Cookout is new to the neighborhood of the Temple Terrace with affordable prices for it southern cuisine. Tastes just average but the price is good. You can see many customers come in the door during lunch time. The menu includes the combo meal which is very valuable to the customer. The combo can be two sides with good choices or double up. The sides can be chicken wrap, bacon wrap corn dogs or chicken nuggets. I have never seen a side like that. Very interesting. Basically is almost double meal. With a small fees you can upgrade your drink to milk shake. I got spicy chicken with steak quesadillas as side and hush puppies. Side is good and meal just tastes ok. We do upgrade to milk shake. My wife got sandwich with coleslaw and corn dogs as side. One thing they need to improve is the parking. The lot is difficult to turn into parking space due to drive through lane. It is extremely difficult to pull your car in the parking space due to object to separate the lane. It make one lane width difficult to turn your car. read more

I went here when they first opened, which is something I never do, but I really wanted to go because I had it once while out of town and I've been waiting for one to come here ever since. Even though they were super busy, they had the perfect set up to get the line moving. I would save ever gets that busy again. If you want fried cheese cursed is better to order it inside because by the time I got my food. The cheese curds were very soft and cold. Came here for the first time and thought the burger was very fresh and tasted good. I got cheese curds as well and those were my favorite. I would next time pass on the quesadilla as it was super thin and flimsy. I loved this place and the concept of having a quesadilla as a side is so unique. Food was actually good today besides the onion ring portion size, but the logistics are terrible. One entrance completely blocked off, no parking actually on side given the two drive thru lines. Worst of all, apparently they charge for cups of water??? No where it mentioned it on the menu, only found out after ordering. Cook-out is one of those chains that has fueled many of the late night drives as they are generally open late and with what they put out your gonna get some good food for the price your wallet will love! It's all about the Tray as you get one entree and then two sides and a drink this time around I went with the double burger out west style and I must say it was rather yummy had a good taste to it like something you would make with that bbq style had some good bacon on it with some onions and pickles to set the burger vibe for what was good! The last few times I've gotten BBQ here and that really is one of my favorites too but the burger definitely hit the spot this time! For my sides I got chicken quesadillas which are actually really good like I was soo surprised the first time I got it as it feels like a BBQ restaurant made a quesadilla and that just is something you don't really see so definitely don't skip out on it as it's really good! Like honestly you also have to get their Cook-Out sauce as well it just sets the vibe for everything that you might wanna get making it that much better in its own Cook-Out way! One of the other things I've always gotten is the bacon wraps those are super yummy too bacon lettuce and ranch all wrapped up just hits the spot every time! The location just opened so the line is kinda radical and goes around the building so if your gonna come out soon definitely expect it to be a good wait we came in the afternoon and we waited about 15 minutes so it wasn't bad. Overall stoked to see them coming more into Florida it's with that I hope the next location they open is closer to Orlando because yesssss! First thing about The Cookout, it's very new here and there's a line. I ordered a hamburger with cheese, cheese bites s, onion rings and a diet coke. I did have my brother with me and he ordered a double cheeseburger with tomatoes and onions, hush puppies. Also, we both tried out the milkshakes. I guess I was very hungry that didn't realized I was eating my brother's burger which was good but my sides were in the container. Cheese bites were good. As a NC girl living in Tampa, I've been asking God for a Cook Out for the last 14 years. And the LORD FINALLY PROVIDED! So you know that I was there the opening day to celebrate my fave fast food chain finally opening a location near me. I pulled a classic large tray with double cheese quesadillas, a cheese quesadilla side, and hush puppies. I also got a milkshake (banana pudding) to-go, which I saved for later. My quesadillas were good (they needed a bit more sauce), and the hush puppies were perfectly crisp. I have been craving them for a while and was so grateful to eat some perfectly cooked ones. Service was fast and efficient, and there are a few tables. It's important to note that Cook Out has always primarily been a drive-thru place - they didn't add indoor seating options until later on into establishing themselves. So, plan to grab and go. A crappy parking lot is just a Cook Out staple. As someone who's been to many in her life, that's just how it goes - because it PACKS OUT. The restaurant opened about two weeks ago and the line outside at 1:45p was still around the building. Had to check it out. I had the regular burger with onion rings, hush puppies and a shake. My granddaughter a small burger, fries and chicken nuggets And my wife had a small burger and drink. The price was the best value I have had in years. Fast service. Don't get me wrong the food is good, however waiting in a line that wraps around the building 3 times? Not really worth it in my opinion. This newly open cookout restaurant- the building used to be Boston market which located at the corner of 56th St. and Fowler at Temple Terrace. I ordered a BBQ tray. The sandwich got good amount of pull pork, dipping in the barbecue sauce. It was delicious. I loved the corn dog which was my side dish. Coleslaw was freshly made. It tasted OK. The huge sweet tea was sweet and cold. It was a good choice for summer day. I also liked their hush puppy side dish -it got good flavor of onion and was deep fried till crunchy. The milkshake was amazing. The banana milk shake was super thick and creamy with some cooky and banana bits. It was so thick that we gave up using straw and eating it by spoon. It was such a wonderful drink/ dessert. The sitting area got hand washing station. The employee was very friendly and provided excellent services. Drive-through line was long during the lunch hour. I have tried Cook Out in other states so I was thrilled to learn they were here. I went on a Sunday at 2pm. I went through the drive-thru and it went smoothly. The line took about 20 minutes which isn't bad being that they only opened two weeks ago. I ordered the bbq chicken sandwich with cole slaw, cheddar bites and hushpuppies with a cheerwine float. The food and drinks were consistent with other states when it comes to flavor and was absolutely amazing! I am just so happy to have a location close to home. I will be visiting often! read more

Today, I stopped in to check out the newest eatery in Temple Terrace at Fowler Ave & 56th Street -- Cook Out! They've only been open a couple of days, and I wanted to see what all the hype was about their burgers and shakes. The drive‑thru wrapped completely around the building, and inside was packed. The staff was very attentive and orders served quickly! The restaurant was clean and tables cleaned after each guest. I came upon the cookout in Temple Terrace, Florida. For me, it was a whole vibe. People greeted you as you came to the restaurant directing you on how everything works. Love that. Placed my order. I just got a small value meal. With a cheeseburger fries and a shake. I got the strawberry shake, which was delicious. And I found that the fries were perfect. And I did enjoy the burger. Let me start by saying kudos to the staff who are working hard to meet consumer demand and maintain the quality of customer service. I pulled up and the line was double wrapped around the building I knew it was gonna be a wait, although this one guy infront of my car was complaining and being rude to the staff, they maintained professionalism and kept up the great work as for the food and price, great! I got a double cheeseburger meal with a side of fries and a chicken quesadilla (very different side option but was really good!!) Total i paid about 10 bucks for a fillling meal, my burger had nacho cheese and bacon which did take me by surprise, but im intrigued to try the other other options i saw on the menu The burger id rate a 8/10, cajun fries 10/10, and chicken quesadilla 10/10. 100% coming back maybe when the hype calms down a little bit lol, but i recommend folks to come check it out ! read more

Delicious food , kind staff , prepare for the weight I am from North Carolina and I know about the cookout, experience. I can tell you the difference from 2019 Atlanta visit cookout and my visit from NC You used to get five nuggets, the shake cup sizes have gotten smaller, these were not the original fries. A different flower was used that the ends had the potato peel at the top or the bottom. The fries used to be similar to five guys. The burger was still delicious. I got a double burger or a bold burger it was good. The Oreo pieces in the shake were either half or whole good size sizes and I asked for extra Oreo pieces. I was in line with the lady from DC a lady from Wisconsin and myself from North Carolina and she said what was the best thing to eat, and I said you can't go wrong with the burger and a shake. read more

In my fairest opinion. (And you all know that I take this seriously and only bring honesty). This place is decent. The food is nothing to be praised from what I tried but also nothing to be looked down at. The menu is pretty big and you have quite a selection to choose from. I brought my family plus a few friends so I had a big party and didn't take many pictures as we were kind of just having a family outing. I myself ordered the regular bacon cheeseburger. Now they have small medium and large to show what sides you can get but I opted for just the burger which was like I stated before, decent. The fries decent. My daughter had the side quesadilla which she didn't care for BUT when I took a bite wasn't too bad at all. They have a walking taco bag or something like that which my other daughter ordered and it was about a 7.5/10. Doritos with taco seasoning and ingredients in a taco chip bag. Not bad at all. Unfortunately they were out of soda so we HAD to order juice only. Now keep in mind this review is like within the two weeks that they have been open. Still working out the kinks and such. But give it a few more weeks I'm sure it will be a staple in the area. USF area is genius for this type of food! I'll def be back to try more again. Burgers were tastier than most chains. Cheap because patty size is small - less than a 1/3 lb. Ok with that and nice they do a lettuce wrap, but they forgot the lettuce and had to go back for it. The fix was fast. Tea was good and fresh. The parking lot is a disaster! I was dine in. They blocked the ADA walkway with rope. Pretty sure that is a no no. Worst part was trying to pull into a space when the "drive thru" is packed solid. Thank goodness the space next to me was empty, because a truck parked in the disabled spot took about a 20point turn to get in - and then I couldn't pull out! Had to wait for a break in the "not drive thru (but really is the go around drive thru lane)" to finagle my way out. Then got trapped trying to exit for at least 10 minutes. Be prepared for the Disney style wraparound line - even for dine in. You can enter but exiting is awful - the parking is such a nightmare I can't recommend. read more

Driving in through town, we saw the line wrapped around the building and thought, this place must be really good. We checked into our hotel, then came back to grab a quick dinner. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. After placing our order, we had to circle the building back to the beginning to get in the food line. Here on two occasions cars were allowed to cut in front of us because they appeared to know someone working there. The food didn't live up to the hype. Everything tasted like it had been cooked in old, greasy oil. I figured the grilled chicken sandwich would be a safe choice, but even that was disappointing. Everyone in our group agreed their meal wasn't very good. The only highlight was the soda it was cold and refreshing. Even with this experience, we'd still be willing to give Cook Out another try someday because we have several friends who really enjoy it. Hopefully, this visit was just an off night. read more

I'm afraid my standards are just too high. I've ate at cookout once before several years ago and it wasn't good. I figured that they may have upped their game but after today I found they didn't. Customer service was great considering how busy the new restaurant is. I ordered a Big Double Tray, needless to say it should be named micro double. It's smaller than a McDonalds double hamburger and the fries were too crispy. It's ok, I've got plenty of options but I think this place may last 2 years. I went about a month ago for the first time. I got the bun less Cajun burger with onion rings and a shake. The shake was on point and so was the chicken filet it was very large and juicy and flavorful. The onion rings were yummy as well. Today I took my sister and I was very disappointed with what I received the Cajun breast piece was dry and so thin and small it was the size of the children's small burger and they placed it on a bun even though I asked for bun less again. It had no flavor just spicy I was so disappointed and shocked on the thinness and the lack of portion, I could not enjoy it. I got a lemonade and it was so watery you could not even tell it was lemonade the onion rings were great and that hush puppies were just ok. I don't know if would got back for the chicken burgers anymore. My sister said the burger was good except the bacon was not crispy. And the majority of her sweet tea was ice and very little tea. First thing was at the drive up window one employee started to yell and curse at another right up against our car but very aggressive it was uncomfortable he wanted the guy to move out of his way but he was in the middle of helping us and cursed for him to move. Food was meh we specifically asked what came on the chicken sandwich was told lettuce tomato and mayo received literally plain chicken nothing not even a sauce. Same for our burger. Sides were disappointing compared to what I've seen online, 3 onion rings as a side? Really? A new location opened closer to us so we'll give it another try. The customer service, price, and food are all incredible. With the popularity, they have taken to walking next to your car and texting the order to workers inside; ingenious!! I have never consumed food worse than this. First, we walk in and the cashier is like "Fine, what do you want." Trying to be positive I give her my order and say thank you. Then I'm waiting but they don't give me my order number so I ask and they threw my receipt at me. Then they call my order number, and I go up to the desk and they put down my box near the back. So when I ask for it they said "get it yourself you lazy chud" so I went and got it with my feelings a little hurt. I sit down and take a bite of the fries. It tasted like straight crust from the sewer outside my house. With the consistency of play doh it was terrible. So I put them down. Then I try the chicken nugget. Imagine dropping a piece of plastic in your bathroom and having it scrubbed all over the Walmart bathroom floor. That doesn't even come close to how terrible and despicable the chicken nugget was. I was really looking forward to trying them after hearing my son rave about them in NC. Service was ok. They were really busy. Completion of the order was unacceptable. We received a bacon cheeseburger with no bacon and 4 hot dogs, Cookout style, that arrived plain in a bun. I understand mistakes happen. But, screwing up every single entree is incompetence. The worst part is that there is no number to call the location on Fowler in Tampa. So my choice is to drive an hour and sit in line in hopes the situation is reconciled, or eat the bill. I've been to this location like 4 times since it opened because it's so close to my house now, and it's just good Cookout food...
