The married shop owners, Enriqio and Annarita, are so friendly and were both so patient with us. Annarita's English is good and fluent and I had to do some combination of gesturing and guessing with Enriqio. We ended up coming here three times for salami sandwiches. We told Annarita the rough specifications: focaccia, Milanese salami, a medium cheese and sun dried tomatoes, and they made it happen. It cost about the same as a subway sandwich but we felt we got so much more! Delicious and great service. We will be back!

We spent 3 weeks in this town and got to know many of the vendors and this place was, by far, such a pleasure to come and shop. The family who runs it is very accommodating, speak English ( for all the American and British travelers who come here) and carry so many authentic Italian products. We even purchased several jars of one sauce to take back to CA. One of the best parts of this place is Sunny, the young woman who works there- what a pleasant, helpful and kind person. She will make you want to come back and shop here just to have her help you. I hope she gets some credit for the good work she does there.

Most tourists come here to get food at the fraction of the cost from eating at restaurants. I was getting tired of eating Swiss food so, I went here since I know they have pretty much everything. Sandwiches, deli meats and cheeses, fresh fruits, fruit cups, fruit bowls, sushi, pastries (both sweet and savory), pizza, salads, octopus salad, shrimps, salmon tartare, Mediterranean food, Middle Eastern food, chicken breast, samosas. Pastas you can reheat. It's also a good place to get some Swiss snacks, drinks, protein bars and ice cream. I grabbed sushi, salad and chicken breast. You do have to pay for utensils. The bad: the cashier was rude and was rushing us at the self-checkout counter - nobody needs your help, nobody needs your attitude. Like if you're bored and there's nobody in line, go make yourself useful and do something else. The rice on the sushi was a lot and it was dry which made it worse. The fish was thinly sliced. We parked our car there for 3 hours, came back and didn't have enough coins to validate our parking ticket. Machine said we could use coins or notes. Notes needed to be 10 or 20 franc bills. So....we walked around looking for an ATM that allows 20 franc min to be released. Went back to machine and guess what would not except the 20 franc bill. Tried 3 machines on 3 levels with same result. Tried putting the bill in every way possible, even crinckled it up in the end to see if that would help...nope. so we had to find a place in the evening that we could get coins from, not easy in Davos after 7 pm on a Saturday. We are an hour plus into it at this point. By time we got back we owed even more! And although the coins worked be warned it has to be EXACT otherwise it won't accept the final coin. And here is the kicker. None of the machines have credit card as an option. Nearly every other place in Davos has machines that accept credit cards. Anyway wanted others to be warned because the whole experience was so frustrating for us.

This particular Migros location served as our "budget-friendly" grocery for 6 months while I lived in Lugano and attended Franklin College Switzerland. Unlike, Manor (their downtown competition- albeit, flashier), Migros offers several budget friendly stock items to make living in Switzerland possible for a poor college student and now, budget-conscious traveler. We hightailed it here upon arriving in Lugano to fill our mini kitchen with produce and regional treats like spaetzl and cheese rolled in whole walnuts. On the entry level of this grocery you'll find a bakery with beautiful pastries and prepared takeaway foods. On the basement level you'll find everything you could need in a grocery store. Two budget tips: look for items marked as "Azione" and "Budget" with green wrapping- these are the best deals? Twelve kiwi for $4? Don't mind if I do! My only complaint this round was the unfriendly woman working the bakery who made it clear she doesn't speak English even when I was using only Italian mumblings with her. Work with me a little, would ya?
