The new director, Mrs. Tireesha has been very helpful and easy to communicate with. I had a meeting with her about sons' behavior and progress, just the way that her main focus was helping me understand potential reasons of reactions and how we can we redirect him or continue to seek other resources instead of focusing on his behavior. I felt like I was being heard for once. I left feeling confident that my son was where he needed to be! Thank you!! Mrs. Tireesha, I see a bright future for you at England Run Minnieland!

I would like to inform you that I will be formally writing a review with the BBB, Yelp and The…read moreboard of this organization. The 2 months my son was there, i was HIGHLY disappointment in this establishment. My son was sick 3 times while in the care of you all. I kept trying to figure out why, only to discover the reason behind it. I watched your teachers change diapers and use the tablet right after, to document it. No big deal right? Well that tablet she touched, she used the same hands she just changed a dirty diaper with!! The same hands she uses to pick up kids and the same hands she makes food with. That's honestly DISGUSTING!! You know what else is gross? People kiss kids that aren't their! DON'T FIX to put your lips on a kid that inst yours. What if I kissed your child? You have no idea where my lips where last, DO YOU? Makes you think, doesn't it.. To top it all off, I come to pick up my son 2 days before his last day and i stand outside the classroom door for a few to observer. While observing I watched the teacher interact with the kids, my son is has a personality was standing up making some noise. When he should of been sitting down listening. Instead of handling the situation the proper way. Christina decide to raise her voice and say "Shut your mouth and sit your butt down". Since when was this a way to talk to a child? How would have you have felt being talk to like that as an ADULT? I'm upset!!!

Phone was hung up on me very aggressive after stating my sexuality also. Definitely won't send anyone this way. Agape "CHRISTIAN" Academy owner is very judge mental in telling me they don't accept that(me being gay)at there facility. Side note: I am also a Christian and was raised in a Christian church and to this day I attend church faithfully. I don't recommend Agape Academics values and outlook on worldly things.

He was only there a lil over two months. During that time I witness 4 teachers quit during the two months my son was there. The owner of the place Ms. Cynthia lives in NC. She's cheap and would hire anybody. The facility itself is old and not sanitary at all!!! They have roaches and mice running rampant. (See picture)The picture attached is from mice poop left on a child sleeping mat. There has been multiple complaints about this place and I don't understand why is it still open. The Director Ms. Gene had the nastiness attitude. Shes old and had a number of health issues and shouldn't be working there. She would scream and yell at the kids all day long. My son would come there every day in a good mood and when I came to pick him up he would be crying. Ms Gene would have him isolated in the back room by himself until I would come pick him up and he would be crying the entire time. The last day my son was there she decided to video tape my son crying without my permission! I am currently in the process of filing a complaint. Worse preschool ever!!!

My twins went to CHOT for three years. We started at their Sophia location, which was a one-room…read moreschool house that smacked of Little House on the Prairie. We loved it, and our twins thrived. The teachers were professional but truly loving. I had the pleasure of watching the head teacher tear up every year at "graduation" and knowing how well my children were cared for during their time at CHOT. The only negative, and the reason for the 4/5 stars, is the new facility at the White Oak location. This is a more broken up space with stairs, a hectic drop-off/pick-up system, and a frankly inadequate playground. But did we leave once the school moved? NO WAY. I knew my children were in great hands. When the teachers told me that my twins were not ready for kindergarten, I watched them nervously await a tongue lashing. I agreed and saluted their expert opinion. I have no regrets about giving my twins an extra year to mature and thrive in their loving care. Highly recommend!

I am posting a review primarily in response to another review here on Yelp with a different…read moreperspective and to correct a bit of inaccurate information (that naturally occurred because it's second-hand information to the Aunt. I don't feel her intentions were malicious in any way. Her family is upset so she got upset, I get that and I respect it.) The first thing to know about me is that I am a mother who's son went to Children's House of Old Town for Pre-school and is now going into Kindergarten next fall. My other children are also enrolled for next year at Children's House of Old Town. I am not an Aunt listening to an upset family member and writing a review; I am a Mom who's son went to Children's House. My perspective is first-hand, not second-hand. The second thing you need to know about me is that my son was __also__ told he wasn't ready for Kindergarten. We were told that he wasn't ready because.. he wasn't ready. And they knew. They knew because they are well seasoned, experienced teachers. They are sweethearts that I have known the past three years. And they are excellent at what they do.. but they also aren't going to do a family a disservice of wasting their time and money if a child isn't ready. They are going to tell you. It sounds like the director was up front after one day. And that is a positive. Even a child without a disability can be 'not ready'. I had the grace of knowing the wonderful ladies who run this school for two years before I got the "We don't think he's ready yet" from them. It's very hard to hear as a Mom. I can't imagine how sensitive I would be if I was the mother of a child with a disorder. I'd likely be super sensitive about it. The third thing you should know about this school is that they have a process of Evaluating each and every student one-on-one for readiness and either tell the parent after that one hour that their child is ready, or isn't ready. This normally happens 7 months before school starts because the program has limited spots that fill up quickly. The Aunt's review clearly states that the parents only went to the parent-only orientation. Which means the teachers didn't meet the child before the first day. I also happen to know that a military family with a Kindergartener (who was friends with my son) was planning to move out of state at that time. I'm (guessing, obviously), that a slot opened up and the teachers decided to (kindly, mistakenly) waive the evaluation for a last minute family. And for clarity: All 3 'grades' are together during certain parts of the week, as the entire school was just one room. The entire school was 28 students last year. The school does limit Kindergarteners so they can have one-on-one time with them, however. Which they do, because that class is at the school until 2:30, 5 days a week, while the 3-day students are in the building for a much briefer period and only 3 times a week. This is one of the things I meant about the Aunt hearing second-hand information. It's very clear that all 3 grades are together, as it's literally a one-room building. (The reviewer makes it sound like the director misled her and that bothered me so much.) The last thing to know is that we have (obviously) been really impressed and happy with Children's House of Old town. My son was happy and excited going to school. He was happy and excited doing his "work", and couldn't wait to show me his Folder on Friday. (The one day a week work they've done comes home). And when I finally asked why they thought he wasn't ready?.... I was told it was his writing. So instead of PUSHING him (like a normal school system would do), they had told me he wasn't ready yet (which I assume is the..Montessori style). He worked at his own pace last year in the 5-day preschool program and he learned to hold a marker correctly without frustration. He learned to write his name. He's confident when he writes now and it's a non-issue. He really blossomed there. My son is going into Kindergarten in less than 40 days and he already: - Knows the entire alphabet - Can count to 100 - Knows his colors - Writes his name. - Does simple Math! (knows 3+7, 4+5, etc) - READS. On Set #2 in Bob Books. He sounds out the letters and reads to US every night. - Is EXCITED for School to start The Montessori program at this school is amazing and the ladies who run it are amazing. I'm really sorry things didn't work out for the other family of the Aunt who posted here but I thought it a disservice not to paint the whole picture for those considering this school.
