2017's 100 Reviews Challenge! 5/100: If you are ever in…read moreRincón, this is the typical bakery/cafeteria at any "pueblo" (town) in PR. First off, let's start with the fact that even though it's in Rincón (a touristy area) the prices are still like the ones of any local cafeteria. Secondly, the pastries,'specifically the "pastel de guayaba" (Pastry filled with guava paste and sprinkled with powdered sugar) & the "quesito" are both "manjar de los dioses" (food of the gods). Let me tell you something, if you know anything about stuffed or filled Puerto Rican pastries, then you know that although most Puerto Rican bakeries accomplish a perfectly baked pastry, some of them fail at filling the pastry from end to end. That is not the case at E.C bakery. Sure... you are probably going to regret munching down on all those carbs, but it will definitely be worth it for 5-10 minutes of an orgasmic experience on you taste buds... That's right, "ORGASMIC". Ok... enough with the pastries. Thirdly, this cafeteria/bakery has a Drive Thru! You read it a drive thru! Not a lot of local cafeterias/bakeries have a drive thru, so appreciate this fact some they even have a small convenience store that you cam just drive up and purchase. Finally, food is tasty, coffee is your typical strong Puerto Rican coffee, but with milk so if you take it black, make sure to let them know (In PR Most places asume you want "café con leche" since that's how most Puerto Ricans have it) and keep in mind that since this bakery is very popular in a small touristy town, it's always packed and there's a fair amount of wait time (typical with freshly prepared meals). Just take your patience with you and meditate so you can prepare yourself for those orgasmic pastries.

Quesito con Café at this local bakery were tasty and hot the spot for the on-the-go morning.read more

Well-stocked, local and international products, intermediate in size, but lacking a few items. NAME: Supermercado Selectos, Añasco CHAIN: Supermacado Selectos, slectospr.com MY RATING: Very, Very Good (4.6/5) SIZE: Larger than a colmado, but smaller than larger supermarkets. TITLE: "Large but Local" [Yelp, my review #465 [1], submitted 5 February 2016] TELEPHONE: (787) 826-1626 MANAGER: Well managed store. In the beginning, he greeted us every time we went in the store. LOCALITY: PR 2, Km. 143.3, Centro Comercial Multiplaza, Barrio Caracoles, Añasco, Puerto Rico 00610 LATITUDE, LONGITUDE: 18°17'50.34"N, 67°9'30.84"W DIFFICULTY LOCATING: easy DIRECTIONS: From the south, do a U-turn at the main traffic light in Añasco and take the first right into shopping mall. From the north, go through the light and do the same. Do not turn at the traffic light. The entrance off the light is always jammed up. PARKING: paved mall lot usually with open parking spaces close by OCCASION: Have a cheaper brand of Worcestershire sauce, sweet balsamic salad dressing, frozen flounder filets, and artesian lettuces, which other local stores lack. LAYOUT: As one enters the store, there is a cafeteria on the left and a bakery on the right. Checkout lines are straight ahead. Shelves and aisles are to the right of the checkout. AIR CONDITIONED: yes HOURS OF OPERATION: 5 am-11 pm every day CELEBRITIES: We are the only gringos we have ever seen there. Also, they had a 7 foot employee, for a while, who was quite a shock in the land of the short. PROBLEMS: (I) Security lights are too dim when power goes off. (II) They are often out of Sprite Zero (III) Pueblo has a few items they lack RECOMMENDATIONS: CUSTOMER: Drive by front of the store. Usually 1 or 2 parking spaces there. MANAGER/OWNER: You are doing a good job. COMPARISONS: Only nearby grocery stores are Pueblo in the Mayagüez Town Center Mall and Selectos at Añasco Commercial Center Mall. The Añasco Selectos is more pleasant, has more local products, and most prices are cheaper. The Selectos in downtown Mayagüez is mostly local stuff and not as good. REVIEWS: rated Very, Very Good, 4.46, 50 reviews (IVUSpots); Very, Very Good, 4.67/5, 3 reviews (Google); Terrible, 1/5, 1 review (FaceBook) HISTORY: We have been shopping there occasionally since 2006.
