HOWEVER, while the establishment and materials were of quality, the owner/host was did not have that every this particular night. I am not sure if it was just a bad night for her on because it was a Tuesday (when she's usually closed) that made her have a bad attitude. Our guest arrived 15-20 minutes in advance and while the start time was not until 7:00pm, she was very snappy with turning our guest away and telling the the event did not begin until 7:00. Her demeanor was not inviting nor friendly. They waited in the car and did not feel comfortable entering until the birthday girl arrived. At 7:00 when we entered, while we were all in a good mood, we felt like we were walking on egg shells when it came to using her materials or asking questions. We couldn't grab our own choices of doormats. She said this was her policy, but how she convert that was of poor taste. Again it wasn't what she said, but how she said it. I will be honest and say tried to fix her attitude during the explanation of directions, however we could feel her irritation. Her communications and expectations were not properly communicated. Hence why she was annoyed by how we were using the paint... not to her liking. You were to put it ON the doormat, NOT on the table paper. She never said that. We all have bad days, but in a business where hospitality and a welcoming demeanor is necessary to keep your customers coming back or making referrals, that energy needs to be minimized as much as possible. She didn't say we had done anything and even the birthday girl's mother-in-law said she think she just had a bad day. I gave her four stars because our doormats came out great. Also while she attempted to change the trajectory of her attitude and we ultimately had to make our experience what it was and for the most part we all enjoyed eachother. I'll likely be back, because I believe in supporting Black Women always. I pray my experience when I go back with other is better. I believe in her.

We had the best girls night here! This is the first time we've tried this type of crafting and it…read morewas a very fun and pleasant experience. As a person that is not gifted in the crafting area, the staff (Dante, Nick, Kendra and Miss Opal) did a fantastic job walking us through everything. They were patient, kind, fun and super friendly. They did NOT rush us and checked in with us every step of the way. They serve beer and/or wine and provide little snacks. Even though you will be busy with your board there is plenty of time in between steps to chat with your friends. Since we were beginners, our boards didn't turn out perfect. The staff spent an extra 20 minutes or so fixing all of our imperfections. They were literally sitting there fixing the smeared paint and bad lettering. Overall a really fun experience and we will definitely be back to make some other items.

The 2-hour show (with intermission) was entertaining with the setting in New Orleans. This little theater had several pluses. First, the interior space is cozy and provides a fun vibe of live theater in which audience engagement is part of the experience. Second, it's only a few blocks away from restaurants on King Street. Street parking is not difficult to find if you arrive early. Third, the overall quality of individual theatrical performances was quite good. All the performers seemed to have regular day-jobs, but love theater for its own sake (perhaps from college). The only minus is the theater seats are very close to each other (think ballpark). Thus, if you happen to sit behind someone who is really tall, it may require a bit of peeking around to see parts of the stage. Hopefully, the folks in front of you will not be tall. Would definitely return for a future performance.

I checked in with a woman who had a printed list of ticket holder names. The seats were very close to one another and infront and back of you. I could see the stage very well It was hard to understand what the actors were saying at times, there is a speaker but in genera I couldn't understand some of the words (plus im deaf in my right ear, so theres that) Production was for an hour. I arrived at Selina around 7pm and was directed to the lower level where the event was taking place. The check-in table at the front displayed a selection of well-used paint brushes and paint-stained plastic cups. The dimly lit room had three rows of tables set up with tiny blank canvases. The lady at the check-in desk never asked me for my ticket or my name. Instead, she directed me to select one of the laminated images on the table to "sketch." I saw that a few other attendees had on aprons, so I grabbed one of the paint-stained aprons to protect my clothing. I'm no artist, so I asked the staff member for some guidance on sketching the image I had chosen and she simply stated that I needed to draw it freehand. I helped myself to a few paint colors after figuring out that I needed to grab my own materials. I joined my friend at one of the three 4-person tables in the cozy room and made my best attempt to sketch the image using a pencil before applying the colors with my paintbrush. I completed my 10 x 8 inch painting in no time and it looked nothing like the original laminated image. Even though it wasn't a masterpiece, I found the act of painting pretty relaxing. The conversation at my table and the playlist streaming in the background were bomb! They made an otherwise lackluster experience worthwhile. I do wish this event included some wine and snacks to nosh on while we painted. That and larger canvases with sketched images and a quick orientation to attendees as they entered the room would have made this event even better. 2.5

They immediately make you feel at home, show you where all the paint and tools are located, guide you to your seat, and put you at ease. - Be creative: I like that there is no pressure here to follow a certain style, paint a certain picture, or complete things in a certain amount of time. You are able to follow your heart, be creative, and draw whatever you want. There are some outlines and photos available to copy if you want inspiration, but there is no pressure to do this, either! - Lots of supplies: Paints of every color, brushes of every size-- lots of cups and plats and paper towels and smocks. A dryer to dry your art as well.
