This bakery smells like heaven and they have such an amazing range of cookies from which to choose. Seriously, treat yourself to anything that tickles your fancy because I'm sure it'll be good. was walking by when my nose was attacked by this wonderful smell. it was coming from Lakota. I didn't know I wanted a cookie. I made it about 20 feet from the shop and wouldn't you know I now needed a cookie. the girl at the counter was friendly and patient as I paced back and forth making my choice even more difficult. end up with a great peanut butter cookie with what I think had a bag of pb chips on top of it and a kind of almond butter cookie that had a huge dollop of real choc on top. ran across the street to the store and grabbed a milk and continued on to the bus stop. and then I think I blacked out because it was one of the best times ive ever had waiting for a bus in 30 something degree weather. great place and certainly a great place to pop in and grab something if ur gonna be a guest some place and don't want to show up empty handed. read more

OMG, these are the BEST COOKIES in the WORLD! I mean BEST!!! What the heck do they put in there???? So yummy!!! I can't even pick out a favorite, b/c all of their cookies are so good. I can't compare these cookies to any other cookies out there!!! Bit on the pricey side though. $1.50 per small cookie, but it's soooooooo WORTH IT!! You won't be disappointed!!! Lakota Bakery in Arlington deserves accolades for its Lemon Cream Sandwich (so beautifully delicate it get separate wrapping), Chocolate Cream Sandwich, Pecan Shortbread. Others, however, are either good (Mocha Cream Sandwich). acceptable (Chocolate Tuxedo, Walnut Crescent) or achingly sweet (Chocolate Vanilla Sandwich). I love to bake and cookies are one of my favorite things to make. BUT Lakota Bakery's are so delicious that this is one of the few places I will buy cookies. Great variety, so something for everyone but we always end up fighting over the Linzer cookies, either strawberry or raspberry. The florentines are amazing too. Who am I kidding, they are all good! We have also tried their cake too, bought one for a birthday celebration and it was excellent, moist and delicious. As others have noted, bring cash. I'm glad I don't live too close to this bakery or I'd be in trouble. read more

I'm an avid baker and I consider myself to be pretty good at it. When I'm being lazy I buy my cookies here and they are fantastic! I stay away from the biscuit looking ones but they are just not my cup of tea no matter who makes them. Order ANYTHING here and you will never be let down! read more

Love this place and am lucky enough to live nearby so am frequently there. My son gives me a gift certificate from there every Christmas and I love being able to stop in to buy a couple at a time. They don't mind if you are just buying two cookies to eat on the run or a whole box to take to a pot luck or for a house warming gift. They are very patient as you stand there, overwhelmed by all the amazing choices, trying to make a decision. All the cookies are delicious, but I like the chocolate covered macaroons best. read more

Suffering from miminal kitchen skills, but a notorious sweet tooth, I cannot walk by Lakota without my eyes glazing over. Right next door to the bakery you can usually see an employee stirring a vat of cookie dough. I am on a first name basis with one of the co-workers and always purchase their butterscotch, almond shortbread, and lemon creme cookies. The butterscotch cookies have a sweet glaze with a slightly cripsy edge. And, while I normally do not eat anything lemon, the lemon creme cookies are fantastic. The only downfall is the price. I was VERY disappointed with the service when I went into the bakery. I've been here 3 times and each return trip I hoped for better / friendlier service. It never happened, I like to give shops and people 3 tries before I write them off and Lakota has had it chances. I found the girls ( one brunette, one blond ) to be rude and not very helpful. I felt like I was bothering them when I came in to by 2 dozen cookies and the price isn't cheap. I will NEVER return to this bakery and have told anyone who will listen to not even think of giving this establishment any business. I was once a fan of this bakery but I have to say that it has really fallen off lately. I was there recently and the service was incredibley rude. I had just come from a politcal event so I was wearing a pin and it was absurd the way I was treated. I am utterly perplexed by these 1 star reviews! These are truly the best cookies I have ever had. And I've had a lot of cookies. I bring them to my co-workers every December, and they mention them all throughout the year. I also have friends who have been bringing them to parties and family functions for years, and they consistently get rave reviews. I am confused on who would say the cookies had a fake sugar flavor. I knew someone who worked there for awhile and she said all of their ingredients are just simple real stuff. Just butter, sugar, and chocolate. That's how I like it! There is nothing about these cookies that tastes fake!!My favorites are the peanut butter sandwich cookies, and the chocolate macaroons. So, so good. I decided to stop in and try this place a couple weeks ago after reading all the great reviews it had from yelp. I loved how before I even set foot into the door, i could smell the cookies being baked and it really opened up my appetite. I tried an assortment of cookies which I would say were just OK. The one I really loved was one coffee flavored cookie which was creamy and amazing! I give it 4 stars because I only really like 1 cookie out of the 12 I tried but they do have a lot more and I might change me score once I try more of their flavors. read more
