Stans is a fairly popular spot with tourists, with buses of them flowing through this little, quaint, and picturesque town in the mountains. If you need to buy anything, or if you're looking for a way to kill the time while waiting for other tourists in your group, this is a decent place to be.
Firstly, the supermarket is nice, clean, and organized. It is Switzerland prices, so hey, you know what to expect.
Speaking of Switzerland prices, walking through the town, places to eat are definitely not cheap. Surprisingly, the restaurant connected to Coop had very reasonable prices for the area. I was pleasantly surprised, and the food actually tasted good (at least to us, it did). Our German abilities are very little, but we did our best to mime and point. Noticing our difficulties, the staff did their best to manage the language barrier.
It's clean and warm. It's a nice reprieve from the mountain weather, and there were quite a few locals sipping their beverage of choice. This place also had free Wifi! WiFi was fast too.
Everything combined to make an extremely pleasant stay, and easy to spend time here. I also loved the vibe, it was quiet and relaxed. People spoke in fairly hushed tones, and it was great. Very typical Swiss, in that sense. read more
