they took awhile to come but we didn't really mind and again, the place was packed so I'm sure they were a bit slammed. I ordered the shrimp tacos and they were really good. My husband had some sort of a brisket sandwich or something. The food was great. To drink I had a margarita. My husband had a couple of old fashions. He said the first one was not great and watered down, but the second one was much better. We also like that it was decently priced as well. Food is above average. The service is fast and attentive. However, this is one of the loudest restaurants - no way to carry on a conversation across the table (the waitress also made an error because she couldn't hear). read more

Cute town and cute mainstreet area with a very nice restaurant! The hostess and waitress were very nice and always available. The jalopeno cream soup was delicious. The list of craft beers was quite large and varied. The street tacos were tasty and offered just the right amount of food. The lobster ravioli contained real lobster!! We ordered the Brisket Poutine , super good to share and the brisket was outstanding. For lunch we ordered a stuffed hamburger with fries. The burger was very delicious, although more on the monster size of things, glad we split it! Good to have tried it, but next time I'll go for a regular burger. For dessert we had chocolate cake and lemon cheesecake with a raspberry purée over the top. The service was great and the service was fast. Very nice atmosphere all be it a little noisy. We liked it. This was our first time at Copper Barrel on State. We were visiting friends in the area. We came on a Tuesday evening. The place wasn't very busy. We were seated promptly and Shawnna, our server, was right over taking our drink and appetizer order. For appetizers, we ordered: - Bruschetta - Fried Deviled Eggs Meals we ordered: - Lobster Ravioli and Wedge Salad - Two of us ordered the 1/2 Slab Ribs and 1/2 Chicken. One was ordered with a Wedge Salad and the other was ordered with a Side Salad with Creamy Garlic Dressing and a cup of Creamy Jalapeño Soup What we loved: - The ambiance and vibe - Our server Shawnna - very attentive and helpful - The Bruschetta - it was amazing! - The salads - loved the dressings! - The corn bread - yum - The Chicken - really good What we felt was just okay: - The Fried Deviled Eggs were just okay. I don't know what I expected but frying them didn't take them to another level in my opinion - The ribs were just okay to me. I heard so many great things about this place. None of my expectations were met. Considering the place was empty when we walked in, we expected excellent service since we were the only table. Nope. A bit slow and definitely rude. The food.. no comments. Absolutely nasty. The mac and cheese had a weird taste and wasn't even warm. The texture and consistency were so off. Best cornbread I've ever had. Service is impeccable. Ambiance is busy but comfy. You can hold a conversation and are not drowned out by noise. Great for a family dinner or date night. Took a drive west and decided to get a bite to eat. We stopped in a little town and found this place which had great reviews. They were absolutely correct. The best prime rib (served only on Sundays) and barbecued ribs which were cooked in their own smoker with their own homemade barbecue sauce were simply superb. Both dishes were incredibly moist and tender, with the meat falling off the bone on the barbecued ribs. The ribs, in particular, had a rich and smoky flavor that demonstrated expert barbecue skills. The cornbread with whole corn added a delicious twist, offering a sweet and savory contrast to the savory meats. Not to forget, the delicious jalapeño cream soup, not as hot as it sounds. Overall, it was a truly delicious dinner, and left a lasting impression. We will be back. read more

We stopped at this place while in the area and were really surprised how good the BBQ was. I had the sampler of all the smoked meats and my girl friend had the smoked salmon. Used to go to Fire Water BBQ in Geneva when I lived in the area, as well as Famous Dave's (RIP) in Algonquin with my Ex. Now that I live in Pingree Grove, I decided I'd see if there were any new places to satisfy my BBQ cravings, was originally going to go to BBQ KING but this place had the better reviews. Got the wings as an app, not much Smokey flavor or bite. Though they were on special today for half off. So that's nice. Decided to get the smokehouse combo which includes a bit of everything, can safely say not going back as the best things were the BBQ sauce and the cornbread. Talk about a let down. All the meats were pretty bland and felt like they'd been reheated rather than prepared fresh. No Smokey flavor at all. What's worse, the con included a soup and a side, and we only got 1 small coup of soup despite there being too of us? The cocktails were also pretty pricey and lacked much alcohol. Won't be going back, and don't understand all the positive reviews. Maybe we came on an off day, but you only get 1 shot at a first impression, and this one was definitely not what I was hoping it'd be at all. read more

Drinks and food are solid, and my dad would love it - they have Old Style on tap. We had fig appetizer - outstanding, great beer, great red sangria, great mule. I thoroughly enjoyed my ribs but they may have been too tender & sauced for a connoisseur, my daughter enjoyed the pulled pork but may not be smoky enough for said connoisseur and the brisket was very tender but also not smoky enough for the connoisseur. All smoked meat was very moist & tender, not smoky. Cornbread was deliciously moist, coleslaw was great as we're mashed potatoes. The only unappetizing part of the experience was FOX News on TV, we prefer dinner without politics; ESPN or Gameshow Network are always great, neutral options. read more

Another one that has been reviewed before and the review is oddly no longer there...so this review is going to be quick and to the point. The prime rib here is great. The bar is beautiful. But the last time we went there we got the smoked chicken wings. And when I tell you these were left over from a prior day, I am telling you this because they were lukewarm, soggy skin, and that "leftover" taste. They were not fresh. They could not even be bothered to throw them in a pan to crisp and heat them up well to at least give the "effort" of making them good. So for that reason, I am giving 2 stars. read more

Some prices seem fair while others do not, the prices for the Appitizers are high. We had the fried deviled eggs and the Cajun shrimp, they were delicious. The service was horrible, I'm not even going to sugar coat it. I understand if the restaurant was busy of if the waitress was training, but she didn't clear our table off after our soup and Appitizers so plates and dishes were piled up. She disappeared the whole time and didn't even run our food, I had to ask the busboy for napkins and other items. I'm usually pretty fair and able to overlook things but when your waitress was not even a waitress that's just sad. read more

We were there on a very busy Friday night with a large group of 6. The service was as good as I could expect, they were packed and very short handed. So under the circumstances they were going there best to keep up. We started with the baked corn and cheese curds, both were good, our family really loves the corn. I also got the cream of Jalapeno soup with I think I had last time, it really is like queso...it's really good. I wanted to try something different and they feature alot of smoked stuff...Brisket, Turkey, Pork. I wanted to try the smoked turkey which was fine it didnt have alot of smoke but was juicy. The coleslaw that was on the side was very good as well as the amazing cornbread. I also added some sausage on the side that I figured would be good and it sure was. Likely the best thing I ate. FAMILY FRIENDLY Service was amazing. Brought my family here for lunch and they accommodated our every need. We forgot to bring a bottle warmer and they brought us a cup of hot water to warm up the milk for our 1 month old. Food was good. Ambiance was nice. Clean, open space. We enjoyed a late-night meal at Copper Barrel on State (group of 3 people) following a goat milk soap-making class :) I thought the restaurant was very cute on the inside, very warm and inviting on a cold winter night. I chose to start with one of their holiday cocktails- it was a cranberry-themed moscow mule and it was refreshing and I loved the cranberry in it. Our server was kind and knowledgeable, the menu here is huge, and she knew a lot about all of the options. When I asked about the cocktail and what made it holiday- she found an answer right away. For my dinner, I chose from the smokehouse portion of the menu, and went with the half slab of ribs. The ribs were very tasty, I selected the salad to start (it was your basic side salad for a restaurant), and I chose the loaded baked potato as my side. The ribs and loaded potato were very good- and I also loved the cornbread that came with it. I would come back here for the cornbread alone in the future. I'm not out the Hampshire way very often, but I would absolutely come back here if I was out! read more
