Anyway, I found the service overpriced, took a long time, and the lady working the job didn't seem very interested in having a new customer. She was kind of rude, made it seem like she didn't have much time to serve me, kind of "barked orders" at me. I've never been to an alterations person before and didn't know what to expect, so I was slow and inexperienced, she probably sensed that, but still "barked" at me and seemed to really be inconvenienced by me and my request for service. The job was OK, but when I picked it up, she didn't ask me if I was satisfied or anything, just held out her hand for pay. It was a lot more costly than I had imagined, and since she only accepted cash or a check, I had to leave my item, go home and get more money, then pick up later. I was so put off by her that I almost left the item there and thought, "you can have my pants!" I did go pick up later, but I don't even want to wear the pants because they remind me of her! I'll not go back, for sure.

Y'all! This place is AMAZING!! I was informed about a job interview two days prior and went…read moreshopping for a business suit the following day. I found one that fit me perfectly (thanks to Karen at Dillards in the Acadiana Mall!), but the sleeves were too long. I remembered this place -- Ann's Alterations -- from getting my wedding and reception dresses fitted TWELVE YEARS AGO! I stopped in on the off chance that the seamstress could work a miracle and shorten my jacket sleeves for me within just a few hours time. She was the SWEETEST business owner I have ever encountered. She said that she would stay late to make sure she got my jacket fixed for me in time for my interview and would call me that afternoon when she was done. So, after dropping off the jacket after 1:00pm, I received a call before 4:30pm that my jacket was ready! And her work was IMPECCABLE!! I highly recommend this business to anyone needing alterations completed!

(Not sure why they would continue under those circumstances, but hey...it's Laughayette) When I asked how they would remedy the error, they offered two free dry cleanings (smell the irony?), claimed that the shirt was made in China, not the Bahamas???, that I'd pulled off laundry tags I'd not removed from previous launderings, asked how old the shirt was, etc. Excuses, deflections and veiled accusations later, I told them to enjoy the shirt and have a great day....what an awful business.

The service at the counter is always friendly and they do have Saturday morning hours if you can't make it during the week. The biggest reason for my update and downgrade from 4 stars to 3 stars is the pricing. The pricing is to a point to where I take in a few shirts and a pair of slacks and it's $30. Crazy. I remember when it was more like $1.50 a shirt and now it's over $3.00. I've started buying more clothes that don't need dry cleaning as a result of their increases. I might even open up my own dry cleaning since they are making a killing. Overall they do a good job but the cost is limiting my business here. Enjoy!
