Such a fun experience. Learned a lot from @julienapavalley. #cookingclass #napa Well worth the money. Private cooking class with Chef Julie at her home in Napa Valley. Highly personal, engaging and interactive experience. We made pasta, fish and dessert. Along the way, we asked numerous questions, about everything from terminology to sodium in salt to types of Olive oil and how to properly dice. Julie is an expert and happily shared her knowledge. All of the ingredients were high quality, including the salt and balsamic vinegar, and the fish and the pasta. Each dish was paired with a bottle of wine, and Julie even had a snack for us to enjoy while we cooked. Julie's house is lovely. We dined al fresco on her patio underneath the large oak trees. We were scheduled for 4 hours but Julie took her time with us. We ended up being there for 5 and a half hours. It was a lovely experience and one that we would highly recommend. read more

Cooking with Julie - Strawberry gelato in tuiles - Cooking Schools Near Me

We were the highest bidders at an auction for homeless animals. This bid included " Cooking with Julie." We were hesitant at first as we have been to cooking classes that did not impress. Chef Julie is pleasant, fun, professional, personable, a brilliant Chef and a master mind of Napa produce, meats, spices, wines and how to marry them all together. Would highly encourage you to include her on your next trip to Napa. Very impressed. read more

My sister and I go to Napa every February for our sister trip and wanted to attend a cooking class. We loved our day with Julie--it was much more than we expected. We learned, cooked, laughed, talked, and plan on attending another one of her classes. The recipes were delicious and she went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect! My sister and I highly recommend Cooking with Julie! read more

This was my first trip to Napa and my girlfriend and I wanted to make it an even more special trip, if possible. We booked with Julie based on some internet searches and 5 stars are not enough here, need 10! We started bright and early at the farmers market and Julie was super informative. We reviewed the menu and then gathered fresh ingredients as we toured the market. We took our food and traveled to Julie's kitchen where the magic happened. We split up into couples and each took one or two of the courses. Julie provided us with detailed guidance and explained not only how to prepare items but why! I would recommend this to anyone with a passion for cooking, or even someone who just wants to improve their skills! What an awesome experience! Thank you Julie! read more

I had so much fun in Julie's cooking classes and I learned a lot too! In the first class, we met at the Napa Farmer's Market and then walked around and chose the ingredients for the meal we were going to prepare. We also stopped at the Oxbow Market. Julie took the time to describe the different fruits and vegetables we saw. Then we went back to her beautiful home with an awesome kitchen in Napa to prepare everything. She explained and demonstrated cooking techniques. And she was very approachable, engaging and fun! After we prepared everything we sat outside and ate our meal and drank wine. It was so fun! The second class I took was to celebrate Julia Child's birthday. We made the most yummy dishes; cheese souffle, poulet au porto and a strawberry tart. Again, Julie provided wine and we sat outside to enjoy our meal. I learned so much and it was so fun. I would highly recommend taking one of Julie's cooking classes! read more

If you appreciate good food, fresh ingredients, and enjoy cooking, Cooking with Julie is a can't miss when in Napa! My husband and I took a class while on our honeymoon and had the most amazing experience. From the start of the day at the farmers market to our meal at the end, it was a fantastic day! Julie has a wealth of knowledge and not only shows you all of the best places to get your ingredients but shares her favorite items from each stop with you. All of the vendors seem to know her very well and let you sample many of the foods. We got lessons at the market on how to pick the best fruits and veggies and learned a ton about different types of salts. She even pointed out a place to get the most amazing cookies. The winery visit was also a fun element as you learn a little about how to taste and what to pair with the menu she puts together. The actual cooking aspect was great. When we got to the house there was an array of snacks to much on that we had picked up at the market earlier. Julie has a beautiful house, a great work space, and all of the tools of the trade. She goes over a few cooking tips and then breaks you into groups to prepare an element of the meal. She moves around the kitchen helping each group as you go and is right on hand to answer any questions. She also serves white wine as you cook! After the food is prepared you get to enjoy the food together at a beautifully set table. Everything we made tasted amazing. At that point you have spent the entire day with the group so you are pretty friendly with everyone and it is truly an enjoyable meal. When you leave you get to take all of the recipes from the day home with you. Finally, Julie has a great personality and is easy to talk to. She seems to have had some great life and culinary experiences. It is quite enjoyable to spend the day with her. All of these things combined make for an absolutely perfect day! I would give it more stars if I could! read more

Cooking with Julie was such an incredible experience. Starting off the in the market was a treat, as we meet our crew at a coffee shop and toured around, which was a great way to start the morning. She was open to our diet concerns, and asked us which vegetables we would like to add into our menus for the day. She made sure to educate us about the importance of market fresh food. We also tasted and learned about oils and spices. Cooking in Julie's home was such a personal touch, and again we learned so much about the process of preparing, measuring, and cooking, all with wine of course. She was so personable and equally informed about food. We loved cooking with Julie!! read more

My great friend, Val and I experienced Cooking with Julie, last week , in Napa. We had travelled from So. Cal, and met Julie at the Oxbow Public Market. It was raining like crazy outside, but fortunately, the market is fully enclosed. We spent considerable time at the market, which is actually about 30 different booths, and Julie provided quite the education about fresh fruits and vegetables, salts and spices, a plethora of cheeses, and olive oils. As she picked out many ingredients that would be used in our meal prep, I felt like I was shopping for the 1st time, and I am well past 50. Next we went to her welcoming house, with a fully equipped home kitchen, which was only a short distance away. As this was the slower season in Napa, there were only 3 of us in the class. We were joined by a delightful 20 something young lady, Chloe, who had just graduated from college in Missouri and aspired to write about food and wine. We shared some marvelous appetizers and wine, then made a wonderful frittata appetizer, a great Italian bread, lemon chicken scaloppini, bulger grain with fresh veggies, and topped it off with an olive oil chocolate mousse that was incredible. The meal was paired with a perfect Napa wine. We never felt rushed, Julie was the perfect host, and this was the highlight of our 4 days in Napa. We highly recommend this excursion! read more

Our family had a wonderful time Cooking with Julie. We liked both the learning and eating aspects of our trip to Napa. We toured the Napa Farmer's Market and the Oxbow Public Market where we picked out the fresh ingredients to use for the meal we prepared. Julie took the time to teach, explain and demonstrate great cooking technique. She had many neat cooking gadgets and made all participants feel at ease and welcome, regardless of cooking experience. Our 17-year old daughter and 20-year old son had a great time. Julie was really organized and we enjoyed our meal. We appreciate her making this experience available to those who are interested in cooking and eating. Thank you, Julie for being such a great teacher/hostess! read more

I can sum up Cooking With Julie in one word: Absolutely Fantastic! (ok, two words) This wasn't just a cooking class, it was SO much more! Julie took us through the entire process, from shopping for the best produce and products, to preparation, to cooking and presentation. And after leaving the market it was all done in her fabulous home kitchen. It was so much more than we expected, and we highly recommend Cooking With Julia! read more

I took Julie's class with my sister, brother-in-law and our two girlfriends celebrating my Birthday. Half the group was visiting from the East Coast so this was such a great way to spend a day in NAPA! All of us range from beginning cook, moderate to high level home chef... OH AND let's not forget the home grill master ;) We all had a wonderful experience and definitely learned a lot! The recipes, skills, techniques (how to properly dress a salad, etc) I still use today! This was definitely a highlight to celebrating my birthday and a memory I'll remember always! Many thx to Julie and to my girlfriend for organizing this!!! Relaxing, fun, informative, wonderful company, great wine from Napa, beautiful scenery, amazing food, then more wine and more yummy food..... that in of itself is a great recipe! Cheers! read more

We participated in the "Cooking With Julie" class at the end of the second week of February 2018, and enjoyed every minute of it. We met Julie at the Oxbow Market in Napa, where we selected the fresh produce and other ingredients we would need for the meal. In addition to purchasing the groceries, Julie led us through a tour of the market, tasting olive oils and spices. This was just one of the many serendipities we experienced throughout the day. Once we had our ingredients, the class moved to Julie's beautiful home. The meal was divided into stations by recipe but since there was a small number in our group, we worked together on most of the items for our meal. As we sliced and diced, stirred and folded, sautéed and simmered, Julie's assistant laid out a lovely spread of appetizers for us to enjoy with a glass of wine. The menu Julie had prepared took full advantage of what was fresh and best at the time, including a bonus course that included some wonderful mushrooms. Julie also took the role of cooking teacher quite seriously, offering meaningful advice on techniques for preparing and cooking our recipes. Once the meal was ready, we moved out to the sunny deck in back, enjoying our food and wine in the sunshine. Meanwhile, Julie's assistant helped with the cleanup so we could relax. As the class came to an end after over six wonderful hours, we remarked on the fact that "Cooking With Julie" felt very much like a house party with friends. It was a real pleasure and something I would strongly recommend. read more

My wife and I attended this for our 20th wedding anniversary and we had a great experience. Julie is knowledgeable, friendly and unpretentious. She provided just the right amount of direction - without being intrusive. The menu had dishes that were not too basic or complex. These recipes can be repeated without too much strain. Julie's global experience was helpful in explaining the dishes. Outstanding and highly recommended. read more

Wow what an experience!!!! Took a corporate office group of 26 to Silverado winery and conducted a cooking class with Julie. In the corporate world we struggle to find new things for our well traveled team. This was one of the best events we've done in years. Barbara from Silverado is superb. She and Julie coordinated a cooking class and outstanding cellar tour. MY group can be quite quick to judge. They loved the experience and definitely want to return. If you're corporate planner, you must take you're group here. Fantastic experience. Thank you Julie and Barbara! read more

I had a wonderful time when I took Julie's class, Springtime in Paris. Julie has excellent credentials but even more important, too me, is that she has a warm and welcoming manner, with a sense of humor, which is important to the environment of a small, personal class. Julie guides you through cooking techniques and the creation of a delicious menu. She answers all your questions and never makes you feel like you asked a "dumb" question. I feel the class is perfect for the new cook or someone who has been cooking for years, but wants to add something new to their repertorie. I highly recommend the class. At the end of the day you get a delectable meal and plenty of wine! read more
