Order a glass of rosé wine and the fondue. A pot of pipping hot cheese over a flame will be delivered to your table with tiny pieces of bread and cooked potatoes for dipping. Each bite is warm, savory and comforting. For dessert, the meringues are a must. Very unique with cream as thick as butter. All of the food being served looked incredible but we were so full with the cheese and the meringue that I couldn't manage anything else.

During the day for lunch you can enjoy the sunny terrace and at night from inside there's a gorgeous view of Gstaad and the twinkling lights. Easy parking and you enter under a wooden archway and that's when the superb view hits full on. Spectacular. Fantastic service. They are famous for the local Sibebenthal beef served on a hot stone at the table. It basically cooks and sizzles as you watch it. The salad maché with fresh Perigord truffles is superb. I love the classic veal in a cream sauce with mushrooms and a perfect finely grated rösti. Amazing foie gras (they have a terrine and also a grilled version). Super wine list. It is very expensive, though. Portions are small and even basic dishes are higher priced here than many other restaurants. However the quality, service and view is superb. The restaurant is very cozy. Wonderful for a special dinner or lunch.

It was tough to wake up Saturday quite early morning but It was worth it^^ Friends chose Gstaad Lauenensee in the Swiss German speaking part because it's an easy flat land, also no climbing this time^^ We enjoyed fresh air, and juicy grassland which is indeed a basis for tasty Swiss milk, chocolate and cheese. We spent lunch time in amazing rustic Lauenensee restaurant with it's wonderful view on green relaxing landscape and mountains. Well! We ate typical Swiss mountain dishes such as "croûte au fromage" means on bread baked cheese with an fried egg. For dessert we enjoyed fresh fruit cakes with fresh cream. The waitress was very friendly. We travelled back with a special panoramic train and loved the view on mountains and at the end on big Geneva lake. The prices were on average and we decided to do more of this kind of trips in the future^^

Our host actually USLounge recommended this restaurant in particular and said it was the most traditional food in the small town. We went in for dinner and it was very busy. I highly suggest you make reservations because it's a small restaurant and fills up quickly. We managed to fit in a reservation for that night. We started with some hot wine. It was freezing outside so this drink certainly helped. The dinner menu was pretty big. I wasn't sure with what to get it what some things were so I just went with my first choice. I got the veal with veggies and potatoes. I'm not sure how exactly to explain how the veal tasted because I've had veal many times but this one was exceptional ! I highly suggest trying the veal.

Definitely Michellin/James Beard star quality- see my reviews of restaurants in Paris, New York, Hong Kong, etc. This is one that ranks amongst the best.
