This place is a hidden oasis in Alexandria. Located on the corner of Bourke and Collins Street COOH has ambiance, atmosphere and a design aesthetic that would make judges on design shows throw their hipster hand in the air in celebration. It seems to be an industrial warehouse that has been divided into an indoor and outdoor section by beautiful window glass doors. The outside is a huge deck area that has everything from lounges and tables to egg chairs for people to relax on. For us, the inside was the star though - a huge space divided up by fusion of natural and industrial features gave it a feel of elegance and romance but still with an edge. This space can accommodate large groups, however, it is set up in a way that tables are far enough away from each other that you still get your privacy and it's one for the list of top date places. The menu is not as large as you will see in some restaurants however, the staff at Cooh have been refining it over the past year and this current iteration has been the staple there for the past 4 months. While the menu is not huge there are options for all from your heavier meals to your lighter meals. Firstly, before talking about the meals let me say that the portions sizes are generous and filling! For entree we had the Hervey Bay scallops, saganaki feta filo and warm eggplant. The scallops were fresh, cooked perfectly and matched beautifully with the pea purée (delicious). For me the star was the eggplant - which was paired with garlic rye sourdough and the tomato salsa kept it refreshing. The Saganaki in honey is a top pick as well, however, suggest sharing as it could be a bit much to eat all on your own! Mains, take your pick here and you won't be disappointed. We had the eye fillet, ocean trout and pork belly. For both of us the Crispy Skin Pork Belly was a cracking meal - literally, the crispy skin made the perfect snap and crackle when devoured and the pork belly itself was as succulent as grandma's Sunday pork roast! This was paired nicely with the cauliflower purée and the slaw. The steak was cooked to perfection with delicious onion braised kale and roasted tomato. The crispy skin ocean trout was the marine version of the pork belly and it is one of the most refreshing dishes I've had! Scrumptious fish covered in a crispy skin with a citrus salad and sweet potato swirl underneath tied all these flavours together in a dish that will please anyone who loves seafood, flavour and fine dining. Dessert is not just for the tastebuds but it is a visual experience as well. We had the the honey whipped ricotta with rhubarb coconut salsa and coconut semifredo which is best shared! It was almost too pretty to eat with fresh and light flavours that end your dining experience here on a positive note. A very positive note. If you are torn between all the different options as we were then ask the floor and bar manager Ramy for his recommendations - he will be more then happy to run you through the menu and let you know the favourites! The drinks and cocktail menu here is well designed and fits with the fresh and natural vibe that is produced by the food and decor. Grab yourself a coconut pinacolada for that fresh zing but do not go past the wine list as this would be the perfect accompaniment to your meals here. While we were here for dinner, we definitely want to go back for brunch and sit outside on the deck area in the sun! Parking in the area is easy and it is only a few blocks from Green Square station. Treat yourself with a visit to COOH and you will not be disappointed - we've also heard a rumor of live music and $1 sliders on certain Friday nights

I went back to Cooh as the first time I'd missed the pancakes as I was there at lunch. Today it wasn't too busy as it was a rainy day so I got a nice big table, warmly greeted and provided with water and the waitress took my coffee order whilst I waited for my friend. The coffee came out quickly - it had some beautiful latte art. Whilst I waited for my friend I note the advertisement for a party the next day celebrating their first anniversary with free snacks and live music - how fun! They are a cafe selling breakfast, lunch and dinner (tues-Friday). A friend of mine also had a wedding there so I also know they do events. My friend arrived and ordered the smashed avo. It was a huge piece of rye topped with smashed avocado, coriander and tomato. Such a generous serving and she really liked it. She also got the immunity juice - great for those in need of a boost. I excitedly ordered the pancakes and what came out was just beautiful. A large buckwheat pancake with passion fruit, banana, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. It was topped with dairy free coconut yoghurt and toasted coconut chips. They are gluten free and dairy free - an absolute winner. I loved it!!! The colour popped from the plate. I had a frappe, fresh lime, mint and ice was so refreshing to accompany my breakfast. The wait staff were so attentive and welcoming. A great cafe that I recommend trying out.

Delicious ocean trout with a slice of lemon and a bite of avocado.

This is my favourite spot for an early morning breakfast, try the wholesome porridge with fresh edible flowers, pomegranates and passion fruit- it is a winner

The café occupies the corner of Garden st and Henderson Road and is industriously styled with cool marble and pink interior and a hanging garden. There's plenty of space inside and out, so I you won't be waiting long for a table. Serving Toby's estate coffee and a range of modern Australian dishes for both breakfast or lunch, as well as some sweet treats, is a popular café with the locals and visitors to the area alike. I've visited now on more than one occasion and the café is continuously striving to perfect their menu offerings. A group of us dined on this day to sample a number of the menu choices. The Grumpy's special of chili scrambled eggs were presented atop sourdough bread and a side of heirloom carrots, a heatlhy and wholesome meal. The winner of the day, and also one recommended to us was the Green Pea Smash with burrata and prosciutto. A great combination of flavours. From the sweets menu, we went for the Fig Brioche, topped with macadamia, honey, ricotta and vanilla ice cream (in place of the regular fairy floss). There were a few fruits topping it and would love to have a few more. The Grumpy's granola and pannacotta is also not only beautiful, but delicious and served with a raspberry pannacotta. Could be a sweet or breakfast ;) The venue also serves the famous cronuts (a mix of a doughnut and croissant, filled with a range of insides like cream, Nutella, caramel and topped with oreos etc. Surprise yourself. The guys at grumpy's are always friendly and hospitable. Make sure you pay them a visit.

We were there for the lunch menu and there are chicken or beef burgers with fries, pre prepared salads (plus you can add a protein) or the crispy skin salmon. We ordered the beef burger which was an excellent burger as the meat pattie was extremely nicely cooked, tender inside, topped with crispy bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato and a siracha sauce sitting inside a toasted bun. The flavours worked nicely together. It came with seasoned fries. We also got the lovely crispy skin salmon with a salad - the rocket, chickpea, cauliflower one. Given that they are already made, the cauliflower was a bit moist but still tasty. We didn't call in and book and on a warm Sunday afternoon there was quite a few people waiting for tables. We got our table within about 20 mins of arriving. We ordered the waffle for our dog and he tired to gulp in down in one go He was so excited to get a plate all to himself at a human cafe Menu is pretty varied and plenty of brunch options. I had the full breakfast, first item on the menu. I also had a double espresso Shane which was very nice indeed. Eggs poached perfectly, nice bacon, chorizo and mushrooms. It tasted great and despite the place being full food arrived shortly after we ordered. Service is nice and friendly and there is a number of tables outside which was mostly occupied by dog owners having brunch. Would happily come here again. A nice treat for us and our lovely dog. I went here today for the first ever Yelp Elite event with DOGGIES and I can promise you we all loved it. I know I was fortunate to get to sample quite a few things from the menu, and I appreciated the stellar service we received, but what really made this stand out was the quality of the ingredients. The bacon, caramel, I don't know what else... shut up... just take my money already... french toast was out of this world. Now, you have to understand, french toast is my most favorite brekkie item in the world, so when I tell you this was the best french toast I have ever had, believe me, it was GOOD. But it doesn't end there, oh no... The coffee was a single origin roast that was smooth and delicious, so I give them big points for making a great flat white (essential to my morning routine). The other items that I sampled, including a quinoa dish with the delightful name of "Birdy Num Num" (kudos to the Peter Sellers' reference, I got it and had a good chuckle), something called "Cinderella's dish" with a poached egg and pumpkin, and a few other items, were all tasty and creative. Did I mention how fresh everything was? It was obvious that this is a place where the food is being made with love and care, I love it when all the details come together. And, of course, I would be remiss if I did not mention what a great time Rufus had. Rufus is a fussy, and hyperactive 15-month-old Mini Doxie. He loved the "puppachino" and the camraderie... In fact, he still hasn't fully recovered from this morning's outing... so that's another yelp of approval for you. So, all in all, great little cafe, worth a few extra minutes of slowing down in the morning and stopping to check it out. You will not regret it.
